Another feature you might not be aware of is that all pushbutton-start Subarus (all yeas and all models) have the ability to set an access PIN code on the tailgate using an extra button located to the right of the tailgate release button. This allows you to unlock the car using a five digit PIN if you have lost your fob or if a child or pet has somehow locked themselves inside, or perhaps you want to deliberately lock the fob inside the car when you go to the beach etc. Another cool feature is that the seat and external mirror positions are remembered for each driver profile (five profiles max).
It’s not just one gear…it’s almost infinite gears. It’s called continues variable transmission because its a continuously and seamlessly shifting transmission. It varies between a big range of possible gear ratios to make the best of the engine power an efficiency. It’s the smoothest most efficient gearbox you can have. With normal driving you’ll never need high revs.
The problem with "Emil Frey" is that they're ... unserious. I ordered a Subaru Outback in July with delivery in November 2021. Today (03.12.2021 - after 4 months of waiting) no one apologizes for non-compliance with the contract and no one can tell me the date of the car delivery. My rating for Emil Frey is 4.7.
@@SDADanCars Thank you for your answer, but the chip shortage was also known in July. It takes between 1.5 and 2 months to transport a car from Japan to Switzerland (especially now when the ships go at half of speed to save fuel). I don't think that a company like Subaru didn't know if it could produce a car in the next 2 months, especially since it was already part of the stock ordered by Emil Frey. But the worst part is that no one takes responsibility and offers an alternative solution (such as the possibility of changing with another car that is already in the country) or something else. It seems that the client is to blame for this situation. But who knows, maybe a miracle will happen in the next 2 weeks. Maybe in the future it would be good to have a test on snow and ice to check the all-wheel drive system. 🙂 Keep up the good work! 👍
Good review. Thanks. I used to have Outback years ago. My was 2005 and had one thing that this unfortunately doesn't - frameless doors. Why there is no 360 camera but some silly side view? One more thing. This is e-CVT not CVT. It makes a huge difference. Keeps in lane way better than any Lexus.
Frameless doors are PITA if you want to have rigid body, everything is going to squeak etc. Check videos with diagonal hanging of this car, you could open doors and all the gaps of all of the doors are within the norm.
CVT gearboxes are really a great idea in scooters, because these small vehicles need always to break with the brakes, you can´t use the engine of the bike to break when you down a hill for example, plus it´s great in fuel consumption, but in cars you lose the feel of the shift between gears.
HI, I got 30k budget should I get Crosstrek sport, Forester Premium, or Outback Premium? I will be using the car for opportunity to make some income such as deliver food, packages and some uber/lyft work as well.
Id really like the Field edition Outback. I had the previous shape, fantastic car, plenty quick enough, comfortable over any surface and sounded great. Not forgetting its a bit noisy as its a boxer engine, they also tend to pull at higher revs but they have such great character. I dont like smooth engines as when they rev they sound bland, become boomy and sound a bit strained. The only real issue I have with this car, and same goes for a lot of new cars is the amount of ridiculous, pointless and distracting technology there is. Totally unnecessary most of it in my opinion although if I got one of these I would just have to live with it. Being in control yourself and not relying on the car to do it all for you is how it should be. We will end up with a generation of drivers who simply dont have the reaction or observational skills to be safe on the roads. Touch screens are far too distracting with all the connectivity as well.
Subaru made a long way from old tech Cars to models offers today. Still they have a long way to catch the gap to reach competitive brands. Good job tho.
It's a shame we can only get the 2.5i and not the turbocharged one like in the States. The 2.5i is so slow and you have to ride it at heigh revs due to the CVT. Technically speaken it is a great car, one of the best build now a days.
Not if its a pointless hybrid like the Forester and XV, which apart from a bit more power they dont run like a Prius on just electric round town, and economy is no better. If its to be a hybrid, it has to work like Toyota or its a waste of time. Me personally, I like this car because its NOT hybrid. A 2.5 NA engine, I had the last shape Outback, fabulous cars. If you can afford to buy one, you can afford to run it :D
A great car, design is also unique. It's just a shame about the consumption, naturally aspirated boxer and CVT is a bad combo I think. The boxer doesn't have enough low end torque so the CVT keeps revving up, which makes the economy bad.
Nothing wrong with the NA engine. I had the previous model. Plenty enough power and guess what, the road isn't a race track. I never felt a lack of power. If you want more pull, put it in "S" mode. A golf GTD couldn't keep up with me in hilly terrain, and yet that had more BHP per ton. People just dont understand how to drive cars these days without turbos. CVT is perfectly capable if you know how to use it properly. Too many people like you these days that think a car has to be powerful to get somewhere.
@@oddities-whatnot I'm talking about the consumption, Subaru's have much higher consumption than comparable vehicles on the EU market, that is a fact. The reason is both that the boxer engine is not particularly efficient, and since it is NA it has to rev up much higher during acceleration to make the same power as a turbo at lower rpm. Although I agree that people don't know how to use the CVT, as they are very rare on the EU market (most Automatic cars use TC or DCT transmissions).

But in the colder states frameless doors is a real pain.

Jack and Jones 😁👍
Cum ti se pare calitatea la interior comparativ cu branduri europene(ex: BMW, Audi). Mersi :)
I prefer the traditional shape of the cockpit, but digital, instead of the rentagular and long one piece seen in a many new cars.
Yes 👍
Its why I user apple maps for navigation, the tomtom built-in isnt bad, but not great.

Do we realy need feel between gears? Electric cars have it?
Nice review. I noticed you haven't done any mountain driving. Do you think the car has enough power?
Yes I think it has enough power 👍👍
no power for high speed driving, slow and soft sprung. good for america not europe
