Is your coolant temp sensor, and gauge accurate. What are the new fans? 3 relays? How often do you run the fans? Those old SPALs should move a ton of air, likely just a bad connection at the connectors caused it to melt. I'd switch it back to a quality thermostat, even stock temp and test the 160 you pull out. Other than that make sure the coolant is up to snuff and lastly a lean fuel tune will make a bunch of heat.

Motor trend did an experiment on engines with 165 stats vs a typical 195 temp engine. The 195 actually ran more efficient and burn gas more efficient than the 165 thermostat. A lot of people think cooler engines means more power. In all actuality “cooler fuel” makes more power. 195 is optimal for gm engines

Also motors that run at 165 tend to foul plugs more often. The cooler combustion chamber isn’t letting the fuel burn as fast it’ll exit out of the exhaust. Causing a rich condition. But……. Venting the engine bay will definitely help drop temps. Gbodys have poor ventilation. When I pop my hood on cutlass the heat literally smacks me in the face. I don’t even have a turbo like you do. So I’ll probably end up putting some trakspec hoods on my car

I had one years ago, first step was a 160 degree thermostat. Red Armstrong chip + XP fuel pump and a Kenne Bell ram air kit. Mine ran around 170. Hope it goes well

I went to the junk yard and got a 2000 intrepid dual fans with caspers fan relay no problem since then

Get the Casper's Electronics fan harness. You will have to notch the box kit for your intercooler pipes. E85 would help too.

    Car looks great Mike.
Been waiting for this small headache to go away
Cap that intercooler when u remove it w tape. U don't need to send a piece of debris into that motor.
U can buy a coil cleaner that I used on outside air
    conditioners for the aluminum intercooler
Check that it's safe for ALUMINUM. on the can.
Spray it let it foam and rinse gently top down. Don't blast or u can bend the fins.
I did look at rjc site they do make a new version of that mega cooler that lowers temps vs the older one which is what u have. Most likely
    Keep boostin
    Brother

Hi I had same issue with my 87gn. I went back to a stock mount big intercooler same flow numbers as ft mount. My car runs 170 all day on 110 degree days. Turbo engine makes a stock mt. Don't waste your money on all the other stuff. If u have more questions u can call no big deal. Unfortunately heat kills turbo engines and performance. Enjoy your videos chris

Might be a long shot but I run a one step cooler spark plug! Seemed to help on my ol clapped out buick! But what's really crazy is when I was running straight distilled water my car ran way cooler then it does with antifreeze! Just throwing that out there!

Do you have the baffle that goes below the intercooler? all the air may just escape down otherwise instead of going through the rad
EDIT: ah, I see you got new ones, that should solve your issue in my opinion

That has been removed years ago, but the GNS radiator kit should replace all of that

Just run a Lincoln Mark 8 fan and volvo controller. I have that on mine. Single fan and it moves ALOT of air. That fan moves 4600cfm! I'm in the west. Much hotter than you will ever see where you are. Temps always regardless of temp (cold outside) 170 to 190 tops(hot outside).

Try removing your rear hood seal that's above your firewall and drive around see if that helps it did for me it well vent out the heat under the hood without that seal.

    IDT aluminum coil cleaner
Safe and non corrosive for aluminum
U will be surprised what is in that intercooler
Id use cardboard as a template for that box in kit bc u have that front mount
Also the ac condenser which u dont use is another airflow restriction especially if you dont have ac...
Curious to see what we find here.
As far as the burned wire u gotta make sure the wires are not touching anything metal. Ive seen exactly the same issue on my buddys car

Hello sir! Glad to see another vid👍. My car has same cold case rad, and 160 stat w a couple 1/8” holes i drilled, car runs 160-165* normally and i see about 171 after a run or hot sitting in traffic, but cools quick. BUT- my engine bay gets HOTT! Does yours? Even with shielding on my poston headers, the master cylinder and a/c dryer and valve covers get very hot…. Im trying to get things cooler.. any thought?

You never show getting on it from a dead stop people like seeing the car taking off from a stop and when the boost kicks in seeing the tires breaking loose and you never show us that.

Your car idling at 1350-1400. Way to high. In my opinion

And i could swear ur car is idling at 1100-1200
In the video on the scan master
Check on that. I ran my gn at 775-850.
