The outer rim sieges being a brutal unending slog was definitely deliberate on Palpatine's part because with the droid shutdown command it would seem to the average citizen that Palpatine and the Empire pulled off a miracle and ended the war in a brilliant menuver further winning the galaxy's good will and leaving all potentially rebellious worlds suddenly without their defenders allowing the Empire to sweep in and take over.
You just have to look at historical examples, WW1, in 1918, before Germany approached the Entant with a cease fire the French Military was in or near full mutiny, the French citizen where sick of the war, and strikes where occurring ever more frequently. In Russia, armed rebellions had started, in the UK people where sick of rationing, in the colonies people where outright starving. Germany was facing mutiny in every branch, the entire population was just done, only the US remained in high spirits, mainly because US troops where just entering the front lines.
Again Palpatine did not plan the war out, he took advantage of existing tensions m there were exiting core rim tensions for millennia Palpatine just escalated it into a war.
The Outer Rim Sieges were a foreshadowing of the brutality and callousness of the Galactic Empire for its citizens and even the military units that serve them. The Clone Wars got progressively worse for everyone involved and no one within the Clone Army could prepare themselves for the sheer struggle they will face in the final days of the war.
Never understood the callousness. After a while, it should be apparent that Rebellion will keep up and loss of income and manpower would be the result of that Taking care of their people not just in the deep core would've done wonders for their moral and support for the Empire
Palpatine deliberately had all Jedi spread too thin with the Outer Rim Sieges in order to leave them all open and vulnerable to Clones when Order 66 is sent out to them.
Fun fact about the Sieges: Anaxes, a Core World in Legends, was part of that campaign in Canon. Even though it was moved from the Core to the Outer Rim, the writers still made a nod towards its Legends legacy by placing it in the coreward region of the Outer Rim.

@@tk-6967 I do find it a bit concerning how the clone wars and rebels trivialises things like false surrenders which are war crimes. But let's not pretend that any of those incidents even compares to alderaan, Jeddah, scarif, the devastation of kamino, the enslavement of the wookies, the burning of lothal, and although I don't like anything that happened after episode 6 OT in canon, operation cinder. Compared to those incidents everything the rebels and Republic did are drops in the ocean. The death Star was very clearly a military installation. Tragic, but far from a war crime. That being said I still love the imperial navy because they are more interesting and frankly less cringe than the rebels.

I used to love the depth the sieges gave to Order 66. Half the scenes from RotS show clones struggling in the heat of battle as they turn on their Jedi, and that presumably only continued for hours or days before Anakin deactivated the droids. Really demonstrates that the war was never something the Republic could really win. The moment the Republic (and democracy) fell was when they chose to engage in that kind of othering conflict. It's sad that canon moved away from that. Even Kalani stated in Rebels that by the end of the war the Republic was far too outnumbered and would have lost. Extremely unlikely to the point of impossibility. Vaders suit is designed for palpatines lightning to easily dispatch. The rest of them dont stand a remote chance of eliminating sidious when he has already shown to be able to 1 shot a room full of actual jedi masters
Another thing to point out (how I understand the outer rim sieges) was that droid armies also attacked and captured neutral systems in which to continue spreading republic armies and fleets too thin across the galaxy.
At this point Eck should start getting some sort of commission for people buying books exclusively because of him. Who else here bought the Essential Guide to Warfare just because of this channel?

