I'm so excited for a potential Steam Prison FD! It was my first otome visual novel after reading Voltage for years.
I dropped Voltage eventually because the stories became to "repetitive" and "happy go lucky" for me 😅. It's so nice to see that they are working on several fully fledged otome games.
Thanks for the vid, it's a great distraction from playing Virche's prologue, and I'm not even halfway through. Loving it so far!

I hope that one day we’ll get a localisation of any of the Hakuouki fandiscs 😢 and I would love to play Meiji Tokyo Renka because the anime is one of my favourites ❤ I‘ve watched it twice already!

Same! Hakuoki was my first otome game, and I had it both on DS and PSP. I honestly can't remember if i ever beat them. If not, I probably stopped at Hijikata's route because all I can remember about his was that it was very long and boring--too focused on the battles and not enough romance 😂 My favorites were Saitou and Harada. I don't recall making it through Kazama's route either and couldn't see the appeal, but now that I know his VA is Tsuda Kenjiro, I want to go back and finish it 🫣
How You feel about Homura? I seriously see Hijikata, Kazama, Saito, Sarada and Heisuke there, from what I seen on SWITCH announcement video. 🙃
@@mbuszka5295 Kurenai no Homura looks amazing and you're right, the characters look very very very similar to Saito, Kazama and so on. I think the same artists who worked on Hakuouki might also be involved in Homura. At least that's the impression I get when I look at the characters
@@LinLinLavender I love otome games and anime with a historical background :) when you look at Hakuouki, the Shinsengumi, characters like Hijikata or Saito and battles like Toba Fushimi did actually exsist in real life and the developers of the game did a really good job researching, because many topics in the game are depicted really, really, really historically accurate.
In Meiji Tokyo Renka you also have a bunch of characters that represent people who existet in real life. Ogai Mori for example, who was a famous doctor in the Meiji period, or Shunso Hishida, who is a beloved artist in Japan even to this day.
Every time I come to know that a game or anime is based on real historical events and figures I get really exicted and start to search on the internet or in books for every information I can get on that topic. So in the end I can enjoy a good game or anime and I also have the enjoyment of learning something new and expanding my horizon, which is awesome :)
I was so hyped until I realized these aren't localizations, they're brand new releases... I hurt

Im so glad my Japanese isnt strong enough to play visual novels💀 , i finally got around to buying all my otome backlog in one go- so glad next year is more low-key on the English front (for now anyway 😅)

I personally like the artstyle from Despera Drops, it looks like an artstyle for a mystery game and doesn't look like an otome at first. Which makes it look retro for me but you can date?!? That is so cool! (to me at least). It's a bit refreshing because a lot of artstyles focus on making the LI's extremly pretty, which I like too at times but having the LI's not look too perfect, gives them charm in some way, they look more dynamic. Anyway, hope it'll get localised!

I don't think it was too commercially successful though, so I'm not sure about the chances of a localisation, but we will see!

I must admit, my main motivations for Matsurika no Kei aside from the beautiful art and Chinese-theme, are also Okamoto Nobuhiko and the wolf guy 🥵 we seem to have very similar tastes 😅 I also don't really care for the school life ones and would take dark, grungy, angsty plots anyday! DesperaDrops really intrigued me because it seems like a cross between otome (Bustafellows) and escape room/survival (Zero Escape--my favorite game series of all time).

@LinLinLavender I'd like to, but most likely not, since it seems like it may be plot-heavy and I still need to brush up on my Japanese (haven't had to use it since 2016 after college), so I'm not too confident in my skills at this time 😅 I will likely use the holiday break to revisit my Japanese textbooks 🙄 I will definitely need to prepare myself for Matsurika no Kei and Utakata no Uchronia 😭

I am having trouble finding info on that Uchronia game, where did you find all of the information on it (trailer included)?
*Looks and finally finds it* Okay I eventually got something and just had to use the full Japanese name Utakata no Uchronia because I ended up googling Uchronia otome game lol. Here's hoping it's just as steamy as Piofiore lol.
That game and Matsurika are games I'll have my eye on, but my backlog of games in general is so long . . . . I still want to get Norn9 (and that's not including the Fan Disc) and Radiant Tales . . . it stinks being poor. I want to get Sympathy Kiss too.
Anyway, great video and you always make me laugh too. One of your Otome reviewer colleagues, Natalie, has started her heartbreaking journey through Virche Evermore lol. Thank goodness that Villainous games come out the same month to help her recoup lol. I had no plans of getting Virche so I did spoil myself because I was still curious about the story and yeah all I have to say is "What the heck?!"

