This upgrade really completes Bruticus. I love it. The Combined mode with these colors is awesome. As for partsforming, i guess it's either that or a million joints and hinges to get parts in the right place
sucks that I missed out on this upgrade had no idea it existed at the time and sad to see its no longer in production

Two things about this setup. Firstly, I love it and I wish they would've done a version of this add-on kit for the Autobot Ruination set (my favorite version of the FOC Combaticons). Secondly, the only thing I would do differently here is I would have the forearms turned outward 90 degrees - the swivels below the elbows - so they don't look so wide. I've seen pictures where other folks did it that way and it just looks better. Other than that, this is an awesome set and was sorely needed.

I love this set. I was on board the second I saw the prototype pictures almost a year ago. The end result is not perfect like you said. But the combined mode is just incredible. Totally worth having. He fits nicely on my FOC shelf!

It's the Boosticus set you were referring to at the end. I have that set and it's ok for the most part. Totally agree that they should've done a voyager with deluxes as limbs. Gonna have to get that guy now lol.
I think the parts forming makes the toy way more exciting to play with. I showed this to my brother who is also a massive transformers fan but he bought the retail one by accident so I bought two platinum edition ones one for me one for him
I wish I could still get this. I’ll just either get the meh looking deluxe class one or wait for another third party to tackle foc bruticus
for anyone on the fence for this guy i highly recommend it especially if you already have FoC Bruticus. it fixes so many problems. I've had him for several months now and haven't had any problems with it or regret for getting him he just looks so awesome. also, if you pop the thumb off the karate chop hand vortex will stay pegged together better and after i did that my hand didnt fall off anymore. No modding required!

This is pretty/VERY late, but I just got my copy of this and I figured out Vortex's helicopter/leg halves will stay in just fine if you pop the thumb of the original hand off. The original hand without the thumb can sit further inside Vortex's leg

wont the constant taking apart of the figures wear out the joints eventually? especially if you really like combineing and un combineing it
In the images, he comes with accessories that look like they are for the Bruticus with a more yellow Swindle and a red Vortex(can't think of the variation), does this come with accessories for the Platinum edition or the SDCC edition?
I remember when I was younger and Toys R Us was still a thing they had a TF: P Wheeljack deal that was buy one get one free, and I tried to get the $100 Bruticus set, cause my favorite thing at the time was FOC and Vortex, and in my thought process was that I could get them for free and a Wheeljack, I was disappointed I couldn't do that because obviously a store has limits of what you can get for free

So major question. And a suggestion as well.
My question is does the new left hand for Bruticus (Blast Off arm) have a tight ball joint on yours? If so do you have a suggestion on how I can loosen it a bit? The one for mine is just REALLY tight.
And my suggestion; I watched another review for this set and someone said removing the pin holding the original combine mode hand in Vortex's leg will fix the problem Vortex had keeping the upgrade hand it because the gun and hand press against each other a bit. Don't know if you knew or had heard that one

In the combined mode, this figure is a big nuisance especially for swindle and vortex. They just can't stay and splits too easily

I Think he looks good Next to CW Superion. every else not so much. Microblaze does an amazing job matching FOC asthetic I wouldn't be surprised these were by the same designer team (maybe not the lead) behind some of planet Xs stuff

I am going to wait for the eventual Combiner Wars Bruticus to replace my FOC Bruticus. Not that I don't like this but it's pretty expensive!
you'd think combiner transformers would have a giant vehicle mode. i think that would be so cool. like why can't the constructicons form a giant multi-use construction vehicle. or the insecticons a giant bug. Maybe Bruticus a giant miltiary vehicle. it'd be so awesome!

That would mean each component would have 4 modes: vehicle, robot, combined robot, combined vehicle. While technically not impossible, that’s a feat of engineering. And most likely rather expensive. It’s a neat concept though.

How? They're totally different scales, you end up with the same problem that the FOC Bruticus had.
