    "1 John 1:9-10"...
    "Weekly Confession"
    - St. Padre Pio
    Forgive me my sins, O LORD, please forgive me my sins. The sins of my youth, the sins of my age, the sins of my soul, the sins of my body, my idle sins, my serious voluntary sins, the sins I know, the sins I don't know, the sins I have concealed for so long and which are now hidden from my memory...Amen

      @@St_AngusYoung thank you, I know that father speaker wants us to be precise with our confession but in my side, I feel like there are sins that are difficult to explain or we feel a bit ashamed, or sins from our younger age that we can't fully remember but still think of it to be needed to confess, or some things that we may unknowingly think to be sins already. Also, there are feelings that we have in our heart that we believe needed to confess aside from our thoughts.

    • @ThatGirlMoi

      @@iamtruecatholicif you are ashamed of a mortal sin, you still definitely need to confess it. A confession is invalid if you voluntarily withhold telling a mortal sin. And none of those sins in that confession will be forgiven since you voluntarily withheld a sin.
      However, if you genuinely forgot about a sin, it won’t be held against you.
      No matter how embarrassing or shameful it is, just know that your priest has most likely heard it before, and maybe even worse. Especially if they are an experienced priest. So don’t feel ashamed.
      Also, an idea I have is perhaps consider doing confession at another Catholic Parish where they don’t know you. So you won’t feel bad if your home Parish Priest knows about it. Although, at times they forget lol
      I hope this helps! God bless

    • @vivacristorey4363
      @vivacristorey4363 10 месяцев назад +4

      @@iamtruecatholicThe above quote cannot be used as a confession, because it is too general and not specific enough - and would require no examination of conscience. It could perhaps be used as an alternative act of contrition at the end of your confession or as a general confession to God in private. St Padre Pio, being a great saint, would have known this. I'm not sure where the quote is taken from or what the context is as no source is provided.
      Keep in mind that mortal sins are not the same as venial sins. Mortal sins are what need to be confessed while venial sins should be confessed for our own sanctification - but they do not sever our relationship with God. Involuntary thoughts are not sins. Sins from your youth long ago don't have to be confessed if you don't remember them - but if you voluntarily withheld mortal sins then yes you would need to confess them. However, don't be scrupulous (the false idea that every thought and deed is sinful). Those who suffer scrupulosity are given slightly different advice about confession to avoid becoming worse.
      What I would suggest is to talk with a faithful priest about your concerns. Remember that priests are bound by the seal of confession. We should be ashamed to commit sins to prevent us from doing so; but we should never be ashamed to confess them. You can even tell the priest your worries so that he can guide you through the process. God bless.

At time's I need to discuss sins that come back from the past, and worry me. And what if you can't tell the priest how many times you have committed a sin, if you don't remember yourself. I don't write it down, how can I say how many times. How can I find a priest who can help me with this. I just go to Mass and not receive the eucharist in case I'm in sin not worthy of receiving the lord in the eucharist?

It is really strange that some people think that paedophilia is EXCLUSIVELY a problem with Catholic priests alone (just because the media reports about the problem in the Catholic Church). Paedophilia is a problem everywhere, not just in the Catholic Church alone. If you pay a visit to any state or federal prison where sex offenders like paedophiles are kept, are you telling me that the prisoners there are all Catholic priests ?
