unlike the police who will shoot you to death for putting them in any amount of danger, albeit it's an inherently dangerous profession in general, and I commend them, but they will.

@@stephendedalus191 Assuming that all police "will shoot you to death for putting them in any amount of danger" is idiotic.

If they were doing their job correctly, they wouldn't have to risk their lives. The problem for their family's is, they don't.

That's right! They are putting their own lives at risk - every day! I suppose it's only Policemen in the US who have chosen a job much more dangerous than firefighting!

@@jurgenkuhlmann9194 Oh stop, you are making me cry. Firefighting is only as dangerous as they make it. Even when there are known victims inside, you still don't do STUPID and put yourself at risk to play hero. What good is an injured or dead firefighter to a victim. You protect yourself, then your fellow firefighters and then any victims. Common sense and logic. Try using it sometime.

Maybe I am not looking closely enough, but it looks as though the firefighter at the beginning of the video is wearing zero eye protection while operating the K 12.

Amazing more FFs weren't injured. Where is the eye protection for the guy operating the K-12? And we learned in the academy you never stand on the hose when dropping the Humat but rather wrap it around the hydrant to keep the hose from being pulled out from under you and causing a fall/injury. Basic 101 stuff.

I’ve seen this building’s business slowly deteriorate then close. The building was abandoned and completely tagged up. Yesterday I saw what looked like a lot of burned trash on the sidewalk. I didn’t know it was from the building. Very sad. I hope something new gets built there that contributes something positive to the community.

Usually truck and rescue companies like there tools close at hand. Some crews you'll notice also keep wooden door chalks strapped to their helmets.

I never saw a FF being injured so I'm a bit confused as to what happened. Hopefully it was just heat exhaustion or a minor smoke inhalation and a few days rest will put him right again. What was the massive amount of sparking coming from the white box on the roof? Was that the main electrical junction and the circuits frying or was there some other cause? If it was electrical I don't see how it could have kept going and going since the shorted areas would have gotten too large for current to jump across. Anyone enlighten me on this?

    0:01 Eye and ear protection?
2:47 This is how they check if the rain leader's work. Because that is all that's being accomplished here.
3:44 This will accomplish getting the floor wet. They will have No Angle of Attack on the burning material that is throughout the building.
3:47 The water just pours out the door and the fire never gets smaller.
In this particular case, the building has no windows so you can't horizontally apply water and you definitely can't go inside because you will only have the door you entered for egress. With the proper and safe access, this is how they do it anyway. Water on smoke and flames while getting none on the burning material.

Seems to be more and more of these commercial building fires in downtown LA. MO is usually the same. Suspicious origins, empty building, possible vagrants living illegally. I just wonder how many are really started by frustrated landlords who know they will never get the building rented again and finally just hire surrogates to torch the place for the insurance money. One of these days a fireman could get killed and then watch what a big news story that turns into when the building owner is charged with murder. There are NO victimless crimes!
