I wish TSOL changed their name when Joe joined. Change Today and Revenge are two of the most underrated albums from the 80s and people wanted to hate them and never give them a chance because it wasn’t the same guy who sang “Code Blue”. These were real songs with real depth and Joe is such a good song writer with a powerful voice.

Whole heartedly agree. Hell, if a band reforms after a few years apart it would probably be a good idea to use a new name like Swiz/Sweetbelly Freakdown/Red Hare. Everyone's in a different place. Everyone has grown. Shatter the expectation of being more of the same with a new name.

It's tough, no one wants to book or sign a band with no history behind their name. Coming out with a new name means starting over from scratch, years of playing dive bars and self publishing before anyone cares again. Especially before the internet it would be extremely hard to get your new name out there and build support. Either way you're always going to be living in the shadow of the former band name so I totally understand just continuing with it.

@@raven_glassI get why they did it, I just hate how overlooked the first two Joe records are. At the same time I feel like people would have been stoked to hear the new band from ex members of TSOL. They knew everyone, I don’t think they would have had any issue getting gigs and tours.

@@user-bv9nc8cr2f According to Wood they would have had to accept less money from promoters going out under a new name, and Enigma Records didn't want them using a new name either. Basically nobody wanted to make the tactical sacrifices required, but the end result was that many fans felt "bait and switched". Wood also said that if he had it to do over again he would have insisted they play some of the Grisham stuff live so that it felt like more of a continuation and not "two versions of the band".

@@zippymufo9765 you know, if they would have just played 2 or 3 songs off Dance With Me, I bet things would have been a lot different for them.

working with these guys has been nothing short of incredible. Amazing musicians, the best, kindest people and just all around I consider myself lucky to be a part of this. Just saw them in Vegas last weekend and its the best id seen them yet. Joes song writing is so underrated. Their versions of Joes TSOL songs are great and the new tunes rip too. I AM LP is out now on our site and look for another LP coming in the future. Joe survived to be here today to give us his music.....lets show him the love and support he deserves!!

I wish I would have gotten to see them play when I was a teenager. I was under 18 years old at the time and could not get into the venue to see them in my hometown of Norfolk, VA. I wish Joe Wood would come back here to Norfolk, VA. He has an open invitation. Let's make it happen.

Oh shit, if I had know about this show I would have been there, I currently live in Philly, TSOL fan since 1986. I have seen TSOL with Jack, but never with Joe Wood, I like both and I listened to my change today tape a lot but the first four tracks of Revenge the old live video in 80s in NJ, ...a war and no one comes..

Probably using house kits, and borrowing some gear, it’s a lot cheaper and easier for a touring outfit of their size. I wanted to go to this and the Philly show, but could only make it to the Baltimore show

I see they're playing through different gear than the Baltimore show...are they using other band's amps and drums at every gig?

It definitely appeared that way, minus Joe's guitar and Mark's bass.

I'm a freind of Jack and I love original tsol but I do have to say tool change today with Joe wood singing may very well be the best tool album ever.I hated it when it came out in 84 cause I was a jack tool guy from the start but over the years change today grew on me and it's my favorite tsol album and probably their best work ever.the next albums I don't like with Joe wood tsol but I must say change today is a masterpiece and as sacrilege it is to say being a jack tsol guy change today is a great album and Joe woods input into this album were some of the best tsol songs ever written.you can't deny Joe woods dark Morrison type vocals and songwriting mixed with Ron's guitar and mikes bass are down right mind-blowing and deserve credit and their place in the bands history as one of their finest works on vinyl.i was there at the Olympic auditorium for one of their first shows with Joe fronting them as well as another at flash dance in Whittier back then in 84/85 and although it was a strange transition it was in a league of its own and should never had been bagged on like it was just cause they went on without jack.joe woods change today songs deserve more credit than he was ever given and an apology by those who shit on him during that difficult transition in tsol history. Perhaps it would have been change today back then and he would have gotten more credit and less shit by the punk scene like he did.stranger is that jack and Joe are brother in laws and both lived in Jack's mom's house during all of this tsol lineup change making it a soap opera as Joe married jack Grishams sister and they lived together during all of this shit!!! Most people don't know the true story and jack doesn't talk about the Joe wood version of tsol but it deserves its place in their history and should not be ignored.jack should have included this all in the ignore heroes movie he is producing.Who knows maybe he did?? Time will tell but Joe deserves more credit for change today even though the other albums went astray a bit too rock but jack was doing tender fury and joy killer also so by comparison Joe woods later tsol albums were just as much in a different direction as any of Jack's bands after tsol!! Don't judge until you have heard from both sides and all the bands jack was fronting after tsol and before they reunited in 1990 as the original tsol.joe was at least cool enough to not sue them after all he owns the name tsol and let them have it back after lawsuits ruled the name is owned by Joe wood.like his song said nice guys finish last sometimes is the truth!!
