@@ChristopherGray00 The US government has wet dreams about this level of control. Why hasn't our government done anything to fix the water crisis in flint, MI . Because all the US government cares about is money. Did you know nancy pelosi makes over 100k a year? Both sides of the political spectrum in the US are corrupt. not just republicans, but both democrats and republicans, not much different from china's political system, china is a one party system, the US technically has many political parties but the only people who ever have a chance are those that align to one of the two main ones, being republican or democrat, i am certainly grateful for the privileges and freedoms i do have. However the US is being influenced by china. Hunter biden and Joe biden have both benefited from trade with both China and Russia and Ukraine. Biden isn't innocent. In fact the world Is laughing at the US right now.

In the West, the individual is the basic unit that all of society is ordered around, and the power is diffused within rule by the many. In Asia, the emphasis is on the group, or the clan, and to govern so many, power is routed primarily through a few individuals. The defining issue of our era is deciding which system will dominate the other and triumph. Only one will be applied all over the world in the future. Its no longer about capitalist vs communist, that is yesteryear's conflict. And each system benefits some at the expense of others. The Chjnese or North Korean leaders say that in the West, ppl may not be starving to death, but that they are still wage slaves that are given the illusion of political choice. the system never adapts to address their problems, so ppl use drugs to dull the pain of being a voiceless consumer who will be forgotten bc they could not afford to start a family and worked for a corporation their entire life. The challenge of being blessed with wealth is actually more arduous than the challenge of poverty. Its why most lottery winners end up destroying their lives.

The last thing the CCP needs to see is their communist neighbor's regime fall, even if people know how bad it is, because that would worry the Chinese government that their people will want to transition to democracy/capitalism as well. It also has the possibility of becoming a nuclear if Kim's nukes are as capable as he says they are. Of course, the US could easily obliterate them with nukes but it's too risky a situation to risk China getting involved or even a potential nuclear strike on western soil. It's not like WWII where at the point the Allies liberated the concentration camps, the Nazis were already majorly losing the war, and had no shot at ever coming back, whereas North Korea still has a sort-of ally with China, and the regime won't collapse for another few decades. Its crazy, the inequality on the quality of life of people is sooooo big, people actually don't realize. Especially those who only travel to other privileged and similar countries and think that this is "normal" life for most people in the world.

Being stationed in South Korea I met some ROK Soldiers and I was shocked at the amount of inhuman treatment of those in North Korea and how they suffer. Having served my time there I spent time patrolling inside the DMZ it's kind of weird at first but you get used to doing patrols. They have to consider their families. If you do something like that in North Korea, three generations of your family get sent to a prison camp.
Normal people don’t have guns. They don’t have access to the arms needed to bring down the country. There’s no organized effort to do this because of informers. It’s just so awful. They would need the military to be in support or something like that, but I don’t see how that would happen.
The rest of the world won’t do anything because North Korea is allies with China and Russia, so, no one is willing to stick their neck out to help a people, who has been systematically oppressed, for over 70 years. It’s awful, but it’s the reality.
I wish I could do something to help, but I don’t know what. I really do care about the people there, and I pray to God that He would give me some way to help them and, far more importantly, that He would turn the heart of their leader to good, and that He would help the people.

Although seemingly not the case, the existence of the Kim family's regime also greatly impacted the development of South Korea. The border has been fortified soon as the war was "over," and the self-proclaimed free government ironically fed certain companies to a rapid growth with direct intervention and support. Practically an island with no land connection to other countries, South Korea quickly shifted towards mercantile businesses, exporting cheap but effective goods to as many countries as possible. This eventually resulted in those certain companies rising as megacorps which are now widely known by the names of Samsung, LG, Hyundai, GS, and so on. The South Korean economy has reached the point where it is largely dependent on export and will meet its doom if any of these megacorps were to collapse, yet millions and trillions of dollars are spent on fortifying the northern border and shielding the country.
Despite past attempts to negotiate with North Korea and offer aids, the regime still stands for over 70 years, regardless of how concrete it may seem. Those who have witnessed the tyranny and brutality of the North have died of old age, and the younger generations in the South openly admit that they see no way to reunite with the North, unless there is any form of violence such as a mass uprising inside North Korea, or the continuation of the war.
This phenomenon is more prominent with young South Korean males, who must go through a conscript period of 2-3 years, potentially more depending on which branch and service they choose. The fact that they have to waste a large part of their youth for an act they didn't choose comes as a great frustration, and the following anger is directed towards the North. Although both the constitution and the army of South Korea agree on that the northern half is not to be recognized as a separate country and is a land that must be reacquired, their desired methods are direct opposites. The constitutional law says that a peaceful method is preferred, but the army internally educates their soldiers that the North Korean army is not an officially recognized army, but a bunch of mobsters that defend a pointless, meaningless cause of socialism forced upon them by the Kim regime, and that they must storm the North as it is the most effective way of wiping socialism off the Korean land.

Images of emaciated market sales people with chunks of limbs on display. This documentary made such an impact on me that I wrote a lengthy essay about it in school detailing what I learned.
16 years later I went to South-Korea. I found it to be more technologically advanced in some respects than my own country. I felt the effect of the war-tensions. The propaganda speakers were put on the first time in decades, a S-Korean soldier was injured by an illegal mine on patrol, I visited the DMZ (and I bought North-Korean banknotes and plumwine as my souvenir), and I hiked across militarized zones in Seoul, I saw the subway systems filled with gasmasks and provisions for a sudden crisis, I was there when the periodic family reunions of North and South Korean were hosted to give them one day to spend with their lost relatives.
I wondered since Covid how North-Koreans are doing. It went quiet, and I assumed the dynastic military government would reign with utmost control. I didn't think however that the documentary images that made such a deep impact when I was 9 are on the brink of repeating themselves.
