  • Silhouette, from Naruto Shippuden, music by Maguro Taniguchi, piano arranged by ‪@Animenzzz‬, played by Richard Yang on Yamaha N1X with Garritan CFX VST.
    This piece was requested by BlackjackYak54, one of my channel members. This is a reminder that I do take requests (Animenz pieces or piano lessons, etc), mainly from my channel members as they show true support. Silhouette certainly is a catchy tune that's very fun to play and addictive to listen to. Difficulty-wise I would probably give it 6/10. It might be even easier if not for the fast pace, which might make the jumps difficult for some. The most difficult part is Section L, which takes some time to make it into muscle memory.
    Piano Lesson video will be released on 6/1: • Silhouette ~ Naruto Sh...
    As with all of my performances, I have my own interpretation, so the tempo, dynamics, etc may feel quite different from the original recording. Simply put, I play the way I like it.

    Great performance! I like how creative you were with the pedaling around 0:32. That section was tricky for me for a while. But I found that sometimes holding the notes in the left hand made it easier to play faster and greater balance. And this made it easier to coordinate the left and right motion of both hands. Just a tip for anyone trying to learn it.

      I’ll record the piano lesson this weekend. If there’s any specific troubling section, let me know and I’ll try to elaborate. But I think I can tell what part is easier/harder, so I’ll talk through the whole thing. Should help.

      Don’t forget to check out my Swordland. Released just before this. That’s a left-hand killer. I challenge you to try that one. A true exercise for the left hand. Evidently, I’m already past my prime, it’s too stressful for my left hand.

    Just realised that Silhouette is quite suitable for me to try more polyphonic-structured pieces. I have attempted The Everlasting Guilty Crown but I simply couldn’t tidy it up. Comparing to The Everlasting Guilty Crown, Silhouette is definitely less torturing.

      This is much easier than everlasting guilty crown. There are jumps, but it’s in a relatively jump-friendly key, so not too bad.

    The part at 0:48, at first I lifted the left hand fingers for a while after each beat. But I changed it up and found that not lifting the left hand allowed me to play it faster without tension. But doing this also requires the hand to be kept really low. Similar to the left hand in Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections: Working Together where the 16th notes exists first page or two.
    I have a weighted digital piano with wood keys and yours is a hybrid. Do you think that affects the ability to execute this part of the song using either technique of lifting or not lifting fingers? I don’t have a real piano or hybrid but curious to know if those ones would offer an advantage for this section. Maybe the keys lift up more quickly in a real piano action and gives more momentum?

      You feel tension there likely because you’re not used to playing the bottom G/D together on the LH. If you need to consciously think about capturing these two notes, you’ll get tension. Instead, if you can lock in your left hand “shape” (fix the shape with your 5-2 LH fingers) such that they can automatically move together without you having to consciously control each finger, tension’s “half”-gone. The other half is the wrist motion going in. The start of the 16th, go downward, the G/D on beat, you lift, and treat the next set as a new thing. This should make more sense when I show it on the piano.
      I highly doubt different pianos make a difference here.

      Yeah. I only omit the piano lesson if the piece is way too long (like Ghibli medley), way too difficult (BIOS), or not difficult enough (Amazing Grace). Anything else in between I will.

    Is there a difference between the lite version and full version of garritan cfx? I'm thinking of buying the lite version because i couldn't afford the full version

    • @RichardYangPiano

      Lite should be perfectly fine. You just can’t really “fine-tune” the sound. The preset sound with the symphony hall will sound just like my setup.

      If you are referring to the left hand at start of song, play the first octave notes BB twice by only bring your arm down once. This way you are not rapidly moving your arm up and down. Similar to a drummer. Then play F#A staccato. And place good arm weight when playing B. I hope this helps. And

    • @RichardYangPiano
      @RichardYangPiano  Год назад +2

      You’ll observe I normally just look at the sheet for the most part, but at 2:29, I was actually staring at the bottom G (where to jump to). In essence, to learn jumping, what you’re trying to achieve is for your finger to hit the 3-dimensional location that you stare at. For example, you’re looking at the bottom G, you need to feel where it is in space for your finger to get there. This is only an octave jump, I don’t normally need to look at it. But since this is the actual recording, I did look at it to lower the risk.

      @@BlackjackYak54 The beginning, it’s very important to note you only pedal on off beats (beats 2 and 4). The way to think is that beats 1 and 3, staccato on LH, and every set “resolves” on beats 2 and 4 because the LH on off beats end up on the same notes.

    • @BlackjackYak54
      @BlackjackYak54 Год назад

      I’ll have to see it in the video lesson when’s it’s up. I’m confused. Also, when I said staccato I should have said use the pedal but okay the motion as if it were staccato, because it allows a quick return to the bb octaves.
