I feel like Plaguespreader Zombie should have had at least an honorable mention.
True that it was one of the most played tuners for a long time. Avendread Slayer also deserves one in my opinion like Vampire Sucker it's such a great generic link for zombies.
Pyramid Turtle may be slow these days, but it had one of the best floating effects with being able to bring out almost every Zombie monster due to them having less than 2000 DEF.
As a rule I dont like to do honorable mentions since it makes the 10 that did make the list stand out more and gives them more weight. That being said, while constructing the list, plague spreader was in the top 30.
@@TheDuelLogs Top 30 isn't bad for something that doesn't have that harsh of a condition.
TheDuelLogs A top 30/20/15 doesn’t sound bad ^_^ . Maybe give higher nums a shot?
I never realized Balerdroch was just Treeborn Frog on crack until you put them side by side
Don't do drugs kids!
The reason why zombies are still relevant
Oh, During BOTH players turn, Read it carefully,
Funnily enough, you cannot Special summon _both_ of them, as of course Treeborn frog says you cannot control any S/T cards.

On doomkings effect. It doesnt state "your" standby phase. Just "the". So you can summon it during either standby phase
Yep it's crazy how one word can completely change a card's usefulness now if only the Nephthys archetype said 'the' 😢
@@agr0nianTV exactly lol
@@jonathandoherty9082 I still hope that Nephthys get a continuous spell/trap or field spell in the future to fix that stupid design choice
Doomking along with the zombie structure deck in general singlehandedly made Zombies a rogue deck this current meta
No, it's _only your_ Standby; the stipulation now with wording is that the word ''Quick Effect'' must be mentioned. In older wording, it's ''this effect can be use during either player's turn''.
When youtube recommends this to me: "....How did RUclips know that I play zombies?"
It's spooktober after all. Everyone is talking about zombies, ghosts, etc.
RUclips knows everything.
It knows when I play Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
It knows when I do art
It knows when I get addicted to Discord

If you were a zombie player before Zombie Hord what was your reaction to Doomking and the subsequent support for zombies that were brand new?
@@aubreyhuff46 I wasn't a Zombie player back then. I only became a zombie player fairy recently. When I got back into Ygo about 4-5 months ago.
@@ultrawinggaming9764 I have been playing since links came out, but I used to "play" in elementary school. I still have one of the OG BLS ritual monsters. Anyways zombies have become my favorite deck ever since it came out.
Throwback to that time when I decided to try out Thunder Dragons and my first matchup was against a Zombie World deck
Out of my coffin, my voice did ring. Seems I was troubled by just one thing. I opened the lid and looked at the board and said "Whatever happened to my Vampire Lord?"
Vampire Lord got old fast.

When a card or effect is activated that includes any effects: *no*

Though true most of the time, Numeron Wall is an example of cards that laughs in the face of Ash, because activating from the deck is one of few ways, to bypass Ash's negation.

aroperdope they won’t add twin unless there’s a massive power creep
My best friend had a grave keeper deck back in high school and we would always duel . I had my zombie deck and everytime it was like he wins then I win then he wins then I win lol good times :')
If number 1 isn't Vanilla Skull Servant i will unsub
Shut up
Shaddow Black0 you dissing Skull Servant?!
Its not ur business
Too much anime shit affects ur real life printer(brain)
Shaddow Black0 Whats that? A game that has an anime having anime viewers watch this video related too it?
Actually, you can use both effects of Uni-zombie once per turn each, increase level by 1, mill a zombie from your deck to the gy AND increase level by 1, discard one card.
Very useful to get a zombie world and glow up bloom out turn one
Another good one that had gotten me through many a duel is "Yuki-Onna, the Absolute Zero Mayakashi". She synergizes with any zombie deck, because her effect activates whenever a monster is summoned from the graveyard (up to twice per turn), allowing you to select one monster on the field, reduce its ATK to 0, and then negate its effects. She's come in clutch for me, forcing many an opponent to rethink whether or not they want to use monsters in their GY anymore and risk her negating any advantage they gave.
Oh yeah absolute zero and doom King are the best combo
Honorable mention to Avendread Savior for being the other good generic Zombie link monster.
11:30 During *THE* standby phase my dude it's a pretty important difference my dude
Solid list man!
it feels SO good to ash blossom an effect, then they fire back with called by the grave, and u come right back with ghost belle XD i’ve had them both in hand so many times and it feels so nice
You can make a video about : monsters that appears in most cards art . For example, in how many cards the marauding captain appear, or pot of greed, or blue eyes etc
That would require going into the lore. Card art, especially in older cards, have it's own story outside of the regular story in the anime and manga. I forgot whether or not all of them have their own manga/games or not though, pretty sure some of them have. The Duel Terminal series (from an arcade game) for example has it's own storyline and everything. Cards like Prohibition, Gagagigo and even Inpachi are like that. It might be hard for someone to make a list on the topic without extensive research but it's worth a shot
On a related note, gunsblazing talked about card lore and from whom I got to know about gagagigo's story if you want to know about the stories behind cards. Don't know if he's still doing the series though
Fun Fact: Mezuki and Gozuki are actually based off the mythos of two spirits who guards the gates of the afterlife, one being a bull and the other a horse, but in Yugioh they reversed who is who, Gozuki is supposed to be the horse, but is a bull, and vice versa. The more you know
Can you do Top 10 Ritual Monsters?
Yeah that would be cool, but restrict to only 1 or 2 cards per archtype so nekroz doesn't fill everything

