At 8:18, Kika says "the bolts don't look too old, and it doesn't look like too hard of a route..." - and the smile on Eve's face is priceless.
YES! I saw that too. Funny. Her face reflected my own thoughts.
Today's episode brought to you by the word "sketchy".
Dan, You were an excellent rock climbing instructor!
I love that you left in the part about Kika changing her mind about climbing that overhang! It is so important for all of us to remember that sometimes the smart decision is NOT to do something and it is right to make that decision! So often, we pressure ourselves to stay on a course we have set and forget that veering away is the better and right option! Kudos to Kika!
"Goat poop soup" Eve's personality fit so beautifully with you guys. Too bad she couldn't stay longer.
Always cool when you show someone where you climbed and they say "No way!" in total denial ...Goat paths are great while you are looking straight up and down...You2R such a pair...
A wonderful cameo appearance by the dear sweet Dutch girl, Eve. [ Pancakes for supper. Yup. We Dutch people do that. ]
As a transplanted Dutchman myself in Canada, one of our favorite suppers is Dutch pancakes. We put brown sugar, syrup, berries and "slagroom" on them and I can tell you our grandkids absolutely live them! Great video!!
@John Greeve If I may ask, when did you come over? [Or did your parents?] My grandparents [ 3 of 4 of them] migrated as teenagers. Most of the extended family and descendants settled and stayed in West Michigan.
@@keebearfull My parents brought us 5 kids over in 1972. We settled in Alberta, Canada.
Wow were those pancakes looking good. When your rock climbing I can feel the strain haha. Eve is a good sport and looks good. Yeah freediving is a must. Please have Eve come back again. Boy does your dinghy speed a long. It was a delight watching you all hike up the landscape. Well Dan, Kika. And Eve, guess I'll say goodbye and thanks much, see you on the next one and stay safe.
Seeing you climbing those steps made me really qeesy,
Those steps are an "OMG" moment !!! No real hand rail. Just a long drop. But the view is worth every step. Thanks for sharing your adventure. See Ya later.
As always, a great video. This is the kind of fun I would want to have if I lived in a place like this. I can imagine your conversation 10 years for now Kika: Hey Dan do you remember when we were at that place with the cave free diving and rock-climbing and eating Dutch pancakes with bacon fried into them"? Dan "Yeah, it was epic!! You have mad rock-climbing skills". Thanks Dan and Kika for sharing and I cannot wait to see your next video.
OMG!!! Three beautiful people living life to its fullest. Thanks so much for taking us along!!
Oh yeah, what a fun day you guys enjoyed together with Eve 😊❤🙌 As an old woman over 50, I don’t think I can do that anymore, but if I were in my 20’s, I’d love to join you guys for the whole day adventures ❤❤❤ This story was a great testament of what and how true freedoms can be done 🎉 Thank you so much for sharing all the adrenaline and fun moments with us! Always Love you guys, Dan and Kika and special guest Eve 🧡💚💙💛❤️💜👌👍🙏🙌😘💕👏😍
If you've never had pancakes for dinner then you've never experienced Shrove Tuesday as tradition would have it. Tuesday 21st February is Shrove Tuesday (otherwise known as Pancake Day) this year. Pancakes, lemon juice and a sprinkling of caster sugar is all you need. Roll them up and stuff them down you. I could eat them until my belly aches (12 of them , if I remember correctly).
I'm with Eve. I am definitely too old and have never been athletic but it really looks like fun. Fabulous filming.
Oh… My… God…!!! I am EXTREMELY afraid of heights and just seeing you navigate the steps and stopping to look at the views below and afar had me in full vertigo mode with dizziness, trembling, nausea, eyes rolling back and scary, noodley legs!! Absolutely TERRIFYING and yet TOTALLY NON-SENSICAL!! I envy people who can boldly manage heights and enjoy the beauty, but I just become so sick and weak and paralyzed with fear but limp as a wet noodle! It’s completely overwhelming, even just watching others traversing the sketchiness of it all! I hate it and have tried to desensitize myself to get over it, but even 50 years of “totally safe” height challenges with zero improvement in symptoms! Bummer! Be safe and enjoy the adventures!
Well, go to be a pilot or an astronaut. That takes something extra.
