We all love EVs but love isn't enough and these CEOs aren't dumb. As a scientist I would be happy explain if you are interested.
They know there's a scarcity of rare earth metals coming and cars will come to a halt.
Toyota owns 20% of Subaru stock. There's your answer right there. That would have to be one of the largest holdings if no the largest. Toyota probably put their cndidate in as CEO and now their CEO is gone and they are changing alignment, then Subaru will porbably need to follow. The 3 day delay was probbaly to organise a board meeting.
Looks like a bunch of government owned nationalized (internationalized?) auto companies to me.
Is that true or false? I don't know if there is an industry left that can be considered free enterprise. None of us can compete anymore.
You are free to buy what ever government approves,---but you already paid for it before it was produced.
Did I ever tell you how cool the USA used to be? I think I will have my coffin made from a 57 Chevy. Fill the tank up for me, will ya?
Scratch the 57 Chevy. Not good enough. I want to be buried in a Tucker. That is when the real USA auto industry ended for the rest of us.
Subaru engines suck anyway, so whatever.
Toyota should have used Honda K-series on the GR86. If they were able to collab with BMW for the Supra, they could have done the same for Honda. Imagine if the GR86 had a K-Series: stock internals tune up to 300hp n/a, 400whp turbo. Good luck doing that on its current subaru engine on stock internals.
I just hope they don't screw it up. I've driven Subarus since the 90's. The last one I bought in '15 I didn't even bother looking at other brands or taking it for a test drive. I should be ready for another car in a decade or so and I'd like Subaru to still be a slam dunk decision. I live in the frozen north and their AWD is just what I need. I'm not an off road person, but our roads here can get pretty nasty with snow/slush/mud ;)
I also own a 15 Outback, great car !
I got my first Subaru in 1995. Just bought my 7th, a 2023 Outback. It is really hard to even think about buying any other car.
Where do you live? Siberia?
@@deller5924 Close, I live in a prairie state and not too far south of the Canadian border. Winters are cold and windy here. That leads to some nasty roads at times. And then of course when all that melts in the spring we get ice and slush. For some reason there are a lot of Subarus around here ;)
I have a 2010 Outback 6 speed with 180 000 miles on it. I have also been given a 2013 Outback with a blown CVT with same mileage as my 2010. Using it for parts and such. Anyways, I really love my 2010 Outback. Really am easy car to work on if you like to fix your car yourself. Their AWD is the best for public roads.
I hate it when "car experts' say companies like Toyota and Subaru are dragging their feet to go EV. It's cause they aren't stupid. Ford and GM have lost bullions going EV. They lose money for every EV they make. But, hey, they know the US government will bail them out. Can't blame the Japanese manufacturers for not wanting to lose money.
Lead, follow or get out of the way. The bailout excuse is tired too. Get with it, Rich
They might lose that gamble this time.
Businessess follow where the money is. Money is with electric vehicles. Not internal combustion. Tesla's making a sht ton of money for sure, that's why everyone is following them. They just gotta do it right. It's just money. Simple as that.
Who's really behind the push for EV vehicles? (CEO's aren't talking the truth because they're being blackmailed)
There's something nefarious going on behind the scenes in our monetary/financial, consumerism/marketing and production/manufacturing in ALL industries... just sayin...
@@eddiep812 the market. The market wants EVs. That's it. These CEOs just follows the money. EVs are trendy, that's why they sell. It's literally just bandwagon.
Another outstanding and thorough video, Scotty. Thanks so much. As a long time Alaskan and an owner of multiple Subarus, over the years, I can attest to their reliability, affordability and outstanding all wheel drive system.
Bought a Forester a year ago. I like the fuel economy and driving position (I'm 6'-6" tall), but have minor annoyances with infotainment UI/functionality and front cabin layout. Dealership service experience is phenomenal so far. My favorite feature may just be the adaptive cruise control (paces slower vehicles in front of you automatically). AWD has been great for my smooth garage floor in wet weather.