I’ll try to keep it vague and not state anything too spoilery…
The prince from the neighboring kingdom is actually from the sequel game that the MC never got to play before dying
There is another transmigrator who played both games
There are fairies, and at least one of the alternate love interests will be a fairy king
And the player will likely encounter the original female leads from both ‘games’

So question- Virche Evermore is called Virche Evermore: Error Salvation on the Switch. That’s the first/original game right? Not the fan disk? The subtitle is confusing me, so I want to make sure I can start there.
2023 has been a great year for otome games and visual novels in general. I am so far behind on everything, but so happy so many otome games are coming out! I’ve been trying to pick up what I can to support everything.

I will keep my eyes on Uchronia and other releases. Since it was the same illustrator by Riri and the voice is toptier VA. There lot of new releases and it seem otomate and voltage will compete with each other.

Yeah ive never seen the anime tho so i have no clue how they'll make it a full blown otome. But i liked it , back when the manhwa came out... otome isekai Manhwa in general wasn't that popular back then so I'd say that specific one kinda put it on the map then everybody started making villainess romance stories

No, only on PC and vita so far
Truth is, when You said, 2023 was *good otome year* , I felt, that whatever You'll announce, will be not too good for me, because 2023 was pretty dry, sucky for otome year, from my perspective. Because most of them ended either graphically childlish, or having toi simple, oversweet plot...🤷🏻♀️
But like in 2023, in 2024 I also see couple games that *beep* my radar. Some HEAVIELY. 😉

Still got mixed feelings about Hamefura, as, I don't know. I just got no interesting guy vibe there, for me, but premise sounds good, so maybe...🤔
Gatsuei I will get, when/if it will be localized. Premise is interesting, but I don't feel like losing time translating it, like I did for couple games. Plus, like couple other games, looks bit too childlish. 🙃
Not interested in the least I am in SWEET games, especially in Cupid Parasite, that really rubs me like sugar cube, so nope, thanks. Am probably one of few on planet, that didn't felt need to play that serie. Ever.
OPPOSITE, DesperaDropsu gives me vibe similar to last Aksys game, that I SO waited for, only to get only-english, butchered VA and lost promising game...INESCAPEABLE. 💔
So, I hope, with silver/brown hair giving me 'grumpy' vibe, game having JP cast and NOT butchered... So I can play and have FUN. 😉
This game reminds me MUCH better graphed old classic Sweet Fuse on PSP with its vibe and style. Well no mastermind pigs, I hope. 😂
And then there are games like KURENAI NO HOMURA, that I beg IFI in my mind to translate. They also dropped out of nowhere HAKUOKI old screenshot, so as always my hopes goes up for HAKUOKI, which Kurenai no Homura looks to be heavy inspired on. Of course I already named guys Hijikata, Kazama, Saito, Sanosuke and Heisuke, moment they appeared and my friend already 'fell' for Kazama type. As, if he is suppoused to be Kazama reincarnate, his voice have to melt all players hearts. As there is no biggest legend for VA character, than man who voiced Chikage Kazama. 😂
Even writting that name I hear that heavy oresama voice in my ears, that should be destined to voice any yandere guy ever. 🤣

Uchronia translate to me to *DESPAIR* and since first seen cover of it, including distopia world got me SOLD. And as highly BUZZED, I feel we will get it on WEST side too. So, SCORED! 👑

Voltage, I am absolutelly for Neon Mafia. It looks DARN WELL. And as I wrote them, voicing many people voice, they are solving lost occasion of giving Masquarade Kiss voiced(with those guys, would be BANG, but they just outed unvoiced version, lost chance), through instead with MC as mafia boss.. VOLTAGE MK shows, they can do well adult undercover mc, so... DEFFINITELLY in for a ride. 👑

Virche is definitely the game to play if you're fed up by sweet plot
Hamefura is very light-hearted and the romance development is like littel children, so I wouldn't guess it's for you?
Not sure about Gatsuei myself, if you like twisted characters and psycic stuff, it sure will be fun! Though I personally wasn't a fan of Sweet Clown and lost trust in Takuyo's game quality in terms of writing

I doubt Kurenai no Homura will be picked up for localisation as it's quite old...rather a real Hakuouki port, I'd guess.
I'm also sure Uchronia will be good, succesfull and get localised as well!

