      Money shift?
      I'm curious how the owner killed it...Was it like multiple track days or like I changed the oil 8k miles ago and I flogged it in 110 degree weather... Or 87 octane is best for performance...

    • @mariuszanfir2298
      @mariuszanfir2298 8 лет назад +7

      CSmittyBurz Pretty sure it was human error. You can't kill a Porsche engine that easily.

    • @xt6wagon
      @xt6wagon 8 лет назад +20

      The engines prior to 2009 have issues with oiling and other bits that make them pretty allergic to track use, and prone to puking even in normal driving. 2009+ have a pretty sweet upgrade in the oiling system to keep the motor happy even in high G cornering.

      @@MrCukydoh My father is a Die Hard Porsche enthusiast, has owned multiple porches like 944s, 911s, 914s, etc for at least 30 years, and according to him, the Cayman is more of a proper Porsche than the current 911s. The Cayman has a driving experience that you expect from a Porsche, the new 911s just feel like large luxury cruisers that can go fast, like an M series BMW or an RS Audi. Driving both new and Old Porsches myself, I'd have to agree.

    • @isea_
      @isea_ 3 года назад +2

      @@Bazzookie but tbh if it werent for that "fast luxury cruiser" then people would just go for the competitors in its price range. i love its rear engine layout because it allows rear seats while still having better performance than a front engine.

NOBODY GAF, its someones Idea of being unique and spending likely more money to do it especially on a build like this. Their money their car, its a nice build have seen a BBC in a 911 too, still a sbc/ls/sbf is easier/smaller/lighter. Most prefer the simple cheaper approach vs shoehorn/sledge approach more expensive approach

    People will be so quick to bash the Coyote engine like it doesn't hold great value when in reality its one of the biggest bang for buck V8 motors of this era. It can easily get you 550-580 to the crank N/A on a safe custom TUNE. I'm sure if you do H/C/I 302r heads, stage 3 comp cams, CJ intake then the sky is the limit.

SMOOTHEST revving engine I've ever experienced minus rotaries AND it revs to 9000 and it has the high pitched mechanical exotic sound. The flat plane crank v8 is a great engine but that 4.0 flat six is just on another planet. The 5.2 sounds great and is louder but man you need to hear the 4.0 flat six just rev out to 9000 rpm.

      With ease. A GT350R outruns a Cayman GT4 with ease.. and this is 600lbs lighter, has roughly the same WHP, lower drag, and you can still stuff a ton of tire under a cayman.

    • @BigHeadClan
      @BigHeadClan 8 лет назад +13

      Car & driver did a track test for a bunch of cars this year, including the GT350R and the Cayman GT4, the Mustang beat it around the track by about 3-4 seconds. So assuming this Cayman can handle track duty it should smoke everything up to a Viper ACR and Z06.

    Wow, what a package. Can't beat the weight distribution. For a more budget minded build the 996 with an LS can be done for something like 15,000 all in. Kinda the same principle. After all the IMS problems of the 3.4 a replacement motor was so much that the LS just made sense. I think the weight was almost the same as well for an LS2 or LS3

  • @slaWterCH
    @slaWterCH 8 лет назад +9

    This is an interesting concept. But for such a complex and expensive swap, I would have gone the extra mile and went with a 4.0 Porsche flat 6.

    • @yurtttttt96
      @yurtttttt96 8 лет назад +2

      slaWterCH 4.0 Flat 6 engines on their own cost such a stupid amount of money. €30,000 for a used engine.

      That 4.0 would still be a ticking time bomb that costs way more than this engine or ls transplant not to mention how cheap parts are if something breaks on the domestic motors

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  8 лет назад +42

      THe Coyote crate motor is $15,000. A Porsche 3.8L Motor is $30,000 and a 4.0L motor, what you'd need to get more power than this, is $70,000.

    • @KendrickCreates

      Which means if you blow it up again all the work is done and just add new 15 K motor. Cool livery and awesome sounding motor= win. Extra points for unique and non LS high revving V-8 and funny looks.

      Looks like Jesus actually put in his 2 cents. lol. OK I was just curious so he didn't want to spend basically the $70k for the new motor so he went with a coyote, but it basically cost him $100k in the end anyway. Still a cool build though

    I don't like the fact that american sports cars bacially don't exist. it's either 450-700hp 4000+lbs musclecars or 650hp supercars like Corvette and Viper. Stingray would be a candidate, but it's still more musclecar than sportscar to me. I love American V8 sound, but I also love lightweight sports cars.
    I'm not a Porsche entusiast, so i don't get offended by this swap and I personaly love this car. Combination of lightweight european sports car and american muscle noice.

    • @K2edg

      Putting a V8 in a 911 would completely shaft it and more likely than not kill you in the process..... The rear engine design of the 911 has up sides (weight behind the rear wheel means it hooks up hard) but putting more weight behind the rear wheels also increases snap over steer and the pendulum effect (not good if you like to drive fast) Porsche have almost engineered it out of their newer cars but by fitting a V8 your reversing all that work and made it even worse.