I bought a 2018 Outback a year ago and I couldn't agree more. The UI for certain things are downright awful and the climate control. You have to look down (below the touchscreen!), find the buttons, press repeatedly to change the settings WHILE LOOKING AT IT because there's no other way to see what the setting is. The display is tiny and the button are barely visible particularly during daylight. It's impossible to see if the AC is on. I mean, where's the snowflake? Wut?! Back in the good old days you turned a knob and slid the fan speed controller and you did it w/o looking. So simple!
I’m thinking this is why Akio Toyoda also decided to step down. He said awhile ago that EV is not the future but I’m sure the board of directors and shareholders who have a higher say where not in agreement.
Maybe American government threatened him. America is run by gangsters anyways. You do as they say or you die
It's mainly the media and government that is pushing EV's. They are a powerful bunch. Free market should dictate what consumers want in the end. That is the only way it will be successful.
😂 @ shareholders having a higher say in anything.
His vision includes fuel cell technology. More importantly, the question SHOULD be why haven't engineers developed a gas powered vehicle that actually yields more miles to the gallon?
Watch….they will all come together and start their own car company. The old are wise and will do something that will be extremely profitable
Of course
owned 2 manual subaru outbacks, both bought with 300000 miles on them and never had an issue other than replacing couple wheel bearings and cv axles.
I drove them since the mid 70's. They always rotted out from under me in 10 years and eventually became cost prohibitive to repair in the 2000's. So I switched to Toyota.
@@williebeamish5879 thats fair, my first subaru was very rusted, but if your getting 10 years out of a car that cost less than say 5000 your doing pretty good. i to think the manuals are built better, the automatic transmission (4eat) or whatever they call it would never last 300,000 miles without work
I’ve got a CVT outback and really wish I had gotten the manual instead. Great car, but AWFUL transmission. It’s slow to change ratios, it habitually lugs the engine, and I get the feeling it’s going to fail in a spectacularly expensive way one of these days
I have a 2220 Outback premium,my third Outback!I have 23,000 miles on it,and the CVT works great.Maybe it’s because I am 74 and don’t beat the hell out of it!
@@tomfilipiak3511 or maybe because it has 23000 miles
When the chief of Toyota says battery powered cars are not what they should be doing, maybe we should listen. Hybrid is the way, and they know it. Subaru sells cars that are supposed to be able to get away from it all on remote dirt roads, a concept that seems counter to making the car reliant on being able to plug in to the grid and weigh much more than a fuel powered car. If you want a Tesla, get a tesla, if you want a Prius, get that, and if you want a flat four gasoline engine mounted properly with proper all wheel drive, get a subaru. No need for everybody to stop what they are doing and build Teslas.
This Administration has gone Crazy about EV. So they can be a part of the vehicle line up, but NOT the only vehicle to buy.
The wilderness trails and remote areas don't have charging stations, let a lone a gas station. Until electric range technology drastically improves with some way to regenerate electricity, offroading will be impossible with EV especially during the winter. Let the Subarus be the Subarus.
@@bwest-yq3uc - The administration has gone crazy full stop.
It's more than this administration, it's the world. The EU and Japan are also making the change to environmentally friendly vehicles.
I guess they're guided by facts & science rather than a stooge for the oil & gas companies
Absolutely correct
I won’t buy an EV, I won’t live in a Pod, I won’t eat the bugs
The EV simps never learn and don't even question who or why they are being pushed so hard. Most believe they are helping the environment when 99% of energy still comes from coal and oil/gas, not their mythical solar and wind.
I will not eat them in a box or with a fox. I will not eat green eggs and ham, i will not eat them Sam I am.
I agree they want us living in cardboard and tin shacks with no electricity that's the goal
They're seeing where things are going, getting out while the brands are top notch. Good way to keep your legacy clean.

@@raichuraichu7632 when you comparing 10+ years technology and 110+ years, and in many aspect is better (acceleration, instant torque, limited by tiers, use less space), yeah is better. You forgot to mention moving forward. We have been using ICE cars for over 100 years, time to move on.
@@aknsd2009 No
Very true. Companies see the money to be made in the short term, even if EV's aren't a strong sell in the coming years.
Either electrify or run ICEs on something non polluting like K1 kerosese. Why not do that; this year?????
@@aknsd2009 they had electric cars in the early 1900. I think half the cars were electric.