The outer rim sieges weren’t really contained to the outer rim. The separatists did retreat but were able to attack Coreasaunt on the nexus routes, showing that they had at least a couple of planets in the core as otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to reach the nexus routes.
I don’t know if this channel changed narrators or if this guy just grew up & dropped that stupid voice lots of Star Wars channels used, but I’m glad either way. Great video!
I am wondering is there a big difference between the sieges in old and new cannon? My understanding is that in old cannon the CIS by this point are losing and are relatively weak and don't last much time after order 66. While in new cannon the Separatist Alliance is much stronger position at the time of the sieges and still have a strong chance of winning the war. They would carry on long after order 66; out living the empire and having boarder skirmishes with the New Republic in the aftermath books.
At the end of the 'Trackdown' story in the Star Wars: Republic comic series Sidious and Dooku state that a major goal of the Outer Rim Sieges was to draw Republic forces away from the Core and therefore leave Coruscant open to Grievous' attack in RotS.
Outer Rim sieges were brilliantly set up. Draw bulk of GAR away from the core and the. Attack the heart of the core (Coruscant) showing that the Jedi are incapable of protecting the core when put in charge of the GAR
The Outer Rim Sieges seems kind of like the closing months of the Pacific War in WW2, the Japanese (like the CIS) continued to attempt ever more desperate counter attacks, while the Allies were faced with the grim prospect of grinding through the Japanese home islands.

Hey Eck, how would the Republic have fared without Palpatine's influence? Suppose he never rose to power, and the elements for the Clone Wars to happen were still present. Would the Republic have dominated, fractured more, fallen, or stalemate?

Characters: • Darth Caedus versus Lumiya, Darth Krayt, and Darth Sidious (One at a time for all of Caedus' enemies, and you can choose whether ROTJ Sidious is a better match for Caedus, or Dark Empire Sidious is better on your own). • Darth Krayt versus Darth Sidious. • Darth Sidious versus Vitiate. • Luke Skywalker versus Vitiate. • Luke Skywalker versus Kyp Durron. • Darth Krayt versus Vitiate. • Asaji Ventress versus Darth Maul. • Luke Skywalker versus Master Chief. • Darth Malgus versus Darth Bane. • Darth Bane versus Anakin Skywalker, or Darth Vader, but not both at once. • Exar Kun (in a living body, not a spirit) versus Luke Skywalker. • And finally, if you know any Harry Potter lore, Grandmaster Yoda (Or Luke Skywalker, but not both at once) versus Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Those are my recommendations.
Three questions in one: which sci-fi setting is the most technologically advanced? And if there was a fan based movie for the silver screen (think _Who Wants to be a Superhero?_ , but its up to the fans to drive the story & determine the outcome), which sci-fi would you join & which one(s) would likely win in a versus (i.e. despite joining a losing story/setting, you love it so much that you gave the best performance, ever)…

So thrawn was kept out of the war effort and his TIE Defender program came to a halt because of Ezra's victory at Lothal. BUT what if Thrawn managed to win against the rebels at Lothal and drove them back/captured them? What are the ramifications of Thrawn being in command during the OT series?
I would love to see a movie kinda similar to Rouge One set in the outer rim during the closing weeks of the Clone wars, but we don’t see any of the main character, we just hear about their actions and see the consequences affecting the main cast. I think it would be awesome if just at the end of this movie, some Jedi helps to save the main character(s) only for him to get killed by the clones.
I personally think that many of these outer rim sieges were inspired by the grueling sieges of the American Civil War. These sieges were a clusterfuck of trenches, artillery entrenchment, counter artillery maneuvers, cavalry sallies, you name it. The siege of Fredricksburg was so brutal and long that it drove General Ulysses Grant to alcoholism. There's a famous photo that I think was taken at Fredricksburg where a field gun was stood up on its end and propped up by timbers and jerry-rigged into a mortar battery.

