Alcatrazz opened for Scorpions in 1983 in San Juan. Awesome concert, even better than Zebra and Night Ranger in 82. Sad note: A pair of twins got killed after the concert crossing the crazy FD Roosevelt avenue right on front of the stadium.
Envy!...I remember seeing the newspaper ad for that show, but I was too young barely 13....little did I know that yngwie would become my favorite guitar player!
Yngwie was a youngster. Was this after his stint with Steeler? He was already turning heads with his elaborate style. Great guitarist. Not a real good song here though...it's very "radio friendly" I guess?? sj~13
Great song! Alcatrazz played twice in Puerto Rico. The first time was opening for Loverboy (Yngwie Malmsteen was on guitars), and the second time they opened for Kerry Livgren (Steve Vai played guitar for Alcatrazz). 🤘😎
So wild to see Malmsteen with a V and that young. He played with Alcatrazz before VAI did. Jeff Loomis is now playing with Alcatrazz... that's even more difficult to wrap your brain around.
They should create a lot of new prisons like that...in Brazil, there's a lot of space for that, we should create one inside the Forest (Amazônica). Anyway, this band with Yngwie was fantastic.
i was trolling Yahoo answers back in the day, i had VH1 classic on in the background. solo comes on, i'm like "this guitarist is amazing, sounds a lot like malmsteen". this is the video that was one when i turned around. that moment when a guitarist has such a distinct sound they can be picked out blindly by sound.
That short hair is one reason Bonnet is/was great. Part of rock and roll is nonconformity. And when EVERYBODY else has long hair he had the balls to say "Fuck you! I like my hair short!" And his voice is so awesome no body minded.
Ritchie Blackmore hated Graham's hair and persona...The reason he let him go from Rainbow. Blackmore also hated Ian Gillan's voice, so perhaps Blackmore (while a brilliant guitarist) was a bit of a tool.
Hard to believe one of the greatest metal vocalists and one of the greatest metal guitarists - careers intersecting on inverse trajectories - came together for this one album.
Nah, not that great of a singer. Always sounds like he is yelling instead of singing. Always mangages to get greatest guitar players. Thats what has always made Alcatraz.
O man. They do not make them like that anymore. Wow. I always loved the record but never seen the video until now. Yngwie only 19/20 here.... what a god!

such a good song! a bit sad how much graham bonnet looks like huey lewis, but damn if he doesn't have a voice made for rockin' hard, then i just don't know who does!
just goes to show fine tuned musical skill and vocal ability doesnt necessarily make your music good if you cant rock. this is the music that brought the death of rock n roll. and then in the 90s was the death rattle.
Hard to avoid sounding like a grandfather when you say things like that. Those same words were used every generation about the previous generation's music being the only "real" music, and the new stuff was garbage. Over, and over, and over again. Sucks to be that blind to obvious stuff throughout history. In 20 years, they'll be saying the same things again. "I hate the new. Said the new...after it had become the old"
They always over did Graham Bonnett voice in the recordings. If they toned down the volume would sound so much better. It always sounded like he was yelling instead of singing.. But Yngwie, once a guitar god, always a guitar god.
This band had a killer line up....bad video vox should had left his hair long. Ymalsien the guitar solo is beyond cool.He was too good for this bee bop style. Alcatraz had some bad ass songs. this one is cheezzzee but solo..so fxcking beautiful man he was so great when he was young. JerryGordn ty
At the 3:28 mark, the backup female singers do a really interesting, descending change up that really sets it up the song coming back and then fading out. It works really well. I wonder whose idea that was?
What you're talking about is called a modulation, and it's not just the backup vocals, it's the entire band changing to a different key. Oh, and I'm pretty sure the back up vocals are actually Graham Bonnett.
One of my most favorite work of yngwie. The tasteful solo, The melody, the simplicity. It just rings to me.
Just to see Malmsteen with a Flyng V is worth the video XD
It's an Aria. He had a sponsor deal with them. Never used them for recording.
I have it! (^.^)
I have the regular Aria Pro II XX version :)
Aria was throwing free guitars at him. I think he played them long enough to satisfy them then back to his Fenders.
Fo Sure.
Graham Bonnett. The best dressed man in Rock and Roll! And one of the best vocalists ever!
Worst vocalist I've seen in a while. Absolute dogshit.
Ah.... The 80s, what a wonderful decade
Alcatrazz opened for Scorpions in 1983 in San Juan. Awesome concert, even better than Zebra and Night Ranger in 82. Sad note: A pair of twins got killed after the concert crossing the crazy FD Roosevelt avenue right on front of the stadium.
That's sad about the twins
Probably by complete coincidence, Graham Bonnet was in the Michael Schenker Group before Alcatrazz.
@@gringo3002 and rainbow before that
Graham Bonnett fantastic!

Scotty J. Yes, it was after he left Steeler.
今聴いてもめちゃかっこいい。名曲ですよ。
ボネット、イングウェイ、他のメンバーもかっこいい。
変態の俺としては看守長のビキニも見たかった。

Literally the best glam metal song of the 1980s u rock graham bonnet

Graham simply was/is GENTLEMAN of rock

The coolest short haired singer in Metal rock history.😎
Rob Halford, the Metal God himself, would have something to say about that.

Udo Dirkschneider?

damn !!! GB can sing his ass off !!!!!
The backing chorus really makes this song in my opinion.
I agree. This song has a strange allure about it with every instrument contributing a shit ton to its addicting factor.
This song had 80s hit single written all over it. No idea why it wasn't.
Absolutely love this song and video!!! Fact - Life for convicts at Alcatraz Penitentiary was exactly how it was portrayed in this video.
That short hair is one reason Bonnet is/was great. Part of rock and roll is nonconformity. And when EVERYBODY else has long hair he had the balls to say "Fuck you! I like my hair short!" And his voice is so awesome no body minded.
Not many could match that voice, if any..
@@universalsoul7653 For sure. One of the best singers to come from the 80's.
The definitive persona
@@GorditoCrunch343 Graham Bonnet actually came from the 60s. Look-up "Only One Woman" by The Marbles. That was Graham singing in 1968.

I love how Yngwie appears in front of the priest at 0:44 : already guilty as charged !!
warner kurt LMAO very true!
Yeah considering he is Protestant 😸
Talk about a unique voice. Bonnet deserves greater recognition.

A bloody great song! What vocals !
I'm here for most of New England, who had a great thing before this.

Yngwie is a kid in this video! So young and awesome.