We put solar panels on our townhouse. They generate electricity inches away from its usepoint and shade our roof. If we were really worried about availability of electricity, we could buy high-capacity batteries or a generator.
Why would “the government” turn off electricity? To whom are you referring when you cite “the government?” My electric utility is a user-owned cooperative. If you’re an adult, you should no longer fall for tales of amorphous bogeymen.
We just bought our first Subaru in 2020, and we love it. I hope they don't change, as I would like to keep buying them.
Something else is going on when senior car executives start leaving, especially when their position is fairly lucrative.
Thanks Scotty, We own an Outback 2019 and it is the best car we have ever owned. 4 cal. Runs like a top all the time. Don't care about the exact swap but don't care about electric vehicles. If anything I think Hydrogen fuel cells would be better than electric.
They need to bring back the Baja!!! It was way ahead of it's time and would sell like crazy. As long as it was a combustible engine. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Good video Scotty.
yes plz.. bring back the bug eye too.. 20th anniversary edition lol.. STI WRX neo bugeye... and a baja.. or a brat... we dont want cross treks lol.
The Baja was a callback of the Brat or Brumpy if you're from Australia
@@customerservice9602 a guy in my home town had the Baja with jump seats in the back. I thought forever he did that aftermarket but they were like the brat seats. That one was hunter green with tan banding like the obs. I tried to buy it from him three times lol. Money in hand he said no. Can't blame him he knew what he had.
It didn't sell well, unfortunately. Even I wanted one, but when it came down to it, I bought the Forester XT.
Bring back the Baja and make it compete with the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz.
I've had 4 Outbacks. The last two have had the CVT (aging left leg and Boston traffic meant bye-bye manual). My 2012 was sloooow. The CVT feels much, much better with the Turbo in my 2020 XT. Easily the best of the four so far.
I've owned 8 Subarus going back to my '78 GL Wagon. I stopped buying them when they dropped manuals and went to CVT.
I sure as hell won't be buying an electric one.
a lot of subaru owners in the pacific northwest are hikers. Rural locations aren't too friendly with plugging charging stations.. which means few. I don't have a garage, so I got a rav4 hybrid. I drive like min 62 miles a day.
No electricity at your house?
I think this is why Rivian is building out the adventure network for people that need to charge near hiking or overlanding locations.
Charging network is easily within range of anything in your area.
Same here in Northwest Arkansas. Hikers and mountain bikers, you can’t drive anywhere without seeing a Subaru

Scotty I heard the congress wants to raise the gas ⛽️ tax to make up for the EV's which don't have a road tax. Working people who can't afford an EV subsidies the rich.AGAIN
And it’s not like EVs are clean cars.
I use to live in California and they vote to raise the gas tax/bridge tolls every chance they get without any pushback. Unfortunately, all of the blue collar workers who cannot afford to live in the expensive urban areas and who have to commute 2hr to work have to pay for it. All of the wealthy urbanites who can afford to live in the cities with their short commutes get to pat themselves on the back for being Green while sticking it to the working stiffs who drive their "evil" ICE vehicles... they should go drop $40k on a Tesla.

I own an EV with 170 mile range. It’s a commuter appliance at best.
So buy 400+ mile range EV, it is as saying that ICE cars have short range, because you have one with 10l fuel tank.
I own an EV with a 150-mile range. My husband uses it for commuting, and I use it for evening and weekend activities for our kids. Our “commuter appliance” is extremely useful. What’s the complaint?

Sorry, but for me you are troll on internet which saying have EV, but in reality only wants "prove" they are bad.
My husband has a Tesla but Im not really on board with electric….I bought my first Subaru Outback XT. Love it!
We owened a Subaru Crosstrex plugin hybrid and the fuel mileage was about 23 mpg, it was really bad, so bad, we traded it in and got a used Impreza and are getting about 32 mpg average now.
Thanks again on the Subaru news.. I work at the plant so any news about them gets the word out.. Love the information.. Have a great weekend Scotty .. enjoying your RUclips videos..
I know the 2.5 crosstreks will be made there now along with the new wilderness crosstrek. Look after that quality for us! Make us proud to own an American assembled Subaru!
@@zaphodhead1 The Crosstrek is going to have a Wilderness model? That's good to hear, wonder if it'll be an XT?
