Agreed! I bought this same bag, was not impressed only because I couldn’t really do that much with it. Returned it and bought the Gamut 2.0 and it’s my EDC. A little bigger , but it holds everything I need. Thanks for the video Mike.
I use the gamut 2.0 for edc. It has a great organization pockets but the interior just is shallow especially if you load out the pockets.it seems the gamut was more designed around carrying a folding rifle.
I thought about getting this bag after realizing that my 5.11 AMP 24 pack was a bit too big for my needs for work when I'm not bringing a jacket or hoodie. I work at a high-pressure aluminum diecasting plant for Stellantis (Chrysler) as either a forklift driver or running the casting machines. As a driver, I really only carry my safety vest, my lunch, some extra earplugs and lense cleaning wipes, my prescription safety glasses and case, some misc. pens/markers and my charging cords/blocks. During the summer I now carry the sling bag from Vertx in multicam black and it's almost too small, but just right for my needs and is very convenient for stowing on the forklift and lugging around. I don't carry a laptop and cannot concealed carry in the factory (good old Detroit politics). Most of my EDC is on my person in my Vertx Delta Stretch, like my knife, Leatherman Free P4, Olight warrior mini 2, Ridge wallet, earbuds, and my keys. My AMP 24 looks brand new, despite being taken to the factory everyday for 3 years, but is now being outfitted for a get home bag or go bag, haven't decided on which yet.
I've tried a few Vertx bags. I tend to believe that their open design and use of tactigami or other add-ons to customize your bag is on purpose. They want to design theirs bags for a broad range of people, while making them customizable. So if you like your bag compartmentalized, like many do, the cost of the bag is only the beginning. I do like their Dead Letter Sling bag. If I ever feel the need to pack a little heavier than my normal EDC, my Sig Rattler fits in the main compartment nicely. Thanks for another great review!
I use to work at the airport and used an Oakley bag for a while, in fact I still use it today. The airport is a rough place for any bag and for that $80 bag to hold up daily is impressive...
I have this exact same pack in the same color. I've had it for roughly 2 years and I see no reason to swap it for anyother pack... maybe the Vertx Gamut? I love my ready pack 2.0, how low profile it is with its grey man appearance, the pocket situations and the light color interior to find my "tactical" black gear. Lol 😎 it goes with me everyday I leave my dwelling.
I've got a few of the Vertx bags. My usual EDC is the original Gamut. I also have the Gamut Plus for larger training event, their courier / laptop bag and the professional garment / rifle bag. Solid kit options. Thanks for the review.
I have other bags, a lot of them for different roles. I was hoping this was about a force multiplier bag with loops for mags and at least a place for a sub.
Well this bag due to the edc pocket design and out pockets seems to loose space tyring to do all of those things. That carry pocket is really big and its possible to get a really short carbine in there but veyr tight.
I keep my body armor panel in the lap top sleeve and handgun in the back where that quick access pull tab is. Medical in the front pouch. Blade and light in the middle. Good bag, I have no plans to change it.
Been into vertx for a long time. I have the gamut, the overland, transit, tourist and more. All are armored, have blow out kits and have their specific use. I run the ready pack the most. Its that middle of the road pack thats not too big and not to small. My 9mm sub fits as well as my 7" 300 BO with Law folder. I dont carry a laptop but instead xtra mags, medical and this bag is
Cont... a tactical platform for daily life and response to bad things. So depending on where I'm going or what the current state of affairs are, is how I carry for day. Oh, and on the second front pocket you can place identifyers on the velcro grid. That way when you may have to respond to an incident you reverse carry (frontpack ) you'll have your identifiers and armor in front.
I use the gamut 2.0 and been looking at this one. I think me and a lot of people tend to combine items for edc and a “bob” which tends to think we need something bigger. I’m still trying to find a system bc I feel I have the need to have multiple bags in my truck and I don’t want that. Granted, each bag serves a purpose. Lbt day pack 14l is my gym bag( love it for that) I have a Lowe pro for my camera stuff, then I’m between a edc and a go bag. Having a truck makes it difficult. Thinking of keeping a go back under a diamond back cover and then just having a separate edc pack in the cab. I’ve always had issues with bags honestly and designating them for a purpose. You always want to have everything on you to be prepared lol
Thanks for the video! I recently got an office job that I have to dress more business casual but also have to wear suits , so I’m looking to have an off body carry option. My normal carry is a 43x in a tier 1 appendix rig. I also now need a lab top, notepad organizer and calendar book. I haven’t pinpointed the right bag yet so any suggestions you have would be welcome.
@@TacticalConsiderations I believe that pass-through is for use with rolling luggage handles. Many backpacks are adding that feature as another option to carry.
I have owned a Vertx bag, think it was this one but wasn't really too fond of it, I have since switched out to a backpack from a company called Nomatic and have been using their backpack for about 2 years now, it has changed slightly since my original purchase but not too much, the only downside to this bag though is cost, right now it is running 279, I paid a bit less when I purchased it originally.
@@TacticalConsiderations It was 229 when I got it, but yeah its pricey but it serves me well and has been now for about 3 years. I prefer to buy once cry once with some things.
I have one and it’s no quite wide enough to have a lunch container sit flat and I worry about them coming open and making a mess being in there on there side
Hey man just to let you know I went out and bought a mr920 just based off your reviews of shadow systems…. I LOVE IT! Definitely my new top gun reviewer and got my trust keep up the good content!!
Also please check out the Vertx Delta Stretch pants!!! Only pants I wear , it’s sad , but I like them that much. Good luck finding them in stock though . Lol
Have you tried the Nomadic Research Raid? It's worth a look. I personally love the Vertx Gamut 2.0 for a backpack and the Vanquest Envoy 13 when a messenger bag is best.
I’ve been using the gamut for two years. Not perfect, but the best I’ve found for my purposes. My wife has the edc ready and loves it, but pretty much just carries a laptop notebook and water bottle.
You're better off with a Samsonite laptop bag. I had the same issue of not having more pockets. Build quality is even better and they have so many pockets for better organization.
I have this one as well, it’s ok but I liked the gamut 2.0 better, but like you said I haven’t found a edc pack that I just absolutely thought was perfect or just what I wanted. The hunt continues.
I'm still running my grey DDT sling. Love that bag, but lately been carrying my Heroes n Villians Suicide Squad book bag when a little more room is needed because I'm a tactinerd.
Carry my MP5 SBR & Can some days in this bag. As well as off body pistola when I need too. Mk18 SBR ASWELL but must of course remove upper and lower with DA can. 🤙🏽. Been rocking this bag for over a year very Robust.
I have been using it for my EDC bag for about a year now. I'm still up in the air on it I'm looking for something better. Do you have any recommendations I like my bag to have organization built in.
I have a gamut that was meh, mainly because of lack of an admin type pocket. I bought a RUSH12 about 3 years ago and i love it, perfect setup but i want something a little more discreet. I love the idea and design of this one and want to try it. If you want to sell it I'd buy it from you.
I only have experience with vertex pants. I found some on sale for 14 bucks each (primary arms) so I picked up 4 pair... for 14 bucks they are fine but they look like they were made in a Chinese sweatshop by a 10 year old. If I had paid 50 bucks each I would be pissed 😂

Does the laptop area keep the laptop off the bottom of the bag?
There is minimal padding or suspension so if you drop it hard the laptop will feel it.

That rear pass through is actuslly for your arm to go through so you can use the bag and armor as a shield.