What about a Top 10 Best Damage Step cards?
Until a year ago, I never really understood the purpose of the Damage Step, nor how it worked. But when I took a look at it better, I realized what it did. It's actually fairly important when it comes to timing and what cards can be activated in that time frame, so that your opponent won't be able to counter it (since, might be wrong but I think that's correct, they can't). I think this would make a great video for non-players. And players alike, maybe some like me didn't know...
@Dharc Daniel i'm not sure i fully know, but from what i can tell, basically, if a card phrases an effect as "when (thing happens)... you can...", you can only use it as that thing happens, not after another effect happens from that. or something like that.
a good example i've seen sometimes is some floating cards missing timing when used as a cost.
from what i can tell, i think spellspeed is something to do with using effects in response to other effects: 1 is things that really can't, 2 is 'quick effects' that can, 3 is counter traps that supersede the whole thing.
these are pretty much a result of the various rulings and clarifications/'clarifications' throughout the years collapsing into frankenteinian shoggoths of a pair of rules.
I don’t get how zombie master and goblin zombie made it onto the list but not banshee lol
I love Mezuki, I never play real Yu-Gi-Oh cards. But in my GX playthrough in PSP, I got to build zombie deck. And this guy was just so useful.
Mezuki is really, really good. Just it existing in your Zombie deck gives it a massive boost and you should always, always run it at max.
The amount of cute zombie monster cards further reinforces my belief Japan is trying to turn us all into Necrophiles.
Vampire Fraulein should have at least been an honorable mention. It’s so stupidly good, especially compared to other Vampire cards. Number 22: Zombiestein also deserved a spot. They both saw very heavy play when the Balerdroch structure deck came out. Speaking of that, the Red-Eyes Zombie Necro Dragon wasn’t half bad either.
no mention of *pyramid turtle*
has thou forsaken me
The Mezuki image you used in the video has him as a DARK attribute instead of the EARTH attribute he's supposed to be
Was lookin for this comment
Two really good zombie cards I use that aren’t on this list are alghoul mazera and vampire voivode
Doomking Balerdroch Is My Favorite Zombie Monster.
I think Pyramid Turtle is a hugely underrated Zombie card. You can crash it into an opponents monster and summon any zombie monster you want, including Doomking Ballerdroch
I agree! I"m using one in my vampire deck, and it's quite efficient 😉
Personally, my girl Fraulein Vampire is also a very good support for zombie decks in my opinion as she is both a great wall and an offensive threat as long as you have life points to spare ✌️
The problem is that you are risking a normal summon to crash something that could just get ashes, so it’s not worth it really
Pyramid Turtle seems really slow as it is dead if you are first, unless you want to set it in defense mode and get very little done turn one. And even when you're second, it still don't let you do much before the battle phase. Perhaps it could be more impactful if you have Fraulein Vampire in hand too, but overall it seems to deliver too little. There is so many cards that seems to do a better job cheating out powerful zombies than it.
I suppose Eldlich singlehandedly making zombies a viable antimeta also singlehandedly warrants a redo or update of this vid
EDIT: Also fun fact: before I actually got into yugioh seriously, I only physically owned two cards in my whole life, one being Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower
The second archetype I've ever tried was Mayakashi, the third was Eldlich, so imagine my first ever functional casual deck being an Eldlich Mayakashi Mill
Zombie decks were my favourites back when I used to play. Still have them although I miss playing with them so much now :(
As a zombie duelist, I'm disappointed you found a picture of Mezuki as a Dark type to use instead of its proper Earth type.
Lol
I still remember ending up with a set of 3 Mezuki's early on and when Card of Safe Return wasn't banned. Good times.
@@ShiningJudgment666 that card was...incredibly busted.
@@drbigglesworth Absolutely. Card of Safe Return will never be unbanned barring a nerf. You go +2 with Mezuki and Card of Safe Return in combination.