Extremely unlikely to the point of impossibility. Vaders suit is designed for palpatines lightning to easily dispatch. The rest of them dont stand a remote chance of eliminating sidious when he has already shown to be able to 1 shot a room full of actual jedi masters
CIS is pretty much undoubtedly the good guys of the clone wars.
“The least well understood” is still blowing my mind.
A Clone Wars style Outer Rim Sieges show would be dope
I would love to see a video on either Revan vs Thrawn, or Revan and Thrawn vs the vong.
The Outer Rim Seiges(20-19BBY) were a Republic counteroffensive to General Grievous's Operation Durge's Lance Campaign which was a massive CIS incursion into the Inner Rim,Colonies and Core worlds 21-20BBY.
Love these kinds of videos
Great video. Ive been thinking about how the Republic and the Empire are able to create so many Venator, Victory, and Imperial class ships, plus support ships, and major "side" projects. Superweapons, super class ships, etc. Is there a source for construction time for each of these? Maybe a video comparing class construction times and known locations? Thanks for all your hard work and devotion.
So I just dug out my old PS2 because it’s the only version I have of The force unleashed!! And man do I truly wish they would bring back Lucas Arts gaming and go and improve the graphics of some if not all of the Star Wars 1990’s and 2000-2010 games!! Then just resale them not at the same 60$ price of games today but even half that!! And it doesn’t need to be every game just the best over these years!!
I'd love to see a video about all the different varieties of YT-series freighter. I feel like most people only know the YT-1300 and YT-2400.
It's ridiculous that they expect us to believe Anaxes is in the Outer Rim.
I’m pretty sure it’s been stated it is a core world, one hyperspace jump away from coroscaunt.
6:16 Im just now realizing how a clone is riding a beast on Felucia
Also anyone else see all those animation mistakes in the Battle of Kashyyyk where it looks like the turbo tanks are running over its own troops…and how to AT-AP gun is shooting without putting its leg down
I adore this channel.
Not gonna lie- there are times I wonder if Ecks is just Jason Fry and this channel is about pumping up sales for the Essential Guide to Warfare =p
2:53 auto captions (in English) translates "essential guide to warfare" as "asian chocolate warfare" 😂 I may have a new fetish now, thanks youtube.
4:48 come on Eck, that was quite the slip-up. Anaxes isn't in the Deep Core, but the "regular" Core
Star Wars has always had such badass names, “Outer rim sieges” “Open circle fleets” ffs Star Wars is amazing
What's that CIS vehicle at the far right on the beach, time stamp 4:09? Looks like an MTT droid deployment rack attached to a hover sled!
They're called PAC's (Platoon Attack Craft). They actually first appeared during the Battle of Naboo in The Phantom Menace.
@@EckhartsLadder Well I'll be darned! It's been a while since I rewatched Ep 1 😅
The outer rim sieges weren’t really contained to the outer rim. The separatists did retreat but were able to attack Coreasaunt on the nexus routes, showing that they had at least a couple of planets in the core as otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to reach the nexus routes.
An excellent video !
Always been curious about how nano technology and Von Neumann machines are basically never addressed in Star Wars
Nano droids where mentioned being used in the Temple bombing and i thing the jedi used nano tech to alter Obi wan's face so he could go under cover.
I don’t know if this channel changed narrators or if this guy just grew up & dropped that stupid voice lots of Star Wars channels used, but I’m glad either way. Great video!
Sounds like it would've been the Verdun equivalent of the The Clone Wars
This is a great video
Hey Eck! You should do a video about if the imperial fleet at Endor could invade United earth in horizon forbidden west
Mandator 4 vs eclipse
Outer Rim sieges were brilliantly set up. Draw bulk of GAR away from the core and the. Attack the heart of the core (Coruscant) showing that the Jedi are incapable of protecting the core when put in charge of the GAR
The Outer Rim Sieges seems kind of like the closing months of the Pacific War in WW2, the Japanese (like the CIS) continued to attempt ever more desperate counter attacks, while the Allies were faced with the grim prospect of grinding through the Japanese home islands.
In Labyrinth of Evil I think they say the clone army had become bigger than the CIS droid armies (for Legends) in the lead up to ROTS.
