Making Lipstick Using a 1920’s Recipe

- It’s always interesting to experience the actual vintage formulas as they would have been when they were new. Here I follow a pharmacist's formula recipe book from 1920 to create a lipstick and apply it using a replica of Lip Stencils from the same period.

Lisa - this was so much fun!!! Let’s bring back lip stencils! I would LOVE to see you and Erin Parson do a collaboration featuring older style beauty products. That would be amazing!
Seconded on the collaboration, they are both so amazing and share the passion for history.
I was thinking the same thing; I would definitely buy them!
@@lindacoussement507 oh ah, I though we were talking about episodes here
Omg that would be awesome, and both would make some lipstics and make up looks...
Yes! That would be a fantastic combo!
Mother Lisa blessed us again with her incredible historic makeup film.💄
❤️❤️❤️
What a strange comment.
@@Enormous866she’s just having some silly fun
That lip color is so vibrant and beautiful. I get sometimes annoyed when period films make everything look washed out when people back then loved color as much as people today.
Lisa needs an exhibition at the V&A!
I would love that! x
I would have to cross the pond for that!!❤
I love these historical videos! I can remember my mom & a neighbor melting down the last bits of lipstick left in tubes & pouring it back into tubes. I’m guessing it was because they were not able to afford a new lipstick. I loved watching the process. It was like a science project to me😂
Fantastic!
I forgot to say, thank you Lisa, for making these videos, because they are really educational and I love history.
I'm so glad you enjoy them Xx
We are so lucky to live now, when so much makeup is available and we have freedom (or most of us do) to wear whatever we like.
Lisa rocks the lab coat! And I love her chemistry with this scientist. They resurrected an artifact. Gal pals! 💋
That color is AMAZING! If I knew being a chemist could mean that I could create makeup…I would have totally paid more attention to the sciences!!
Yes! Make more historical beauty videos! It's just so interesting to me especially when you're actually trying them out yourself! I would love to see you go even further back into history and check out some ancient forms of makeup.
This is why your makeup is so excellent and of extraordinary quality. You personally delve deep into the history of makeup of all time periods hands on and you respect the art of makeup. ❤
Oh my gosh Lisa...❤ Not only that I love everything about these episodes but also love love love this shows a lot more of your character and passion.
I LOOOOVE this series! My makeup nerd heart always swells up watching this. Lisa, you are a gift to us makeup nerds
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
I’m really enjoying this series, so interesting! ❤
Waow, that color was absolutely stunning! Bright as lights but red enough that it somehow didn't become too "over the top" or special event.
isn't it fab? so much fun to create xx
I just love love love that you are so into vintage make up. Of course, I love you as make up Artist in today times but your knowledge of the ooooold and ancient days is just the top of it.
So interesting! I've tried my hand at making my own lipstick and it's actually quite easy if you buy a pre-made base - there are some good resources online. I also got a proper mold in the kit but your method reminded me of something I ran across : before the "click in" refills appeared in the 50s, Revlon (and probably others) offered a molded refill wrapped in cellophane with instructions to bring it to the counter where the clerk would place it in your empty tube. Of course you could do that just as well yourself. Zero waste indeed.
What a stunning fushia/ pink-ish colour😍 I wish colourful photos existed in the 20' and 30's just to fully admire Hollywood celebrities' images / looks .
Thank you for another fun episode! I actually think the lipstick shade is very pretty.
I LOVE your historical/vintage makeup content! If yoube added anything to your vintage makeup collection please consider making an updated collection video because I've rewatched the older lne many many times ❤
A great idea xxx
I love this series!! So delightful!
So much fun❤❤
Lisa, could you do a tutorial using one of your eyeshadow palettes (like Muse, Sorcery, or Myth)? And maybe make it a "day to night" transition? (like a softer "day look" using the palette, and then amping it up for night?)
That’s a fab idea 💘
Amazing series! I learn with you! Thank you! ❤️
I just LOVED this video! I love that you always bring the make-up history into your videos. Please make more of what you're already doing and longer content than this, because I love the long in-depth vids!
The color is BEAUTIFUL!!

Carmine is my favorite colorant! I live in the desert and love collecting the bettles that make it up off the prickly pears when I collect the fruit.

💋💋💋
This was so much fun ! Thank you Lisa ;-)
Glad you enjoyed it! xx
What a fun video! And the side-eye you were getting for your Clara Bow lip 😆. Carmine really is a stunning red.
I love these videos ❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Loved this video❣❣❣ I adore that lip shape. Clara Bow and Betty Boop lips are tough to recreate for me freehand. I am definitely giving stencils a whirl💖💖💖
My two loves makeup and chemistry ❤ Lisa Eldridge you a magician
Thank you 😘😘😘
@@LisaEldridge ❤️
I love how you got the scientist (sorry i don't know her name) to relax a bit and laugh. It shows how sweet and warm hearted you are Lisa. I would be absolutely freaking out at having to be on camera if I were her! But she's really sweet and you both did a wonderful job 💕
Such a great color!!!! Please comercialise it❤❤❤❤
This was very enjoyable to watch ❤ and those lip stencils!!! Think they need to start trending 🤔 😅 😊
Maybe they'll come back in fashion! x
Hi Lisa. I am enjoying my new liners, highlighter and omg the cleanser sent from heaven❤Love from Copenhagen 😘
So happy to hear this , enjoy your goodies ! ❤xxx
I feel so much less inept knowing those women were using stencils and not just freehanding those shapes every morning. Can you imagine?
That colour is beautiful! When are you making it please! ❤
This looks like Ruby Woo with its color mixed with Rimmel by Kate 107. I'm absolutely in love!
Always love it when you’re in the lab 💄💋
Me too! xx
interesting and funny 😂 top tutorial 🔝
Thank you 😊 xx
Lisa, I have to say, you have such beautiful hands, and the glacé cherry red colour of your nails compliments the green and purple jewel tones of your rings so much! 💅💚💜Also, the stencilled lip you created made you look like Snow White, I guess that makes sense because the movie dates from like the late 1930s.
Fantastic quality video! I'd love to hear more about the chemist you're working with. I'm currently pursuing a biology/chemistry degree and work in beauty retail so its the perfect mashup of my 2 interests.
Goodness! I WANT THAT SHADE!! I don't think however it was a true shade in the video..
Oh, that color! That pigment! So beautiful! Any modern equivalent you'd recommend?
I actually think the stencil looked really cute! ❤️
Me too! X
Molto carino questo diveo, simpatico. 👏❤️💋💋💋
the lipstick shade is gorgeous! Could you please make this shade available in your velvet lipstick collection! Please, I am begging for this❤❤❤
I love the lipstick shade! So bright and happy! Lisa what nail polish are you wearing? It matches the 💄 lipstick!
This was FUN! 💄👄💄👄 THANK YOU BOTH
Thank you for watching 😘😘
hahahahaha super fun to watch 🤓 by the way i do think such lip shapes may come back and be fashionable again 👀
I completely agree xx
Love this! The colour is stunning.❤What would happen if these lip stencils were made now? That would be not dissimilar from the eyebrow stencils now in fashion. The mouse eyebrows are better in my opinion 😉
This was great! How does everything look perfect on you?
Loved this! When did the lovely scientist beg Lisa to do her make up….or is it just me who would have done that?? Thank you Lisa!
Where may i watch the full version
Might be interesting to recreate the entire look, eyebrows and all.
Lisa if you remade this color and added it to your line, I would buy it.
So Betty Boop 💋
❤
