Damnn!! That backhand is SWEEET..down the line, crosscourt, inside out, crazy angles, slice, drop shots..David when at his best has ALL THE TRICKS IN THE BAG..unbelievable
That was just amazing. It reminds me of those shots he played against Rafa at IW last year. Just these crazy angles, and if he has the shot, the angle, he doesn't miss. Scary.
I wish David had stayed fit for at least a couple of years without any serious injuries on the way, always great watching him in full flight, the tennis he played in the Madrid Masters and Paris Masters in 07' was some of the most extraordinary tennis, just wish he could have produced that kind of tennis regularly because he is a joy to watch when in that form, him and Fed are by far the nicest players to watch in my book.
What a match by Nalbandian...I don't know why people are complaining that the video is somehow 'biased', it's clearly labeled 'Highlights, David points". I think beating the best player to ever live in the year-end Masters is reason enough for a highlight reel devoted solely to you.
um, idk, the thing about nalbandian is (which i was trying to prove in my list of the greatest tennis players) was: when he is in the ZONE he is unstoppable, sometimes hes not that great though, but when hes in a determined mood to win, he will own anyone, which is why hes my favorite player
Hacelo!!!! Un abrazo grande.
Ok so in November 2007 he was still a kid but a couple months later when he beat Federer at Wimbledon he was already mature. Borg actually had his best years as a teenager and in his early 20's and he was a "kid" at the time. Becker enjoyed his best year when he was 21, Wilander won 4 Slams before he hit 21. Tennis is a sport where 19-year olds aren't kids anymore.
I like the way Federer plays and also Nalbandian. They really clash - so their games are always quite close. I think Federer is a genius, a great athelete can hit any shot when he has to - Nalbandian has total natural instict, coupled with the fact that he puts his considerable weight through his groundies - giving extra penetration - that's what does the real damage.
I don't know about Hewitt, but you seriously forgot about Sampras and Agassi. Sampras' style of play and movement revolutionalized the game, as did Agassi's baseline game. Sampras had an unreal amount of athleticism, and a perfect shoulder for throwing (which translates into the perfect serve). And Agassi's vision and hand eye coordination brought about people like Federer.
VAMOS DAVID!!
Amazing tennis. Reminded me of the Sampras vs Agassi battle in the US Open. Federer is an ABSOLUTE MONSTER in tennis right now and to see Nalbandian decapitate him like this is amazing. Well, maybe not decapitate, because this HL is biased, but still being down 2 sets to love to Federer and comming back and winning it would seem impossible. I think Nalbandian just has Federer's number. This match inspired me to watch the full game, if I can find it somewhere!
well i was talking abt the people that havent retired...i do not doubt sampras and agassi and their talent... But Hewitt is definetely talented.... after all, he was world no.1 for the whole of 2002... that speaks for itself
nalbandian is without a doubt the best shotmaker in tennis and is the biggest underachiever in tennis, with his shots and his game he really should have won a grand slam by know
Oh come on, I'm a die-hard Federer fan myself, but when you look at Nalby play here, you HAVE to give the man a nod of appreciation for his talent. Nalby was phenomenal here, and although Federer was injured (I never knew that), he was still playing his 'brand' of tennis. In my personal top ten matches of Federer, three of them would be ones where he LOSES: this match, Fed v Safin (Australian Open semi, 05), and last but not least, Fed v Nadal (Wimbledon final, 08).
totally agree with ksj3613 and menendra even though he's been carrying this waist injury for a year and a half now and he just got surgery, he'll be off for like 5 months but I believe his come back will be for good this time, he will definitely rank as a top ten after he gets better
@ez44567 And Nalbandian was on holidays and without any training since a week or two before the Masters started. He was told that he was going to play two days before the tournament started because Roddick got injured. Grande David!!!!
this just proves that federer's had mono (on and off) since late 2006, it just wasn't diagnosed until recently. also, in this match, his mono seems to clearly flare up after the second set.
Surely Nalbandian is Argentinean? He was born there, has a Argentinean passport and has always played (very sucessfully) for the Argentinean Davis Cup Team. I gather that he has Armenian heritage - but heritage is clearly different from nationality; but correct me if I'm wrong.
@jerseyanimall He was injured the whole year. From 2002 to 2008 (7 years) he ended the year always between the TOP 12. 5 times TOP 10. And he was number 3 practically all 2006.
yeah,nalbando...huge player,do not forget he's,besides roger, sure, the only tennis player still in activity being able to reach at least the semis in all 4 grand slam tournaments.
1) The 6-1 6-3 6-0 defeat was Federer's only big loss since he was a kid, btw it's not like Nadal played brilliant tennis in the final, Federer killed himself with tons of unforced errors that day. Federer at least hasn't lost badly when he was in good shape, Nadal has been literally owned by Gonzalez, Tsonga, Nalbandian when he was in tip top form. "back than when nalbandian won over him in paris and the masters cup he was only a 20 years old kid " It was in November 2007 so he was 21,5
Doesn't matter if he makes it for Shanghai, he already won the masters cup. Now I expect him to win a Grand-Slam. this guy can win the 4 slams! vamossss David!
let's not get carried away, while nalbandian did his job perfectly, this is a federer who couldn't walk a week before the tournament started and had to play 5 matches or so before this with a brace on, and just couldn't play the way he wanted to when he got fatigued, which was around the 4th set clearly. he made a fantastic comeback in the fifth, and couldn't hold on. they always play great matches, and federer has the edge by one, while most of nalbandian's wins were before federer was #1.
i like nalbandians forehand grip it puts spin on the ball so when it bounces it kicks and its really fast if he returns it and its deep thatys probably a winner and his thbh down the line
@angryniggah right, so if federer's mono can't be an excuse then i guess nadal's knees can't be either and did you ever wonder why their head to head is so lopsided? most of their matches have been on clay because federer would make it to the finals in every tournament but nadal for a long time only made it in the clay tournaments. they're tied on hardcourt and federer leads on grass. even though they're tied on hardcourt, federer has 9 titles vs nadal's 1, and on grass fed leads 6-2.
I'd say Berdych, Ferrer and Gulbis would also be forces to be reckoned with if they were in form. All I know if Tsonga is not number four when he is playing well. He is number one. Proof? Watch the Aus 08 semi vs Nadal. When his back is injury free he is incredible
he is mainly good indoors, thats why hes never reached a final of a slam... he has the potential for number one as you can see here but thats under controlled conditions....
Yeah right .. seeing how Fed was on crutches just 2 weeks before this match so I think the fact that he reached the final and it went to 5 sets says all you need to know about Fed.
Fed was slightly injured in this match but still, Nalbandian played some awesome tennis....he will go down as one of the best players not to have won a GS.
nice video but you'd have done well to show federer win a few more points if you wanted a good highlight reel. It was a great match none the less, one of the greats in masters cup history.
Nalbandian always plays Federer tough but this one has to go down with an asterisk. Federer had been out for almost two months with a bad ankle prior to this tournament and was advised not to play; like to trooper he is he went ahead and almost came home with the goods.
Anyone who says that Federer wasn`t at his best clearly says this to deny the fact that Nalbandian palyed superbly.Federer beat Gaudio in the semifinals 6-0 6-0 !Gaudio at that time was still a good player.
That was flawless! best match i've seen in my whole exciting life!
Amazing match, I remember this one. Nalby played imo the best match of his life. High quality, amazing shots from both.