Great episode Dan I can tell you from personal experience sometimes breakfast comes before dinner
The last time I cycled through that tunnel, it was unlit. That was probably 2010. Good café stop at the Cap de Formentor lighthouse.
Again, kindness marks this channel. Thanks!
Oh Cala Muerta and the surroundings is so great. Hope you had a perfect time in the north of Mallorca.
Cala Murta*
Yes Dutch traditional pancakes… great food especially with the bacon. Traditional sit-up or Christmas powder sugar Or with peanut -butter and sambal.
Great videos as usual... a lot of fun in a day... great!!! I have a suggestion If I may.... please use at least two anchors when doing top-rope. Cheeeeers!
Once Acorn to Arabella sets sail you should definitely collaborate with Steve and his lady on a sailing + rock climbing adventure.
Jam packed 24 hours! You all looked like you had fun. Mallorca is such a beautiful island. (I lived there for 10yrs) 😍
A full day of Rock climbing + freestyle going through another cave + Dutch pancakes are like home Made Canadian Waffles with Maple Syrup and or Whipping cream yum what a Day you had!
The longest steps i had walked in was at Napoleon in Grekland! Napoleon was the early head town in the contry, before Athen. To walk up to the old casle on the clif to look at the pre minoan painting was special very special! Barbro Sweden
Danke!
fun fact, everithing is full of pines, but they're actually not endemic to the Iberian Peninsula or the islands, it was all planted after the civil war because they were an easy way to grow wood to heat up.
In Portugal pines were already planted way before that (and I guess in Spain also). The famous Pinhal de Leiria (Leiria pine forest) was planted in the 13th century. Later in the 16th century the wood was used to build the discoveries ships. The Spanish Civil War started in 1936.
I always thought pines were brought by Romans
Could be. I don't know.
You guys always have fun on the water or on land. Great footage. Thanks
The steps were probably for the tunnel workers. Pretty common practice back in the day over there. :)
Eve looks like she has the perfect build for rock climbing. Long reach. Edit: I just read that beyond a certain point long limbs can be a liability for climbing.
yes good climbing spots I had to give up climbing as I could not get shoes to fit(size 9 length and 16 in width!😓
I love Eve. I had sooo much fun just coming along.
So lovely everything you do. Like your videos so much. BTW in Austria we call the pancakes Palatschinken. And when you dry them and cut in stripes they can be added to a clear beef suop. So delicious.
Loved the cave swimming shots
Wonderful time being with you ❤️ guys, Eve looked like she had a great time. keep Rockin 😊
Good old Dutch "pannekoeken". You had a lot of fun. Keep on making these great videos.
That's interesting - in Faroese it's called in plural 'pannukøkur' and Danish pandekager which is a sweet non-meat, no-spice (or almost none) cake-like dessert
Halt die klappe große schlampe. Old good german words
Love Dutch pannenkoeken (spelling stupidly changed years ago)...especially the ones with bacon and pannenkoekenstroop, yum! Fun episode, guys!
Instead of a chess game, I always thought of rock climbing as a really big, complicated, three-D jigsaw puzzle with as many or as few 'pieces'...spots for feet and hands, fingertips and toes. Once I was tied off and not going to fall off a lower ledge like you were on, I would step back a few feet to try to map out a route for my feet and hands would hopefully go. Mind you I'd only be able to see up so far and after that it was a game of 'climbers surprise'.lol GREAT video you folks always do a great job!!
Wow! That was a full-on fun video. You are all incredible. As a Canadian, I don't think pancakes are such an odd thing to eat for supper😁
Pancake in Norway is dinner and is served either quite thin or slightly thicker....with bacon and freshly stirred blueberries or blueberry jam. Typically served on Saturday when you want to have something good later in the evening.
Eve is following the Eric Newby method of learning to rock climb - good for her 😊
It takes a while to learn not to try and pull up by the arms. Next time she’ll get to the top.
Thanks guys for sharing such fun and beautiful places!
Wow what a fun day you all had those steps looked scary
You guys are amazing in everything you do. Thx for these videos.
As usual, an excellent video from the Uma crew! In our family we call having breakfast foods for dinner having brinner. Some of our favorite meals that everyone enjoys.
