Part 2 - Raag Durga

Tabla - Ustad Akram Khan
Komal Nishad organizes Sampurna Ratri Utsav frequently, where musicians perform from about 9 pm to about 7 am. We are extremely encouraged by the audience turnout at these concerts. At all hours, and through all the performances, we see that the seating is almost always full. We have been told time and again that this concert format is something that people enjoy a lot; also maybe due to the fact that the artists list and order is very well thought out and raagas are picked in disucssion with the artists in such a way that there is a seamless flow of raagas. In this particular Sampurna Ratri Utsav we had Kalaji opening for us, followed by Shri Arshad Ali Khan, Ustad Shujjat Khan and then Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar ji.

The violin sounded like it was more bass than usual: was there a crack in the wood or something? (Sometimes, two sounds came on the same bow operation.)

Dr. Pai ji, we have a format to our concerts and are probably one of the very few classical music channels who are bringing the exact experience our live audiences have to our online audiences. One thing different with the online audience is that they can skip and go to the parts they like.
In general we have seen more appreciation for our format than criticism. We think that's good, especially since the people who do not enjoy the introductions can skip.
