Hey Tony, I'm moving back to "old-timey tech" with the Nikon after playing with mirrorless for a while. Is there any reason the Sigma/Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 isn't listed? Wayback when I had one of these as my main lens on a Canon 300d(?) and it was great then...

Out of all the 100’s of photography tutorials I have sat through over the past couple of months that has got to be the best and most worthwhile hour and a half I’ve watched. Only just got my D5600 after my D3500 decided to have a swim in the river after owning it for a month. Not only have I learnt about the camera but also learned some photography tips and ended up buying a great book. Thank you so much for the time you put into this video.

thank you so much for this video!!! I am a newbie and when I bought the D5600 I expected a manual of some type.. but instead just a piece of paper explaining how to charge and insert battery. I have been searching for a video like this and it was extremely helpful! You pointed out tips and tricks that I couldn't find even on Nikon's website. Thank you!!

B o b b y E l i e / Shadley Joanis true, I spent a long time comparing the two, but the D5600 has a few features the others don't such as the flip out screen, mic port, and both wifi and Bluetooth capability. I probably would be fine with the D5300, but I intend to shoot a lot of video with the D5600 and those features made it more attractive to me.

Gamma, I too just purchased the D5600 last week. I'm having a blast with it. The video from Tony was awesome, as are all their tutorials! You should however download a real user reference manual from the NikonUSA website. It is a large pdf over 20MB. It has EVERY detail covered. I just keep the guide on my dropbox account then I can reference it from my phone anywhere.

Just purchased the D5600 2 days ago, I know literally nothing about photography, and at 61 years old, I've left it a bit late, but I'm hopefully going to be able to learn at least how to take some decent photos.
Just found your video last night, and I have to say that it's one of THE best videos I've ever seen on anything on RUclips, very informative and very easy to watch.
I've just subscribed and will keep coming back.
    Thank you very much.

So, for my first non-kit lens on this camera, I picked up the Nikon 18-140 per your recommendation. It's way heavier than I thought it would be, but I'm super excited. I got the lens today, and I stopped out on my balcony to shoot a couple of pix in hard light with it. I'll check back later to let you know what my experience was. Thanks for the recommendation. Trying to learn my camera before we head to Utah to hike & take pics. I’ve been practicing and watching videos nearly every day. I’m a slow learner and I’m thankful for videos like yours that I can watch over & over to understand better how to work the camera correctly and get the right exposures. I’ve had some amazing pics of mostly birds, some small mammals and then I look and the pic is so dark! Or shaky. Ugh.

Thank you so much! You have an abliity to simplify the components of the Nikkon D5600. I have read manuals and tried to decifer what was being said. However, it was so poorly stated that it became very confusing. Your approach is fantastic!! I now have a much better grasp of the ideology and believe it will greatly help me to confidently handle this camera. I do plan to purchase your book! Thank You again, and best wishes success and prosperity! Healthy and Happy 2024 to you and yours!

Great video. My camera came with Spanish only directions so without you I would have been totally lost. I've had a love of photography since I was 15 and stole my mom's credit card to buy a Pentax 1000. As basic as you get but it forced me to learn a lot about the art that I would have missed otherwise. I'm 63 now and I have a Pentax D20 that is about thirteen years old. My wife and I had a discussion about if I really needed another camera. After all she said, you have a lot of them. I do have a few. My Pentax 1000, Pentax S10, Pentax S1 and a Canon EOS I bought for her and she never used. The D20 is still a nice camera but it's kind of like buying a Honda Civic and never needing another car no matter how old it gets. I'm retired now and my wife says I don't get out enough. I'll never be home now. I love this camera. I still don't know what Fn touch means but I set the Fn button to ISO control so I'm good for now. Thank you so much for the detailed video and I will be buying your book.

Hi Tony & Chelsea, I want to say a big thank you for the services that you have been offering especially via your youtube channel. I have come to learn a lot from your various tutorials. Been very helpful. However, what I am recommending is for you to set up your system such that you have a link between your camera and an LED Screen, so that whenever you are doing tutorials on controls, rather than we seeing it via the LCD of the device you are using, we can see them on a larger screen and thus we understand faster and better. In that case, we can easily see the setup changes and if photos are taken within those settings, we can easily see them on a large screen and appreciate them better. Thank you both for a job well done. I came into photography not knowing a thing, but now i can safely say i can conveniently use manual mode and a lot of other features.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I am new to the photography world as well as the Nikon 5600. This is so much better to understand than the manual. You're an excellent teacher.

Thanks a lot for this. I got my first DSLR camera (D5600) 1 week ago and after watching your video I was already able to take super nice pictures with the kit lens (18-55mm) during my weekend trip. It is incredible how well you explain in a super nice pace. Again, thanks a lot! Btw, just bought you Stunning Photography book as well!

Hi Tony. GREAT tutorial on the D5600. As soon as one major N.Y. retailer gets more in stock, I'm getting one. Even though I do have a great full-frame - a Nikon D810 - I'm finding with my arthritis, lugging around the D810 WITH my Nikkor 200-500 zoom lens is getting quite fatiguing when out the woods for several hours. Looks like this D5600, even through is Crop Sensor, is basically just as good but with a much smaller weight. Good solution for my photography needs. Thanks again for the great tutorial.

Love this video. I am a complete newbie to dslr photography and this camera. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video and also gearing it towards new photographers. I also have your books and I am really learning a lot!

I know I have watched this video about 3 times and have learned something new each time. Thanks so much for having it out there. I almost laughed when I got the camera and compared the manual of my Nikon D90 to the manual of the Nikon D5600. My husband said it was because no one reads manuals anymore..LOL So thankful this video is out there. Loving your Stunning Digital Photography Book as well..

I bought a D5600 a few months ago and tried to read the online manual and figure things out. Ugg. Also took a class (helpful) at the senior center, but this video is really, really helpful. The fact that I knew some of the terms was helpful, but overall, this is very user friendly. Will get your book and get shooting!

Was riveted by your Nikon D5600 tutorial. You were very clear and gave great suggestions to the extent that I took notes! I won’t receive this camera until my local vendor has it in stock again. Hopefully, I’ll have the camera before my Spring 2021 beginning photography class starts in mid-January. Your tutorial helped me feel more confident about my choice. It’s a bit investment for me. I’ve already ordered a second battery as you suggested and will likely invest in a remote timer, too. I’ll look forward to watching your other videos.

This is the perfect video for me... just ordered one of these and it's the first DSLR I will own and the best camera I'll have used up till now. So a nice lengthy tutorial going through all the stuff I have no clue about is awesome... thanks :)