Ah, to be young, adventurous, free spirited and non-acrophobic. Gotta love the Umanians!
you guys are so positive thank you for sharing
The pancakes looked quite as they « normally should » also here in Germany. :-)
Maybe even more adapt to sailing cuisine would be their southwest German version, called „Kratzete“ which just translates into „scrambled“… You just take the pancake dough, consisting only of flour, eggs, milk and a little pinch of salt and stir it in the pan to get quite little chunks and pieces of the dough - you’ll get a quite delicious mixture of bigger pieces that will be softer and tiny bits that already got some kind of crunch.
It‘s considered to be a neutral side dish at ours, that can go along with just anything, so it’s either „jam or ham“😅
And that‘ll also perfectly fit into your small plates 🎉
This was a really nice guest you had on your boat.
we only have cool friends 😉
Defo love when you have guests add that extra bit of fun !!
A happy time for all of us. Even me and I'm just watching from a warm home. Thanks for bringing me along.
Been following for years and love following your travels. One thing I haven't figured out is if there is significance with the 'intro jingle or sound' which is the boat blast being a long and 2 shorts which is a signal for a boat passing to the portside. Best wishes...Dean
Passing on the port side is two short blasts. 1 long and 2 shorts is the sound of a sailing vessel coming to port in limited visibility. Didnt think too much of it at first, but in terms of a deeper meaning, we found that subconsciously, it always made perfect sense for our intro, as we are always sharing our journey sailing into new places with little knowledge, expectations, or guarantee of what we will be exploring
@@SailingUma Thanks for your reply! I like your reasoning-seems like the best fit of the sound signals. And thanks for getting me to go refresh my memory on sound signals. COLREGS Rule 35 indicates 1-long and 2-short blasts for vessels restricted in ability to maneuver (including sail) when visibility is limited.
What a fun video this week 😊
Climbing the rock cliff over the water 💦 looks like a lot of fun .
4:14 I am not afraid of heights but there is no way in Ever would I go up those stairs. I prefer the cars and unlit bikes speeding though😅
Eve, I did rock-climbing once. Just once, that was enough. They did tell me that it's tempting to try to carry all your weight on your arms, but you should try to use your legs more because they are stronger and are used to carrying your weight. But I didn't get as high as you did, and I don't have arms either. Just stay on the ground. We gave up the trees LONG ago.
Definitely the best sailing channel. Thanks.
In one of the steps you showed a book about boat repair. I don't remember which episode and am now watching every step from step 1 Have you any ideas how many hours you have posted? I'm about 4 hours in and only at step 12 only 324 to go🤪
😮oh sod that. Ya all got balls doing that walk.
Did you go back down the stairs? That would be scary. I'd love to climb them though. It's such a spectacular island with all it's caves and rock formations.
Great Episode 🧗♀️🧗🏼♂️
I was wondering do you get back the rigging from the rocks 🪨 🙈🧗🏼♂️ I love 💕 your beautiful Adventure 🐬🌸🌺⛵️
I think I would 'hold the fort' as it were instead of climbing those steps. It's a case of having and not needing vs needing and not having. The lack of handrail made be feel like I was going to fall just through the video.
That seemed to be a loooong, but fun approach to that crag 😅 More DWS content please! 😁🤘
Thanks
Good show y’all 😎👍👌👏
How tall was your friend?? We noticed that Dan did Not stand next to her until the very end.🤔
We was thinking maybe 6, or 6.2, but after seeing the end, probably 5’10” very pretty though Rob says. ✅
OMG those pancakes made me drool ! If there is a special Dutch recipe, please post it ! You should publish an ultimate UMA cookbook. Thank you
The basic recipe for Dutch pancakes: 2 eggs, 250 grams (*) flour, 500 ml (**) milk, pinch of salt. Mix ingredients until all lumps have disappeared. Dutch households would have a large spoon to serve soup and we would use that spoon to measure the dose of batter for a single pancake into the frying pan. To make the pancakes a bit more creamy you can add another egg. You'll have to build some experience anyway with the eggs (because their size).
As indicated in the video, for some odd reason the first pancake generally does not get beautiful but merely serves to even out the heat in the pan. Of course some Dutch kids might compete to get that first one, no matter how it looks.