You should . . . change your name to *Because I Care*
I’ve got a 13 legacy 3.6 R, I think after this model everything else went downhill the new legacy is hideous!
I bought a 2023 OBW in October. My first Subaru. I absolutely love the car, but it had a couple of odd issues. The dealership sorted them out. I called SOA to see if I could get some additional coverage on an extended warranty I intended to buy. I told my advocate about the issues, and to my surprise, she gave me a 6yr/80,000mi gold plus warranty for free. I couldn’t believe it.
I had the first service done last week, and the dealership already had the warranty verification on record.
Battery availability, charging station infrastructure, inconvenience time spent charging, low mileage per charge, original source of electric power and vehicle price are all the reasons why I am skeptical about the success of the electric vehicle.
But other than THAT? Ahem.
I'm not skeptical at all, they won't sell.
That’s why I buy Subaru. I like to keep my life style simple and not complicated. Am on my second Subaru and still keeping my 12 year old Subie.
Thanks Scotty!!! We are on our 6th Subaru! All three of our boys learned to drive in a Subaru. Not wild about their CVT thought. We traded our Tribeca for an Outback, used of course. Less than a year later when the car had gone over 100k miles the transmission went, $10k to replace, you can’t repair!!! What kinda deal is that!!! But we’ve stayed with them, only buying automatic transmission versions in the Forester or Outback lines, they can go just about anywhere in ALL road conditions. I truly hope that doesn’t stop!
What about the crosstrek?
My 09 Outback was made in Indiana. Maybe that’s why it seems to be falling apart between 100-120k miles.
I have a 2021 Crosstrek. I was elated to find a manual transmission but the limits on the options for that really made me wonder. None of the safety enhancements and only the smaller engine.
I respect the Japanese CEOs that are standing up AGAINST the EVDelusion.
Very admirable.
True. We need to be scared of new technology and revert back to middle ages tech! NEW TECHNOLOGY IS EVIL!!!!! /s
Not really….
Old guys getting out before the whole EV mess goes poof!
If there's a chip shortage why not revert and make cars like they used to without computers? I'm sure they can find a market for it, even if only limited. They can reduce the price for them so that the poorer people could afford it. No of course they won't do that.
You can blame the environmentalists for that! Most of the complicated computers for car engines are for emissions or fuel economy. If not for environmentalists, cars would not be so complicated.
I think we will all be restoring cars from the junk yards and driving these "historic" vehicles, just like they do in Cuba.
Could not meet current federal safety and fuel economy standards without computers & chips..ain't no going back.
@@carypyke935 My point exactly. They can't impose modern standards on old restored cars, only newly manufactured ones.
When Ford makes the Fecal, I know that some folks are so full of it that they'd buy one.
Scotty, you do a heluva job.
Unfortunately, Mother Subaru stopped building the Subarus I love and enjoy. They dropped the ball on understanding what customers want. Just because they build it, doesn’t mean that we’ll buy it. And it’s not getting any better as the years pass.
What year did they start delivering poorly?
At Lafayette plant subaru also makes ascent

It’s going to the dogs…literally. That’s all they market to is dogs. It’s federal law to have a dog in your Subaru at all times. Their marketing department is a frickin joke. What’s not mentioned in the video is the elimination of the WRX STI trim and the manual transmission option for the Crosstrek. Those are the 2 things that made me feel disappointed with Subaru these past few years.
Yep and the WRX GT is automatic only; also very disappointing.

I'm highly skeptical of the EV craze and have no plans to buy one in the foreseeable future. They don't have much range, virtually no place to charge them in my region, don't work well in the cold, and I'm afraid of the batteries getting wet on snowy roads. My plan so far is to buy a regular Forester again in a couple of years and there after just buy older used cars.
I love the older Subarus and there AWD is great for snow. My 2002 Outback limited had auto HVAC, stainless exhaust, dual sunroof, leather and 6 cylinder...but now there is No 6 cylinder and only CVT transmissions the power/performance is just ok at best and all the controlled run through a tablet. For my new car I moved to a 21 Acura TLX which also has an awsome AWD system and also a real automatic transmission
21? That’s old already
@@gustavogo2915 what does that matter.
