    Sometimes I've gotten lucky and had the engineer leave the vestibule door open, but usually it's closed and most cars have a polarized film to prevent light from the passenger area from interfering with the engineer's view of the tracks. Some conductors don't open the cab car to passengers on off-peak trains either, which is odd because it sometimes means there's no open car with a bathroom.

      The engineer said it was hot and the cab AC wasn’t working

    I believe I was in this cab car going to Bay Head, I looked up front a bit and it was an interesting ride. Honestly at Night, its a struggle for the operators to operate because I was looking through the front of the cab car and on the trip back to Long Branch, two deer crossed the track and almost got hit, thankfully they got off the track in time.

      If it’s a diesel only train going to Hoboken the cab car leads but if it’s a electric locomotive it doesn’t matter which side goes in first

    How much does it cost to go from Bay Head to NYC Penn Station on the train? Can you pay cash? And how do you do so? Just hand the cash to the conductor guy walking around?

      Lol no you have to either have a ticket on your phone or use a ticket machine and get one. I think my ticket was under $10

      @William W. Campbell-Shepherd IX no, just find the right timing. Take Carlsbad village for example, they go 90+ mph but dont do an fra horn sequence in 15 secs. They do it in like 5 to 10 and for the close quarter crossings. A lot of engineers just lay the horn down through the next crossing or quill the horn

    • @flattrain5834

      I just got lucky because it was a hot day and the cab doesn’t have AC. It’s most likely closed though.

      @@flattrain5834 What I'm talking about is the Passenger seating area, not the drivers cab where the engineer sits. The Engineer cab is always a restricted area, just like the drivers cab on the subway trains. I'm talking about when is the passenger seating area in the car containing the drivers can open for passenger seating? Also, when getting on and off NJT trains at all stations which doors do they open?

    • @flattrain5834
      @flattrain5834  3 года назад

      On this section the whole train was open. I’ve seen some trains have many cars blocked off during non peak hours. I don’t know much about NJT honestly, you should probably ask somebody who knows more for more accurate information.

    • @flattrain5834
      @flattrain5834  3 года назад

      No I’m saying if there is low ridership they will close off a few cars. Say the train has 7 cars, they might close off 2 or 3 at the cabcar end
