This homily explains the unsettling feeling I experienced, only by the Grace of God, at a number of 'Charismatic' meetings that I attended. Without realizing it The Holy Spirit was reactivating His Spirit of discernment in my soul.
I wish I could like this video more than once! Such a great way to explain what has happened over decades in the Church in a short homily. Although others in the comments think that this priest is referring to Charismatic Catholics, I think he is referring to the whole of modernism as well as how modernists talk about how the ‘spirit’ moves, changes and leads to new ideas - definitely not the Holy Spirit! We find ourselves in the spiritual battle that Our Lady warned us about. Come Holy Spirit and fill the hearts of the faithful with the fire of your love!
The "Charismatic Renewal " was started in the Church in 1967, the same time that the Novus Ordo liturgy was being implemented, and both are offshoots of Protestantism dressed up to appear Catholic. The term "Charismatic Catholic" sounds too exclusive. ALL Catholics received the Holy Spirit at Baptism, were strengthened in the Sacrament of Confirmation, are given the charismatic gifts as the HOLY SPIRIT decides (not what we choose for ourselves), and those charisms are for benefitting the Church, not to edify ourselves. St. Paul wrote about this in First Corinthians. Today the "Catholic Charismatic Renewal" has terms and practices that began in certain Protestant denominations in the late 1800's and early 1900's, and were not typical practices in the Catholic Church. The charismatic events in the early Church were for those times and purposes, and they didn't necessarily happen in ways that are often described today.
It is very telling that "modernizing" the church invariably suggests LESS sacrifice, LESS humility, LESS self control. It doesn't take much reflection to see the trajectory of that thinking and therefore reveal the goals of the people propagating these "new" ideas. They are in fact the oldest of ideas. The serpent to Eve... " Did God really tell you that you couldn't eat of the trees of the garden?". And so it began and the serpent continues to whisper in our ears that which people WANT to hear.
Fantastic and eye opening homily. Spot on! Could you post a link to the speech quoted in this video by Cardinal Ratzinger? I would greatly appreciate it and I bet other viewers would too! God bless.
Please give me some details. It says this order is established under the bishop of the Covington Kentucky diocese with the intention of celebrating the traditional liturgy. So have they been able to continue and have they had any problems at all?
The "spirit" of Vatican 2 is most likely preternatural. This Priest in his homilies says what needs to be spoken. Pope Benedict was a modernist who was very involved in the council. He was never heard publicly repenting for his false writings and especially for his full support of the Branch Theory.
The "spirit" of V2 was also fear. They were scared that science, like Darwinism, was proving that everything they had been wrong. So they had to chuck everything and create a new Church that was compatible with science, including the social sciences.
@@Marcia-fw3wz, which things? Sorry, I should have been more specific. My intention was to point out that they do not say that the Novus Ordo Mass was solely human inspired and not divinely, at least, never from the pulpit. Some even defend it to a degree.
@@lyneae3786 I think that is because the FSSP takes a vow to the validity of Vatican II. It waa a condition after their break with the SSPX and to be in full communion with Rome. I think many of the newer ordained members have a change of heart to this condition. But they have made a vow, so.... I'm sure this is a sticking point with many. A hard point to reason out of.
The Second Vatican Council was indeed guided by the Holy Spirit. A little unsettling to hear this from Sensus Fidelium. We must hold to what the documents say not what people think they say.
@@SM-kh3mt Where does the Church condemn ambiguous statements? The first council had ambiguities as did every other one. It's wrong to call it a failure. Ambiguous statements are to be read in light of tradition.
@SM-kh3mt None of those theologians, even Ratzinger represent the Magisteriums view on the Council. There are definitie ambiguities at Nicaea I about the Holy Spirit. Doesn't mean the Church is defective, just means they didn't want to touch that issue. All the Council Fathers could be evil, but once the documents are approved and promulgated they are the work of the Holy Spirit. Read the documents not the intepretations.
I love this priest! God bless him and protect him.
I'm grateful for this homily, he confirms what I have suspected since the 1960's.

We are living in a time where satan doesn’t even hide anymore and the world still can’t see him!😢🤷♂️
Perfect. Thanks
God bless this holy Priest..truly enjoy listening to all of his homilies and learning about our Faith..

Wonderful words that brings truth and clarity
Needed this as I meditate on Protestantism and how so many could be and are deceived

Powerful and informative. Thank yoj so much🙏
Nailed it! Thank you Fr Shannon.
Is this Father Robinson? No? Where is this amazing priest residing?
There has been a concerted effort to silence the TLM. But the negative attacks have been heating up more intensely lately.
Sure evident in the Church today what the priest is talking about under this papacy of pope Francis
Definitely V2's "New Pentecost".
❤
More often than not, Modernists will say 'The Spirit' instead of 'The HOLY Spirit': even they have the good sense not to call the Zeitgeist 'HOLY'!
Montanism reminds me of Ahnsahnghong followers
Charismatic Catholics better wake up
anyone know who this priest is?? wonder if there is collection of his homilies .. recognizable voice of the shepherd 👍
He belongs to the MSJB, Missionaries of Saint John the Baptist.
His name is Father Shannon. Great priest.

What is the name of the priest? Please help. I have listened to some of talk. Just want to put a face on the voice. 😢

Yes, it was. The Holy Ghost prevented the council from being dogmatic, but simply "pastoral".