Subaru should have paired a manual transmission option with the 2.5 naturally aspirated engine in the new Crosstrek. They used to pair it with the 2.0 (I think). At teh very least they could have kept that option. It is so friggin disappointing to me that so few people want to drive a manual transmission anymore. I mean, it really isn't hard, but it does lend a little fun factor to the car. I don't get it. Driving an automatic is mind numbing. At least in the sport version of all cars there should be a manual transmission option.
Heck, even a Corolla no longer can be had with a manual transmission. I would LOVE a Camry V6 with a manual.
I might need to go used
Yeeeeh
This will bankrupt Subaru. The market for hybrids in NA is vast. The market for EVs is marginal at best. If they engineer their cars to use commodity chips, the supply problem disappears.
Thats one way to eliminate head-gasket problems.
Or faulty cam position sensors..

I heard if you replace one tire in an all wheel drive car, all must be replaced
The Subaru plant in Lafayette Indiana also makes the Ascent 7 passenger SUV. Not every Subaru is all wheel drive, the BRZ is a front engine, rear wheel drive car.

I like the idea of LNG. Need to see this kick off. Natural gas is already everywhere and easy to build infrastructure at every gas station.
In Italy, Subaru also sell optionally its cars with LPG (apart from hybrid models). In other part of Europe, it was also available until the beginning of the 2010s.
The gas installations (actual gas, not petrol) have been used in Europe for over 20 years. At first they were aftermarket, later on some brands offered it as a stock equipment.

Not to mention the human rights issues with the majority of cobalt mined in the DRC. and/or the lithium issue - where China owns the majority of processing capacity.

Same with my 07 Outback manual transmission! If they made a modern 5 or 6 speed wagon I would consider upgrading
The whole point of EVS isn’t so much about saving the planet but about control as many farmers found out with brand new tractors with all the fancy computer technology. They couldn’t fix their own tractors or take them to get fixed by their own local mechanics, they had to take it to the brands own workshops. I switched out my stop/start button for one that looks identical but works exactly opposite. So I start up and drive all I want. If I am having a tree hugging moment of stupidity I push the button and then the car shuts off at every stop. Best $58 I have ever spent. Problem solved!
Batteries are crap and we are creating a far larger waist and pollution problem than we already have.
Great video, I think EV should be an option but not the only option. I also think the management changes will hurt the company for years to come. The pandemic hurt all industries (thank a lot China) but replace these CEO's because of low performing number, that is not right.
it's about control. They want everyone's mobility in a form that they can cut off like a monthly subscription. It's Biblical
Wasn't the US also involved in the Wuhan lab's gain of function research.
too bad. autocracy has spread far and wide and the last pandemic has shown that 97.6% of people are gullible sheep
It was your own government who hurt your economy. Not china
The Petrodollar is dead. That's why.
I hope they keep the manual options for the hybrids
Nope
You can't have a manual hybrid because the electric motor is right where the clutch would be.
I hope never to own an EV.
Amen. But I forsee federal and state legislation down the road penalizing owners of ICE vehicles being subjected to additional taxes, expensive permits, and even fines.
don't need that EMF radiation exposure or the remote turn off function that is super Minority Report/Fifth Element creepy. Not to mention getting screwed by the electricity companies who are going to inherit the current "sustainable development" cult controls. Feudalism on a global scale
Just another control device.

2018 Outback Premium owner. Believe first generation dashboard panel. It sucks mightily. The radio and touch screen, both are a total failure. After some many updates at the dealership, we gave up.
Subaru has made some choices that led me away from loyality (cvt). Geez abandon plug in hybirds? Seems like that is the sweet spot. Can go around town and still take a road trip. In my area folks are switching from Foresters to hybird Rav 4's.
And yet the plug in hybrid is probably the only sort of electric vehicle that makes any sense for me, use the battery for short journeys and the ICE for occasional long ones (if they can be made to a reasonable price). Full EVs are heavy, way too expensive and the range leaves much to be desired. I suspect it's a technology that's going nowhere.
They don't care. They want you to stay inside your prison pod called 15 minute cities.