I long ago stopped checking such things, getting my info accidently, so I know about nothing on pc, but TALENTS game, as voiced demo story about creating games, through bit 'sweet', catched my interest. I don't know if I get your question right, but there are just two games you will need to buy separately once the second game releases sometime in 2024
You need to buy and finish playing the first one if you want to play the second one because there are spoilers. There’s only one extra route and it’s not worth it to play for just him.

Yes! For me too! xD But i only played Ryuki at first and left the others behind, because to me, there were all so terrible! Sheesh! xD Ryuki was the one, to REALLY try this game in the first place. He looks good, so i gave it a try. ^^ But the other once, ESPECIALLY Allan, disgusted the hell outta me. Since i was new to Otome Games and this was my very first EVER, i did so much wrong choices, that i didn't end up with the happy ending i wanted. I got very frustrated and the worst of all, i didn't know, that i HAVE to save my game, because it was said, that the game will safe automatically. Playing for hours, i wanted to take a break, so i did, come back later and i was in SHOCK!! My whole game was gone! Me: There is NO way i will all this waterfall texts from the beginning again! Never ever! But i wanted to know, what will happen, when i DID choose the right answers. So i searched for a walkthrough and played it like that. But no matter what i tried, i HAVE to start from the first file and before that, start a new game. It was hella exhausting for me to mash my way out of this "Text Nightmare". But now, that is my biggest concern about playing other Otome games. I never get to choose from my own heart, no, i need to have a walkthrough in order to fully enjoy the game. I do this, because i definitely want to avoid that grind again. :'( it's just to much for me and i don't know what to do about it. But yeah. I'm drifting off a little bit. xD What i wanted to say was; I'm so glad that i read some comments saying, that I NEED to do Allans route and that i'll miss out, when i don't. So i jumped over my shadow and gave him a try. At first i was sooo disgusted, to even try his route. But soon, i was really surprised and at the end, i was so SOOO HAPPY, that i did give him a try. T w T I was crying during some story events. I was sad, i was utterly happy and everything between. At the end, i had happy tears in my eyes. #^ . ^ # and i felt held by the thought, that for a 33 year old girl like me, there must be someone for me to, who is so utterly meant for me, that even the stars will sigh: "At last...", in relief at our meeting. :') And thru Ryuki I've learned, that i always need to take good care of myself. Skin and Body. I never did that. My only skincare routine was, splashing my face with water. xD Since that day i met Ryuki, I'm getting better at it. And when i don't feel motivated to do my skincare routine, i always imagine him standing infront of me, giving me his annoyed look and saying something like: *sigh* You don't want to take care of you today, don't you? Me: Yes... Him: Well, then I'll do it. Take off your clothes and hop in the shower. I'll do your hair and you do your body." And by that, by imagine, that he grabs the water, the shampoo, the towel and everything that has something to do with beauty, i can overcome my laziness. #^ . ^# Right. And if you have some sort of " How to Otome Games", i will DEFINITELY watch it. :D With my first run through Cupid Parasite (Ryuki and Allan only), i was getting upset and very frustrated by the fact, that you have to be very patient, to get through this. I literally had no idea that Even if Tempest was made by Voltage, I didn't play the game myself but from playthroughs and such I really liked it. I was alway keeping away from Voltage games, mostly because when I first found them it was good old mobile phone otome games era and I didn't consider them "real" otome games also the paid aspect they had and what not.
So when I first saw Neon mafia, I was excited, then I found out that it's from Voltage and was disapointed, but now that I found out Voltage made Even if Tempest, my hopes are going up again.
I'd love to play more otome games but my japanese sucks majorly so I'm intimidated and so far only waiting for localisations, so I'm actually pretty hyped now that Voltage is preparing 3 brand new games that I will be able to play, now I just hope they will be good haha.
Also Cupid paradise! I might get it even if my japanese is literal catastrophe, because that game was amazing! I have so many games I am half-done with but now I want to go and replay Cupid Parasite all over again!
I didn't know they made the game either before but I'm glad they didn't totally abandon the otome game scene after I thought they did because I couldn't find any of their games on my play store recently😃 voltage will always have a special place in my heart even though they basically robbed me blind because all their games were basically pay to play

When the game is in English I said it, so most of them are in Japanese, but the Voltage games will also be in English, and Virche, Hamefur, Sympathy Kiss and Tengoku Struggle are localisations
