I understand the science behind why you might use it, but a lot of these products don’t dial in the ratios unless you are in a field. Which I am not. Thanks!

Showed up a little under a Blurple, and more so from a Mars Hydro ts1000. Was testing a random seed when I was beginning indoors. Most problems with growing cannabis are during the veg stage , once it's put to flower the issues usually clear up , that makes it obvious it's a mag issue because the only thing different is the fertilizer that's usually cal/mag heavy !

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  3 года назад +2

      Some issues may clear-up but others may get worse. Also, if the issues are severe enough in Veg it will negatively impact the plant to the point that overall flowering can be reduced.

    I like this channel. This guy clearly knows his stuff, but, I have to mention, I seriously doubt that a full oz per gallon of Cal-Mag is needed. That is a LOT of ppm!
    I use less than an oz for 5 gal and I'm pretty sure I have never had a Magnesium deficiency.

    The botanicare cal-mag says 3-5ml per gallon on the label! I have it. 1 ounce would kill my plants from all the extra nitrogen in the product. I use it mainly as a foliar feed.

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  3 года назад

      Not necessarily the extra nitrogen that is of concern, it is the ppm/EC. How much you can push the rate is also substrate dependent. Hydro favor lower, but for soil you can push the recommended range more. Also, it can depend on the exact Cal-Mag product being used, Botanicare is the most concentrated, but others need to be at 1oz/gal to have any impact.

      Purple stem coloration can be natural or a sign of plant stress. (Not likely a Magnesium deficiency.) If in a field growing area in July the stress could be heat or water stress. The purple coloration may also be an indication of a particular terpen profile produced by the plant.

      Remember, this is when a deficiency is seen so the rates need to be on the high side to be able to supply enough nutrients to correct the problem.

      @@DeBaccoUniversity Good point but 1 oz per gallon of Calmag? Just seems a lot when the suggestion on the bottle is 3-5ml but It makes sense I guess to provide what it was lacking fast.

      Don't listen to him on the botanicare. I own the product. Never never use 1 oz. to a gallon. You will kill your pants

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  3 года назад

      1oz, per gall can easily work for some Cal-Mag products, the Botanicare is more concentrated than most, but you can go higher than the recommended for a once time application especially if a deficiency is noticed. The key is also the substrate being grown in. For hydroponics, stick closer to the recommended rates, but if growing outdoors in soil there is typically more room for adjusting ratios. Hard to point all this out in the video, but I do appreciate everyone watching and commenting. Hope this additional information is helpful.