Subarus have been sold in Australia for decades, we got sti’s even before the usdm did. What did you mean when you said Subaru is going to expand into Australia. They are some of the best selling cars here and a lot of older ones are still on the road.
Yep, we are on our seventh Subaru here in Oz since the early 1990’s. We have been a development market for them for ages…
Funny I can’t find one to rent for holiday to Oz. I wanna do the north of south Australia and Victoria and I want to drive a Forester. The hire companies don’t seem to have any foresters or outbacks.
Don’t care much about this new trend… BUT I very much enjoy this format and presentation about what’s going on with these 2 manufacturers…. Well done!
I’ve been waiting for a Forrester since last November. Maybe they could look into their supply problem ??
We got our 2022 Forester exactly 4 1/2 months after ordering. Not too bad compared to most other brands waiting period at that time.
Great to be informed even if it is, bad news. The owners of Subaru need to grow a pair. They are one of the best selling car from Oregon to Washington State and Canada. Would hate to loose battery power in a snow storm.
They want EV but there not even enough electricity for the ENTIRE world to have one
The entire world doesn't produce enough electricity to electrify all the ICEs just in California. (Cars, trucks, lawnmowers, chainsaws, tractors, cranes, PORTABLE GENERATORS! etc.) I also wonder how we can electrify the emergency generators in nuclear plants? Ever hear of Fukushima, folks? EVs stop research on alternative fuels like hydrogen and simply shift to mass combustion in fossil-fuel plants. 👉👉"Two-Hole" thinking. 👈👈(You get a hole in your boat so you quickly make another hole to let the water run back out. Problem solved.)
Exactly
The whole problem with EVs is that they've promised way more than can be delivered. EVs should be marketed as LOCAL COMMUTING ONLY. Charge it in your driveway and expect to do everything within a 50 mile radius of your home. That's all that should be allowed to be claimed. There should be a moratorium on new EV charging stations. Especially in areas where the grid is already at capacity.
If you want to tow something or drive further, then gas/diesel/hybrids are available.
Out here in Commiefornia, they don't even have enough electricity for people to run AC, let alone everyone's EV.
Also just a coincidence that we have more EVs than everyone else 😂
Current electricity is coal, natural gas, and nuclear.
Wind, solar, and other sources for electricity is abysmally small, not to mention subsidized (taxed, you pay for technology that cannot turn a profit, ie. failed technology).
More hybrids especially will help. The Forester is a great choice for an aging population. Roomy and not overly sophisticated controls. Subaru excels in survivability of the occupants. Eye Sight improvements and a host of safety features make it a very smart choice. Can use better camera systems. I mean, you can get a phone with amazing cameras but not your car? Silliness.
Thanks for the informing us Scotty on the changes at Subaru. My kind of car company.
You do realize the mining for and transporting the lithium for the batteries, uses more fossil fuel than the gas vehicle would take to make and use in the cars lifetime? Plus the destructive process to people and the land where its mined. Blows my min how you folks just blindly thinks this is a good idea and somehow better for the planet just cause the media tells you it is. Its nuts. It's so much worse for the environment than gas powered vehicles we have now
I have 3 old Subes, 2 95 sedans and a 96 wagon. All Legacy AWD models. I bought my first one in 96 and over the years have put over 850,000 miles on those 3 cars. I’ve replaced 1 engine and 2 transmissions, the rest is just routine maintenance and replacing common wear items. They are fearless in any type of weather, easy to work on and parts are readily available and affordable. Not long after these models Subaru wanted to become the BMW of Japan and that led to more complicated cars and expanded reliance on technology. I wish Subaru all the best, thanks to those 3 cars I was able to retire. Subaru used to be a forward thinking company so seeing them getting caught off guard by EV’s is disappointing. It seems the automobile industry is going to go through some drastic changes in the near future and I wonder what we’ll be left with when the smoke clears.
I have a Forester and love it. I hope things don't change too much or I will have to stop buying or leasing Subaru.
I was seriously considering buying a new Subaru in 2022 then I found out about one of their overly invasive features in the new vehicles named eyesight driver assist e technology that is tracking your eye movements. Not a fan of the so called driver assist features.
Please tell me you are joking? You dont think because its called "eyesight" that it actually has anything to do with the drivers eyes!
