The best way is to do back crawls (On your back).Use your legs to push as you wiggle your back side to side. It's faster, trust me. I'm an army veteran. Roll only if necessary.

Thx. On Spartan Sprint in Munich i tried to roll. It worked fine and in the middle of the obstacle the volunteer at this obstacle exhorted me, that its not allowed to roll and i must crawl otherwise its not valid oO And on Spartan SUPER in Vienna the barb wire was so deep, even when you're face was in the mud, the wire was about 1/2cm over your head lol. No way to roll there :D

if you have trouble staying low you can always go on the sides as the wire is usually higher than in the center

I did the crawling on my knees and elbows which was okay for a while until the bruises built up. On the UK one there are stones under there as well.