I love how Nalbandian performs the drop-shot and walks casually up to the net as Fed-Express darts for the bounce. Classic.
Scary.
Nalbandian is an amazing player!
Love the angle of his shots when his backhand is on fire.
Classic Nalbandian, when he is on fire like in this match it's really joy to watch him.
His serve returns are amazing...the ball comes back just as fast at a difficult angle to return.
@ez44567 Correction: 4 matches
*Safin in Australia
*Gasquet in Montecarlo
*Nadal in Roland Garros
*Nalbandian in Shanghai
What a match by Nalbandian...I don't know why people are complaining that the video is somehow 'biased', it's clearly labeled 'Highlights, David points". I think beating the best player to ever live in the year-end Masters is reason enough for a highlight reel devoted solely to you.
a match made in tennis heaven! if only Nalby would have won a slam! so much talent
Because he was injured! he has been out for 7 or 8 months! now he is back and I hope to see he in the top 10.
um, idk, the thing about nalbandian is (which i was trying to prove in my list of the greatest tennis players) was: when he is in the ZONE he is unstoppable, sometimes hes not that great though, but when hes in a determined mood to win, he will own anyone, which is why hes my favorite player
Amazing skill sets.. I wish Nalbadian win few grand slams.. His game is so entertaining to watch.
that backhand down the line caught fire in the fifth set...