@@drbigglesworth
If you played the early Yu-Gi-Oh PC games then you'd understand how it wasn't broken early on
In fact it was so mediocre that you wouldn't include it in your deck if you played those games
This is the first time where I didn’t learn about new cards from your video (I’m a huge zombie speck player) still a good vid!
The first structure deck i got was Zombie Horde, so im very happy with this video. (Yes i am somewhat new to yugioh)
My favorite zombie in this video is Doom King Balerdroch
Too bad Jack-o-Bolan or Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon Lord don't get a shoutout for this list, both have a similar effect of special summoning a zombie from the grave to the field during the opponent's turn. They have some pretty decent survivability too, Jack-o-Bolan's summoning ability comes at the cost of banishing Jack until the opponent's end turn meanwhile Red-Eyes has the ability to banish a zombie you control to summon itself from the grave, decent summoning effects and survivability.
They are new
Really helpful insight! I'll be keeping this video in mind as I want to make a Zombie-focus deck.
"You can't build a zombie deck without including Mezuki in it"
Me with the vanilla zombies I stole from my cousin: *hmmm*
Uni-Zombie is great because if you can't trigger the Solitaire-Mezuki-Omega combo because you drew into Uni-Zombie first, you can easily use it's deck discard effect to discard Glow Up Bloom which then can special summon Balerdroch from the deck. 1 card can get you to either the best Zombie support card or the best Zombie boss monster.
Doomking Balerdroch and Vampire Sucker are pretty much the reason why I've bought Yu-Gi-Oh cards again after I stopped buying and playing cards near the tail end of the XYZ era for the game. Zombies were a decent and affordable deck type but severely power crept during that time period but with these two cards+Zombie World they make Zombie decks so much better and finally they can keep up with people playing more "meta" decks.
Take out the hand traps and add plaguespreader and pyramid turtle
Top frogs-related cards. That was my deck back in the day.
@Emperor DarK You're supposed to call it TOADALLY JAMMIN'
Can you do Top 10 Dinosaur Monsters?
Top 10 Counters Generators. Or the Top 10 most useful Counters to be generated.
Hi. Six Samurai player here. And I can tell you right now: Bushido Counters. Specifically the ones generated by Gateway of the Six. There's a reason that card was banned for a while. There were OTKs that could be performed with a Gateway on the field. It was _that_ good. Other counters don't compare to how overpowered Bushido Counters were.
The first list yes the 2nd one not so much
@@dudebladeX I guess Spell Counters would be the second best considering Breaker was once limited, and the new Endymion deck is a thing.
Of course a video like this would need to be made this month.
I wonder what a Top 10 Cards Least Likely To Come Off The Ban List would look like. Some cards seem like they could come off with a meta shift, some could come off with simple erratas, some though seem like they're not even able to get an errata without adding new effects/restrictions that would more likely just be printed as a separate card (ala Pot of Greed).
7:00 surprised you didn't make the hand traps count as tied for 1 slot (plaguespreader/pyramid turtle could've been used). Thanks for mentioning doomking balerdroch as why Zombie Master isn't used.
We need more zombie reprints
I just made a Zombie deck on YuGiOh! Duel Generation (I know it’s old) lol. Zombie Master is pretty dope for me against the NPCs
Pyramid Turtle was a great card and it worked well in Zombie Madness Structure Deck. It would work well with a some of the cards mentioned on this list.
I think Vampire Grimson is my favourite Zombie card, not for it being the strongest, but for helping to keep everything else alive while also special summoning defeated monsters to your field.
Basically cards that Gravekeepers love to prey on.
Wow man you are putting out videos like crazy. Me likey
I used to run a pretty consistent zombie Deck back in the day back when dark armed dragon was in its heydayit was so easy to manipulate what was in your graveyard it was so easy to set up for dark armed dragon and everything went to go for red Nova dragon which was incredibly easy to summon and cards like scar light red dragon archfiend even made it so much easier and then a lot of XYZ monsters for burn damage this deck could easily start cycling through the entire deck and I be able to fill my board with synchros very in some niche situations it could even otk but now some of that support would make that deck pale in comparison to the ideas I have now
