I’m Solomon island born. I have white Australian father. Mum is from Kiribati but raised in Solomon’s. I’ve lived in Aus most my life but very proud of my island culture. Remember all the island celebrations I attended as a child and hearing this song and watching the dance performances. Very proud Melanesian. When I’m having drinks and kicking it with my Samoan and Maori friends this song is a must in the playlist.
Pretty sure every Pacific Islander has danced to this at school concert 😂💖 This song has great memories 💫
Omg they were such good memories. I only remember this song from dancing to it
This song sounds a lot like the one in Moana, but then, the chorus starts and some old memory from my childhood and teenagehood comes back.

I am a Fiji Indian and found the music video in 2024. I remember dancing on this song when I was in kindergarten in 2007. Beautiful memories. The Pacific Island culture is one of the most beautiful cultures I have seen and it should be preserved. These kinds of songs should be made viral on social media platforms.

Loved this song when it came out and it has the same charm today... proud to be an islander!
They are not only awesome dancers, they're all cute handsome guys and the girls are fabulously pretty.
I really love Te Vaka’s music. I’m Alifuru tribe in Molo’uku Islands. We are Pacific Islanders too. So proud🔥. Many people said we are Melanesian. But culturally, I think we are Polynesian. Moluccan are just similar to the people in Hawai’i, Tonga and Aotearoa. And also, we have many similarities in language. TABEA !!
Thank you for your comment. Yes, we are all one people!
This is the first time I have heard of your Culture! Thank you for sharing!

It never gets old! We still love this song!
proud to be a penrhyn TAHITI .... penrhyn is one of the island in the cook island . this is our culture
this is why i want to visit the pacific islands. not for the beaches, not for the sun. for its people, its history, its culture, and the beautiful languages.
that’s really the only reason a person should visit ANYWHERE, really… it’s just that the pacific islands tend to not get the right sort of attention, instead just being “vacation resorts”.
there’s more to be found than just sand and surf, guys. there really is. just talk to a local or two and discover the truth :)
Trop bien !!! Majestueux !!!
Māuruuru (Merci)