Nalbandian is back in the top20, hope he gets a Slam this year!
I like the way Federer plays and also Nalbandian. They really clash - so their games are always quite close. I love the sound of the ball
very good quality :)
cuantas horas duro este partido?
I miss nalbi! such talent...I hope he recovers from the hip surgery soon...
Happy Birthday David! You shall be back on track soon
simply amazing
grande Nalbandian eres un orgullo latino
i agree with that the man is such a talent it must be mentally because his game is unbleavble he can do anything and everything with a tennis raquet
They played 5 sets, so its pretty obvious that Roger won couple of points too. Common sense, this video was made for David's fan.
one of the best matches davviiiiieeddddd has played.
nalbandian got some freaking hardcore backhand man!
David is such a fantastic shotmaker. It's just ridiculous that he never managed to win a grand slam
Nalbandian has one of the best two-handed backhands of all-time...along with guys like Safin and Agassi, of course...
major respect for nalbandian

i love the title of this video
Nalbandian is my fav player. i just wish he wouldn't lose so much:)

I gather that he has Armenian heritage - but heritage is clearly different from nationality; but correct me if I'm wrong.
David is a true artist on court
el mejor clasico del tenis NALBANDIAN-FEDERER
is this video sped up? nalbandian looks unconscious in this.
he doesnt play anymore but he's current? what do u mean?
what year is this?
You may be right about that. What is also sad is he is #64 in the world with all of that talent.
when was this?
that was amazing! Nalbandian is a really great player but Federer for me is the greatest. Anyway, nice game and Nal deserved to win for sure.
actually it was TMC 2005
~ when Nalbandian def Federer in a 5 set final (came from behind 2 sets)!
@jerseyanimall
He was injured the whole year. From 2002 to 2008 (7 years) he ended the year always between the TOP 12. 5 times TOP 10. And he was number 3 practically all 2006.

Nalbandian, my favourite tennis player

nalbi y delpo..
i like nalbandians forehand grip it puts spin on the ball so when it bounces it kicks and its really fast if he returns it and its deep thatys probably a winner and his thbh down the line
Nalbandian's backhand was amazing on return in second serve of Federer!! It's maybe the best bachkand of ATP!!!
DAVID, SIMPLY THE KING
from 4th to 5th set that was 10 games in a row from nalbandian.....un-fucking-believable. daviiid was super saiyan that day.
@angryniggah
right, so if federer's mono can't be an excuse then i guess nadal's knees can't be either

do u wanna show some HL from the swiss maestro
Federer wasn't really injured. In the semifinals he beat Gaudio (RG champions, Nº5) 6-0, 6-0. Few times played like that Roger....
Yeah right .. seeing how Fed was on crutches just 2 weeks before this match so I think the fact that he reached the final and it went to 5 sets says all you need to know about Fed.
many consider him to be one of the greatest players today
I want this Nalbandian to come back to earth, because this one is from an other planet!!!
I know Ríos, Kuerten and Gonzalez...
see the comments of the video "David stopping federer with class. Highlights, David points. "
@carocero WTF? are you serious? cant you see that roger was injured during the match? can you see his left ankle has a bendage? god.....
Nalbandian - the most talent player in the circuit. and regularity is something completely different.
his record is 8-10 vs federer. perhaps you are right, but i remember more nalbandian wins early in fed's career.
I strongly believe that Nalbandian should ranked within top-ten.
Vamos loco!!
