Things you don't know about this video: I felt so bad for the staff who had to listen to that song at that cute second hand shop on repeat. I remember when I used to worked at Starbucks as a barista and my manager used to play one Bob Marley album on repeat non-stop for months. She's been doing that way before I was hired and she kept doing it when I left. When I asked her if we could play another album she got really sad "Bob Marley reminds me of my dad", I never knew what she meant, she never told me what happened to her dad so we just let her play that album non stop.

In the beginning, when you mentioned making sure to get lunchboxes since you were in Japan, i almost commented, "I'd be sure to get lots and lots of stationery!" And then during the mini haul, you mentioned the emotional effects of stationery on you. You get it, Fran. You get it.

OMG, I love stationery so much too! It’s so difficult to describe, either you get it or you don’t. So sad to see stationery stores have largely disappeared....so I hope that you can realize your dream of creating one!
Fran I love how you think the modular planner with customizable jackets is mind blowing 💖 Idk how other Asian country does it. In Vietnam, it's literally part of the curriculum below high school to color coded our notebooks with the paper jacket (similar to the one in the video) or folded thin craft into a jacket for our notebooks. Then, have a clear thick plastic cover outside of our craft paper jacket for optimal water resistance. So basically school stationary, but make it cute (and commercialized it) 😂
I’m so happy to see how vegan friendly Japan has become. I lived there 8 years ago with a friend who is vegetarian and it was such a big headache back then. I remember her ordering a vegetarian pizza and it came with vegetables and chicken. So yeah, awesome to see how many vegan restaurants have popped up!
I love the Tokyo vlogs, they make me miss the place so bad. I also cried in a stationary store there last year. I was so overwhelmed by all the cuteness, but it fills my heart with so much joy. Glad I’m not the only one! Can’t wait for the art supply video! 🥰
My mom and I managed to make it to Japan twice too, and you're right - everything is cute, and they have the most delightful stationery! I now own too many stickers. I don't know if we'll ever make it back there, but a big part of my heart is still there. Your smile when you two were laughing on one of the rides was everything. Seeing you and Ed walking through Tokyo, the familiar sounds and sights brought me right back. Hello Fran! I've been a viewer for a while, but thought I'd comment to say you should check out Midori planners / travlers notebooks if you havn't seen them before - they use a elastic band or cord in the inside to put multiple notebooks into - covers can be made out of paper, or fabric. It's similar to the pink cover you showed - I really loved the flexibility and customization to this type of planning. I hope you find them intresting or helpfuk, thanks so much for being a inspiration not only in your art but how you run your business, very ecofriendly! (I really loved what you do with the second hand shirts, I'm a art major in college, and love printmaking)
I love your daily lives but I also adore your travel vlogs. I get to see places I can’t get too but really want to visit one day x

I have two long distance friends that I talk to 80% of the time through mail - we only talk using social medias when we are meeting up irl and organizing that, or maybe reacting to each other posts on social media. So, heck yes, people still write to each other! And, even if they weren’t, you can be the first one to do it. Receiving a letter in the mail gives me more joy than opening Christmas or birthday presents. It’s very special 🥰
When I went to Tokyu Hands I picked up some little plates and bowls for my craft desk, and they're so handy to have. Especially if I'm card making and have little pieces of things punched out they don't get lost on my desk. Japan items ARE so cute, it's so hard to not buy everything. 😭
Ahhhh I just got back from visiting friends in Japan and I wish I had seen your vlogs beforehand--so many cool exhibitions and shops! And yes! People (myself included) DO still write letters ( #snailmail #mailart ) and if you made a stationery letter set it would be Ahhhmazing. I love everyday vlogs AND travel vlogs AND stationery hauls (sooo relate to your stationery feelings) so please share it all!♡♡♡♡

Hi Fran, I feel the same way as you do about stationery. Also I have just received the stickers from you and I can’t wait to share them with my closest friends. I happen to be turning 60 this year but with this pandemic two of my oldest friends (from first grade) and my absolute best friend have been doing weekly zoom calls and have just loved renewing our friendship. I am going to share some of the sticker sheets with them. They don’t know it yet. 😊💜
¡Qué ganas de ver el siguiente haul de papelería! Respecto a lo de las cartas, en el resto del mundo creo que la gente ya no envía, pero en Japón... uf el tema del correo postal ¡está a otro nivel! Todo se sigue haciendo por carta y hay mucha gente que aún mantiene las tradiciones, por eso hay tanto material de cartas en las tiendas.

I LOVE stationary stuff and makes me all giddy like a little girl. But I also really care about the environment and I feel so conflicted between my love for stationary and environment. Do you ever feel this way? And if so, how do you deal with it?

Omg I feel the same way!! And I've also dreamed about making my own stationary one day but also worry about this. Perhaps you could try to be very 'good' (like as zero waste as possible) in your daily life, compost, eat less meat or go vegan,etc, and so in that way you can balance things out? I think that's my plan :/ :P

Aug . 22, 2020 - Hi Fran, I also love stationery stores since the beginning when my mom took me to shop for a greeting card. My mother taught me how to appreciate things like greeting cards, gift wrap, matching ribbon, decorative tags & such. Later on, these card shops would expand to include assorted gifts & cute things like stickers & coffee mugs. ~ I am sorry to say, that here in NYC, for various reasons, mostly all the card shops, gift shops, stationery shops, school supply shops, even book shops - have just about all disappeared! It seems everything is done by computer & with computer nowadays, even photographs. So things like photo albums & picture frames have become non - essential. Even things like planners are non essential. ~ So I’m sorry to say, it’s like a rarity to write an actual letter & send it in the mail with a pretty postage stamp. {Why bother when you can just send an email or text? - That’s what all the younger people think & do . } • A funny thing happened a few years ago. I decided to channel my creativity into making greeting cards , & I found tons of ladies on you tube - who love making greeting cards by hand. Who would fo such a thing ? Wow ! I found an ocean of women who set up studios in their kitchens, apt, living room, you name it ! It turns out - that these housewives & grandmas were looking for a creative outlet.. And it turns out, “ paper crafting “ as it’s referred to, is a huge industry.. ( Really huge ) Most vendors sell their paper collections & supplies on line - or through Amazon. Because ~ all the supply stores are shutting down as well. ~ I used to hang out with these ladies a lot , but I had to back off because they are heavy duty collectors. And I don’t want to start investing in another industry where the only clients are other makers. It’s like a closed loop. !! ~ Coloring books for adult s are still hot & most people collect all their favorite artists, just like the boys used to collect comic books years & years ago.. Yez - I feel like crying, too. There’s so much beauty in these lovely design products, only no space to have them, & very little time to play. What shall we do ? 💠💁🏻♀️📝 I’m already a freak because I still use art supplies, & collect cute things. I still have books .. .. Old passions stay with me .. 🎊🤗😚I love your videos Stay creative ☕️🍡🗽

I visited Disney Sea last November and so glad we picked it over the regular Disney! A bit sad that Journey to the Center of the Earth was closed, but got to get on a lot of rides! Did you try getting a fast pass? That helped us a lot in cutting down the waiting time.
And the stationery! I didn't bring much money as I wasn't planning on buying a lot, but I could've easily spent everything I had just in Loft and Donki. I haven't even made it to Tokyu Hands!
Me personally I like ANYTHING you vlog about. It's like Christmas every time for me. :D

You're in NY city, so you probably have community driven art spaces where you can rent a kiln or a silkscreen print setup for a few hours and go put your illustrations on new stuff in new ways! :D
