Not everything needs to be modernized. Having said that, your dress was beautiful before and after. I've seen many a botched wedding dress restyle and while I may not agree with your choices, I can certainly admit when a dress has been restyled well.
I personally liked the princess thing going before. But it looks beautiful on you in both styles!