They should make it a series 👀
the Outer Rim sieges where basically just GRINDERS pure and simple.
Ship verses ideas:
MC80 Liberty type vs MC80 Home One type
CR90 corvette vs Raider corvette
Carrack light cruiser vs Strike-class medium cruiser
Gladiator Star Destroyer vs Vindicator heavy cruiser
Yet the outer rim seiges were cool and all, but I wanna see more of the reconquest of the rim, only time empire fought against an equal foe until well after endor
its basically the outer rim sieges
Imagine how much longer the war would've lasted tbh... (honestly tho they couldve made the clone wars last for a long time considering obi wan's age at the beginning of a new hope)
It would've been shorter
@@tk-6967 maybe
@@LordMrBoss Def woulda been shorter. Without Palpatine and Dooku controlling the Separatists, they woulda just overwhelmed the Republic in waves of droids.
Fleet battle between
Grand admiral Thrawn vs. Ender Wiggin
Each one has an equal sized fleet with equally capable subordinates, and since Ender is from a different universe each has equal understanding of the technology they’re using. They are in command of Star Wars vessels. Pick a famous fleet of your choosing I’d suggest death squadron
T-65 X-wing vs Vulture Droid
Hey Eck, how would the Republic have fared without Palpatine's influence? Suppose he never rose to power, and the elements for the Clone Wars to happen were still present. Would the Republic have dominated, fractured more, fallen, or stalemate?
I figure at least the lines wouldn’t be so clear cut and we get lot more variety.
Less of a corporate outer rim
Core world republic division which would have let both sides be more evenly matched.
War would have probaably been more intense with large scale conscription and mobilization
Video ideas! How about some ship/character versus videos soon? My recommendations are:
Ships:
• MC90 Star Cruiser versus The Nebula-Class Star Destroyer.
• Peltast-Class (Empire of The Hand) versus Aggressor-Class (Zann Consortium.
• Crusader-Class corvette (Zann Consortium) versus Lancer-Class Frigate (Empire).
• TIE Defender versus Yuuzhan Vong Coralskipper.
• TIE Punisher versus K-wing.
• TIE/LN (Regular/Standard TIE Fighter) versus Vulture Droid.
• UNSC Infinity versus Executor-Class SSD, or Eclipse-Class SSD, but not both at once.
• UNSC Infinity versus Viscount-Class Star Defender.
• UNSC Infinity versus Keldabe-Class Battleship.
• Keldabe-Class Battleship versus Kandosii-Class Dreadnought.
• UNSC Infinity versus Subjugator-Class Heavy Cruiser (Malevolence-variant).
• And finally, as a joke recommendation, CR90 versus an Executor-Class SSD, or an Eclipse-class SSD, but not both at once.
Characters:
• Darth Caedus versus Lumiya, Darth Krayt, and Darth Sidious (One at a time for all of Caedus' enemies, and you can choose whether ROTJ Sidious is a better match for Caedus, or Dark Empire Sidious is better on your own).
And if there was a fan based movie for the silver screen (think _Who Wants to be a Superhero?_ , but its up to the fans to drive the story & determine the outcome), which sci-fi would you join & which one(s) would likely win in a versus (i.e. despite joining a losing story/setting, you love it so much that you gave the best performance, ever)…
may I say that your Videos feel more like Star wars then the sequels?
With all the storyline that has been filled out since episode 3, it seems like the clone wars were a lot longer than 3 years. More like 5-10 years.
What would happen if the yuzhan vong appeared years earlier forcing the republic and cis to unite! How would the war go? Who would win? And what would be the aftermath for all factions concerned?
what happened to the inquisitors? they seem to all be dead by episode 4.
Palpatine disbands them bad they still had some authority. We know that the female inquisitor (not Reva) from Kenobi is alive after ANH, and is likely either killed, captured, or simply has her armour taken from her by Lina Graf of the Rebel Alliance.
@@tk-6967 thanks!
Vs matchup Sgt. Johnson(Halo) vs Captain Rex(Star Wars)
Johnson gets Br 55, 1 m6 sidearm and marine BDU
Rex gets DC 15 rifle his pistols and phase 2 clone armor
You got to remember it was palpatine really controlling both sides
Pls make a what if Yoda stayed on Coruscant, during Ep. 3 !!
If I owned Star Wars I’d make a lot of stuff about Imperials.
I honestly thought Anaxes was still in the deep core in clone wars s7 and was like a retaliation of the CIS into Republic space.
Imagine a Sabaton album about the Clone Wars...
