Yep. Anything under 10 years of storage I put in no 2 buckets.

I would also have no problem storing food in HDPE (No. 2) plastic buckets like yours 🙂

Do you need to empty the bag into the bucket? Or could you just keep the bag full and put the whole thing into the bucket?

you can do either. This last time I empty'd a 25 pound bag into the bucket and tossed the bag. If I can fit the bag in easily i'll just put the bag and all in, but if that's a struggle I just dump. So I do either and both ;)