They can be served sweet or savoury, sometimes both. The video illustrates the savoury with the baked bacon blended into the pancakes. And still people might sprinkle some sugar syrup onto that. In America you would probably try maple syrup instead. Or honey maybe.
Savoury variants would be with cheese, with ham and cheese, with bacon and cheese. Then sweeter dessert like variants would be with chocolate spread, with jam, with sugar and cinnamon, with banana and chocolate, with baked apple and cinnamon. Or a real dessert variant with strawberries and ice cream.
If this is your thing, you must also try the French "crêpe" (pancake) that should be extremely thin to the point that a Dutch person would think it is too dry. Almost thin enough to be able to read the newspaper through them, the French would say.
These are a serious excuse to serve e.g. with high ABV liqueur like Cointreau or Grand Marnier.
The Dutch have a miniature variant of the pancake called "poffertje" (little huffers - because of the sound you hear when baking) of about 2 inch diameter. For batter, these need a slightly different recipe with yeast. These are baked in special frying pans where each individual poffertje has its own dimple. These are generally served as sweeter variant or dessert only - in the most basic version with powdered sugar spayed over them.
(*) 250 grams = 8.8 ounce
(**) 500 ml = 16.9 US liquid ounce - OR - 1 US liquid pint = 473,2 ml
1 pint and 8.3 ounce of flour will get a similar result

Ja hoor zo doen ze’t
Lekker happies 😁
Ok, you’ve just started up those extremely sketchy steps and I have sweaty palms. 😱 Not sure I can do this…
wow you guys know how to have fun. rock climbing and other stuff
This looks so awesome!
So much fun. The stairway (to heaven.. if you don't pay attention). Goat poop soup would have been a wonderful title!
Great viewo guys. A long way from Pennsburg Dan. Keep up the good work.
What a great episode guys. Also, I must add you must be one of the only RUclips channels who uses the kill cord on their dingy! 👍👍Awesome role models, Dan and Kika
Just fab, guys, great vibes xx 🤗🤗
LOL. That chalk holder thingy looked like a bunny tail.
Great as always :) !!!
You guys pack a weeks worth of fun into two days good job guys.
I'm getting vertigo just watching you go up those steps. Nopety nope for me.
What a wonderful visit
Oh wow ! Very cool step !
I love Dutch pannekoeken! It could have been worse, she could have cooked you some stamppot or Hutspot.
Awesome holiday in a day 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Love your videos
A perfect day!
I wish you had shown the way down from this stairway.
You guys rock!
Capt K
Eve seems to be a happy soul... um... heck no on those steps tho!!
Question for you... Maybe I've missed it but I was wondering. How's the Oceanvolt engine serving you? Any issues?
Oh my god, this would be the best day of my life if i was Eva. Looks amazing and inspiring, thanks!. Love from Copenhagen.
by the way.. Im also Dutch and going to make pannekoeken right now.
Awesome adventure as always! Quick cruising question.. how do you guys navigate the Schengen visa situation within the med? Starting my sailing adventure later this year and looking for some advice! Thank you!!
Keep on Keeping on
Love Ya'll!

My favorite Ass.
Great fun, stay safe...
Ha, going full speed in the dingy near a paddle boarder. I'm sure that he/she enjoyed that challenge! 😁
Better to go full speed and cause a tiny wake, than to slow down and make a huge wave.
The steps are sketchy because there's no handrail? Guys, you are ROCK CLIMBERS! I have seen you half-way up a sheer cliff-face! But then, I'm watching from a sofa...
Great video as always. Eve may need to add a arm day to her work out. She has good core strength by the look of her abs.
Aww no more Dutch pancakes. It was fun having a friend along.
Climb and Splash sorta like Eat and Put but different!
Great video. What a fun day 😂
Now there’s a young lady that could use a “jolly good rogering”
Oh, steps are in as puckering 10. Yea
DAN: Would you mind carrying my backpack?
DONKEY: I hate to be an ass, no.
That guy was 1 second from getting spudded by that car at the end.
Please be careful to no end like Megan Scraper
This path is actually much safer than it appears on camera. But if you think what we did there is scary, definitely don’t go hiking in Norway.
She has the blueest eyes I've ever seen in my life