I have an idea for a video. You could make a video detailing new support or banlist changes that would cause you to rethink your older Top 10s without actually having to go back and change them or rework the standings of what’s on them. Basically an honorable mentions video covering like five different videos at a time with new support that fits into the respective categories.
Ash being zombie is hilarious.
Great vid man !!!
i used to play a zombie deck back in the middle of the xyz times, droped yugioh as a whole back then, good to see atleast some of my cards are still relevant
I have a zombie deck and I'm not elite enough to know what card does what or how to link combos but Doomking is the reason I searched for link plays for it. Love it
Honestly, if I ever get back into yugioh, I'm playing zombies. I just love the idea of cycling used resources like Mezuki and Omega
Hell Uni zombies hand removal can also come in clutch assuming you gage either banshee or hood up bloom in there since you can get your deck beaters out or assuming you have a level 5 zombie you can get your level 10 out turn immediately
I kinda miss Pyramid Turtle, because when that thing get destroyed by battle, you can bring out any Zombie Monster from your deck with 2000 Def or lower
The OG zombie, I miss pyramid turtle
I hear that.
At least Konami hasn't forgotten him, he's the reason Balderach has 2k def and got a reprint in that structure deck.
that search/summon effect is really slow. Either you suicide it into something or you wait for your opponent to attack it. Most decks don't bother attacking till they used their effects just to kil it. it rarely activates for good reason.
@@ei-on1956 You can say that about any floater except for the ones you can pop yourself
This is the first video from you I watch, and I must say it is really good. No 2 minute intro, you get straight to the point, effects are explainend well and important cards are shown on screen. The only thing that bothers me a little bit is the inclusion of the handtraps. As you said they may be zombies, but do nothing to support zombies. Personally I just would have included them as sidenotes, but that they are in list is understandable as well.
I love it, thank you and happy halloween🎃👻💀
Imagine not bowing to the Wightking.
I feel like beast of the pharaoh should have been on the list...it literally let you keep summoning monsters to loop with mezuki/plaguespreader to keep summoning synchros
I know is not competitive or anything, but I love Vampire Vamp, especially in Duel Links. With 4000 LP, you only need to use her one time to have a OHKO beatstick, asuming your opponent didn't have another monster to defend with,.
Recently made a zombie mill deck and had to watch this video. Love me some zombie deck fun.
Yay, Vampire Sucker is on the list! On a side note, I love both Vampire Vamp and Vampire Sucker
Top 10 Anti-meta cards
One quick question for whoever wants to answer: what do you think of the structure deck “Zombie Horde” that came out this year? It contains most of the cards in this list, and with 3 copies it’s really op in my opinion.
Well, in January I came back to Yugioh after a couple of years with two Zombie Horde structures and a few support cards that I bought, and it worked pretty good with more experienced friends.
Right now zombies are my main deck and I've been 1st in many locals and a couple of tournaments.
Is Zombie Master an evolution of Twilight Spellcaster?
I'd say a top 10 list for Dark World cards. Not just its monsters, but the Archetype and support for it as a whole

Isnt Mezuki earth? in the video is Dark...
i have a question, why the trap "Return of the zombies" doesn't banish an opponent zombie monster, while using zombie world?
It says on the field, but doesnt specify ur field;
"Banish 1 Zombie monster on the field, then Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from the GY of the player who controlled it, to their field, in Defense Position. If this card is in your GY: You can shuffle 1 of your banished Zombie monsters into the Deck, and if you do, Set this card, but banish it when it leaves the field.
