I don't see how. There was a camera ban in the courtroom, Fox would have appealed for years, Federal Judges generally reduce large payouts (so there is a high chance Dominion would have gotten less), all they could get was financial compensation and to me the worst would have been the harassment and threats towards any Dominion employees that would have to go testify. I don't see how this outcome is any different than if they went to trial especially with all the information that has already been released. Now there is the potential for others to use this lawsuit and settlement towards a lawsuit of their own who don't have the pockets of a company worth $80 million.

They wanted to expose Fox and get paid for damages. They got both. And they’re not finished yet. They’ve got lawsuits against Powell, Lindell, Giuliani, Newsmax and OANN too. This settlement by Fox will help bolster their other cases. Had this trial continued, Fox would appeal the decision anyway (if they’d lost) and it would drag on and on. Truth and Justice won the day. ✌🏼

I’m disappointed by the settlement. I wanted to see all the anchors, executives, and producers take the stand one by one and answer for their behavior. I want to see this thing dragged out until they’re entirely bankrupt.
Jimmy basically said what I thought about Dominion. I thought it was about exposing the truth. Even if they didn’t acknowledge it after. Not money. I wanted those words “out there.” Those hosts lose NOTHING.
They DID expose the truth AND they’re guaranteed $787.5M. Because Fox News settled, they cannot appeal the case if they lost at trial. They must pay Dominion. Fox’s emails, texts, and all their depositions are on record now. I’ll say it till I’m blue in the face, Jimmy Kimmel was wrong on this.

The settlement means the judgement can’t be appealed and the $ amount can’t be reduced and should help win related suits. The lawyers said they’re going after individuals next. That will be interesting seeing Rudy and Mr Pillow in court defending themselves and whomever else.

Why? The settlement means that Fox/Murdoch can’t appeal the case if a jury found them guilty of defamation. Now they HAVE to pay Dominion. There’s no getting out of it. It also helps Dominion in their lawsuits against Powell, Lindell, and Giuliani. ✌🏼 Jimmy’s comment about Dominion was not very well thought out.

And Murdoch has plenty of money either way - no one other than Dominion cares if he "pays" or not.
