in the middle of the chaos of the virus and losing my job here in late 2020 i have been surprised to find comfort in the music from both the African and Polynesian people and cultures. this music, it feels so vibrant and rich with life that im finding my own Italian background to be downright stuffy and dull in comparison.
My favorite part, near the beginning, when the drummers just cast their sticks to the side, as if to say, "Okay, you go, girl!" Except in other songs, like, "We know the way," you can tell they're carrying the entire rythm. Like, they kick in and everyone starts to groove.

I can't stop watching this music video. It's just amazing!!! Makes me want to go their islands to learn their language, their culture, their dance and see what tattoos I can get from them. Their dance by the way are so energetic and culturally.

Love from Maluku!
GRACIAS TE VAKA!!! Mauruuru roa!!! This song helped me to save myself!!
I'm a tahitian dancer, from Mexico, I had troubled times, I was very down myself and at the hardest moment while seeking for polynesian music I came to listen this song, then my feet began to tap-tap, I got myself up and started dancing... my head was clearer and my heart beat OK!. Since then everything have improved little by little.
Now I'm back at Ori Tahiti and back to my good self!
After, I learned that LAKALAKA means steps (step/step)... such CHEEHOO I felt ! :D
Te Vaka "knows the way" for sure ;) !!!

Olivia's presence, beauty & craft truly an embodiment of a polynesian princess. Te Vaka nailed this song!! More power to you...
Some day I hope to travel to New Zealand. And hope to meet you people .peace and love .from ABQ New Mexico USA .
in the middle of the chaos of the virus and losing my job here in late 2020 i have been surprised to find comfort in the music from both the African and Polynesian people and cultures. this music, it feels so vibrant and rich with life that im finding my own Italian background to be downright stuffy and dull in comparison.
I am continually amazed at the diverse cultures we enjoy on Spaceship Earth!!! Thank you!
I literally have watch this so many times I love this song
So proud to be an Oceanian
Islanders are Always such Beautiful Spirits to watch.
My favorite part, near the beginning, when the drummers just cast their sticks to the side, as if to say, "Okay, you go, girl!" Except in other songs, like, "We know the way," you can tell they're carrying the entire rythm. Like, they kick in and everyone starts to groove.
Polynesian/Samoan cultures are so beautiful I love them so much
Why did you put samoan? They are polynesians also
@@bighawaiianpunch3534 people always do that weird shit 😂🤦♂️. I always see Polynesia/Maori or Polynesia/Tongan smh
WOW BLOW MY MIND! Thank you for sharing cousins!!!
Thanks tevaka for representin' pacific islanders up on the top!
No doubt this is playing in my household now my neighbors are going to know the words before they see this beautiful video!!! Love to all my brothers and sisters in the islands!!

Love it. Te vaka has been and will always be one of my favourite band. It's good Tuvalu made it in the cut haha because I'm from there, now residing in NZ.
NICE same
Love the music, the movement and the setting! And great to see a variety of peoples & cultures coming together. Thank you for sharing.
(I found this through looking for more about Polynesian history, Hōkūle'a and reading the book "Sea People- the puzzle of Polynesia").
Can not get this song out of my head. Very cool and nice hula!
This is amazing I love it and it shows our heritage
I have been interested in polynesian culture since Lilo & Stitch 😂😂 but I love how in the past years things like Moana and haka on events like red carpets and sports really have put Polynesians on the spotlight. I wish we keep getting more of this on mainstream media.
This remind me of Moana 😍. So beautiful. Embrace our culture ❤️❤️
I'm not polynesian but I love the culture so much💙💙
Not only polynesia, Pacific Islanders. Fiji is featured in the video and is a Melanesian country.
@@lazer8961 it's there because it features Polynesian cultures
And Fiji culture is nothing like other melanesian culture's it's Polynesian