@@fredfischer8695 "Eyesight" has different versions. It tells you if you drift out of your lane, it tells you if the car in front of you just pulled away and you are still sitting at the light. It also helps steer the car when you have the cruise control on. However, the most advanced version of Eyesight also tracks the driver's eyes inside the vehicle and reminds you to keep your eyes on the road. It knows if you start falling asleep at the wheel or if you are engaged with your phone or even just having a conversation with someone in the passenger seat. It is true. I recently had a demo of it at my Subaru dealer.
I currently have a Subaru and I keep waiting for them to come out with a hybrid. That seems like a natural transition to me. I’m afraid EV won’t work for me I live way out in the country and I have a high criteria for being able to get somewhere without having to plug-in. Subarus typically are sold to folks that live in climates and conditions that are not attractive for an EV.
Like suburban soccer mom's?
@@bryanpoulsen8969 Well in my case a farmer in Iowa.
Don't feel bad if full Ev is not for you. There are simply no infrastructure for EV at the moment. Hybrid is pretty good for city dwellers. I don't think hybrid makes sense for country side.
That bowl is hot & spicy, thats going to make him sweat for sure... lmao... u nailed it...
I have some old electric cars that are fun. Haven't set up the slot car track in a long time though.
In Europe Subaru is sadly no more attractive, even all turbo Engines were cut out.
They have no more chance against Kia or Hyundai models.
Instead of downsizing and just sell small and weak engines, they should develope a super STI model 400 + hp and go against the Audi Quattro and VW R models, bring emotions back.💪
Hahaha. Japan has all kinds of light electric vehicles that you'll never see in the US due to tariffs
How do you take a Suburu fully electric into a state park if you can't charge it. EVs are a pipe dream with the current technology.
The "dragging your feet guy" is exactly like me in my life :)
Bought a Outback Touring in Nov 22.
Left Honda after 15 Accords since early 1980. First Subaru and I am never going back to Honda. Reason Subaru outback wagon is a joy to drive and comfortable.
2.5 has more than you need in power and the gas mpg I been getting is 32 mpg in running around town in Florida traffic. Air blows cold sound system is first rate. No issues with the Subaru. Honda could learn from Subaru. The Accord is a good vehicle !
But the newer model is cheap looking for $35k. Buy the Outback you won't regret it.
Not exactly true to say subarus AWD is on all the time. Most of them run FWD and a clutch pack will engage if the rear slips. So you don't have to activate it, but the front wheels are actually moving the car most of the time.
I'm hoping their next hybrid car is worth buying. They've made hybrid cars in the past, and their MPG have been horrible. Which is the entire point of a hybrid.
The Crosstrek's MPG (the ONLY Subaru hybrid in the U.S.) wasn't "horrible" by any means - it just wasn't worth paying the extra money for the hybrid option.
They are known best for busting head gaskets and never really fixing it completely.
The EJ non-turbo 2.5 engine with the head gasket issues was replaced with the FB series over a decade ago.
@@midwest_encyclopedic From my info they still have issues.
We need someone not afraid to bring there prototype vehicles to life..and up there horse power game. It's time for some great tweaks.
I wanted to buy an American-made car, but they tried to give me things I didn't want, like a CVT, Engine Stop/Start Technology, and cylinder deactivation. Then I checked out the Subaru, the head gasket problems are few years ago, the CVTs, and engine stop start technology talked me out of it. Then I found out that Mazda will give me a car without a CVT, without engine stop/start technology, and without cylinder deactivation. So I bought a CX-5 CE Turbo w/ AWD.
I still like that looks of some of the Subarus. But a car should be more than just looks.
I am thinking to buy CX5 for my wife. I am trying to convince to go for CX5 instead of RAV4, since I don't like the CVT crap. The Toyota dealerships seems always empty which makes think there is something right about RAV4!
