Nice job young man! I have a question, when you set up the drilling of the tap size hole did you off set the hole by a couple of thou so as to make the insert pull tight into the sides for rigidity? You may have done so, but it was not obvious. If not check out Robin Renzetti's video about making some boring bars ( Robrenz is his channel name)
Excellent point, having produced countless similar tools at a major tool manufacturer the offset is approx. 0.1mm to the corner so that when tightening the screw the key turns an additional 90 degrees after first contact.
Very nice, I enjoyed watching it being made.
I am impressed! good Job. I think i have the same mini Lathe as you do, Wemas?
sorry I don't understand about that. i just bought it secondhand maybe made in china
Well done, it is a good tool.

I used the pointed end of the tap and placed it over the insert hole and dragged it to the corner. then make sure it is tight by hand
