Yes! I think it’s really important for people to be more aware of lovebombing. My ex was like that…and once she had it me it got super abusive. Also I was just starting Uni and she was 12years older. I was immature, easily impressed and looking for a “fantasy” love because I grew in an abusive home. The same type of interaction can also happen between friends, it doesn’t always need to be romantic relationships.

They also often look for someone much younger, so it’s easier to control the person financially (come off as more successful and impressive and generous). With age gaps one always has to ask *why* someone that much older has an interest in someone that much younger, how come they don’t focus on someone at their own level? Many times it’s because someone their own age and who also holds down a job would put pressure on them to step uå and be emotionally mature (which they aren’t). They draw people in by making them feel seen and very valued and the second they hook someone on emotionally they start to break them down (hot and cold treatment and that’s part of the normalizing process of the abuse- where they keep moving the goal posts so the abused won’t ever feel they know how to act to get things right with the abuser, so they start to walk on eggshells and isolation is also a huge part here. Making sure the abused person won’t get healthy input by people outside of the relationship.) This can initially sound like ”ohh, do you have to go out and be with your friends because I had been looking forward to us two doing something special). The list goes on. The abuse goes in cycle, this ties the abused closer to their abuser this is the trauma bond! No one stays with someone who is always horrible and abusive. This hot and cold that makes the trauma bond stronger will create a dynamic where the abuse pays attention to the ”good” moments when the abuser is showing kind acts and being romantic and thoughtful and also displays deep regret about their abuse. The abused wants to believe them and tries again, so another honeymoon stage begins, but it’s extremely short lived. Then the active abuse is starting again (could be physical and mental/emotional/psychological abuse). If the abuse gets physical at all times there has been mental/emotional/psychological abuse). An abuser will often start to test the waters by correcting the other one’s chosen vocabular or roll their eyes to show disdain to let the other one know they are doing things wrong. * The abused isn’t doing things wrong or choosing the wrong words when they express themselves, it’s a tactic the abuser use to break them down and make them insecure). I’m glad this is a subject brought up at different education levels these days. My psychology classes at university had many lectures and exams on domestic violence and abuse in general in different relationship dynamics (platonic ones too). People don’t need to go to university though to learn about this subject. There are many books on the subject at local libraries, and if they don’t have them a request can be made for the library to buy them (look up books and ratings on the subject on google). If a person don’t feel comfortable asking about this at the help desk, a reauest can often be done from the homepage. The librarians don’t judge, this is there job and they are happy to help. Many libraries will also have pamphlets on women centers for domestic abuse and help lines for women and children. *This last info is for anyone reading this comment and who feels stuck and who wish to get help, but might not really know how).