Good choice, I own a 2021 cx5 grand touring and love it , the American brand suck anyways so you dodged a bullet lol
I’m all for electrification, but give me a hybrid so when I run out of battery, I HAVE AN ENGINE. 😊
My main issue with subarua is that dam supara outback suv crossover thingy going 80 miles an hour in the passing lane in the rural areas were the speed limit is 70 or higher and they dont realize they need to move a lane over
EV is great when you run out of juice. You just pull out your Jerry can and pour in electricity to the batteries 😂😂
Get joooooced😂
battery pack durr lol
I waiting to see all the homeless unplugging cords of the people in the city with street parking only to plug in a heater at night
Toyota and Subaru are wise to not go all-in on EVs, hopefully their new CEOs continue that line of thinking.
Why do you think they are being replaced. The government wants yes men ceos
@@ceciliaabdalla4954 A good point. There's plenty of EV flavored Kool Aid out there. The practices around mining for battery raw materials would "shock" EV owners.

My last subi was the last I'll buy. My 07 2011 2015 & 2018 were great! I bought a 2022 sight unseen & I sold within the year for a mazda 5 awd. So many undesired changes. I felt like I needed a degree in computers just to take it up the road
Self destructing CVT’s are to blame for declining sales
You're full of crap. The CVTs are just fine - Subaru's CVTs are considered best in class.

Should anyone tell him about Tesla sales being up 30+% YoY and Toyota being down 9% during that same time, or nah?
@@brads1545 You can skew the numbers to tell any story/prove your opinion. I could also say that 30% figure year-over-year is because the volume of total Tesla sales was so low to begin with, a 30% growth since the brand has become trendy is really not that impressive. Meanwhile, the decline of Toyota sales and most other big vehicle manufacturers is due to the lack of inventory because of chip shortages and labor shortages, all stemming from global pandemic shutdowns and restrictions (which carried on for FAR too long). Basically, choose your own adventure to explain the numbers as you wish to, just depends on which side of the aisle you sit. Scotty said it himself in this video, Subaru only managed to sell 900 of their sole EV product in the US market. Any way you slice it, that's a big ole fail, my friend.
Uh, they cant build them fast enough bro. Check your info, people are buying like crazy
Charles and the ilk are pushing global sustainable development which means the profit incentive aspect is irrelevant. It's a return to Rome and the feudalism "own nothing" era but with a technological twist
I love my Subaru Outback wilderness, best car I’ve ever owned!
Why?
@@freeffree4133 amazing 4 wheel drive, excellent clearance, great crash test rating, and the least amount of maintenance required of any vehicle I’ve owned.
@@autoplanetnews horrible gas mileage
Most likely another casualty of EV madness! I hope this doesn't sink Subaru, they make great vehicles...
When the infrastructure is competitive with gas stations and can charge up in 10 minutes or less and-are still drivable in freezing weather…EVs are a pipe dream.
I have 2013 Tesla. Battery failures occur starting at 8yr 100k miles. $20k+ replacement cost which is > car value. EVs are disposable and probably costing same or more energy to build (need more due to disposability) and run so probably same net CO2 output.
Suburu considers the U.S. as its most important market “with lots of future potential.” I wonder how important that market will be if a deep recession/depression occurs.
Short their stock
"If"........?
War is gonna be the biggest problem!
The companies that go all electric will be burned in the market. Very shortsighted. With the cost and scarcity of raw materials for batteries and charging infrastructure.
Especially when hydrogen infrastructure comes on line.
that's the intent....
I didn't want to buy a new car, but used cars are just as expensive as new (or nearly so) when you can find them. But I just bought a 2023 Subaru Outback -- got a better deal locally than I could on comparable Toyota, Honda or Mazda models. Great car, so far: non-turbo four-cylinder engine, the CVT doesn't feel like a CVT, and fit-and-finish are excellent.
Did I get one of the last "good" Subarus? I don't trust turbos or hybrids yet, and certainly don't want an EV with its higher cost and limited range. I don't need all-wheel drive where I live in Tennessee, but it's all that's offered on the Outback. The safety features and reputation for reliability are big pluses. Very comfortable, roomy enough, I think it's a good compromise between a sedan and truck. I'd hate to see Subaru mess up a winning formula.
3:30 If you find yourself going with the "mainstream" watch out! Popularity isn't a good gauge for knowing what it best. In fact, through history some of the best leaders are those who know what's right and does it regardless of popularity.
The ride in my new Subaru is the shits, too stiff for the weight. Also the throttle never understands where it supposed to be.
