    Faust got eat this patch so I think Sin should be able to toss his food at the opponent next patch to balance things out.

      Honestly if they gave they made it so that the waste from the food like the wrapper or the stick could hurt the opponent when he dropped them it’d be very funny.

    I figure the real value of I-No's new move is that it gives her a way to end her grounded Blockstrings with a pressure reset type mixup, which she used to be able to do by way of heavy stroke a few patches ago.

    fun fact, agitato means "to play in an adgitated way" so if you go to a thrash metal concert and watch the guitarist, hell probably be playing agitato, makes sense for a hard rock witch

    Even tough midare doesn't work 100% of the time (arcsys give it 5 active frames and make it fullscreen) since you can still backdash/dp/rc it it's crazy how much it does from him. In the worst case it turned situations where the opponent got free pressure into an rps situation and in the best case you get a hkd or even more with meter. I think theres a solid argument for it being number 1.
    I do kinda feel like Faust got it the worst, especially since there seems to be a bug with the move that makes it come out randomly? + Mays new move seems a bit better to me. But I also don't really consider nerfs in that since most characters got some kind of nerf.

      With Faust I think it's that the game counts the punch input as a hold way too easily and the hold length should probably be increased.

      in faust cord and dustloop discord our best guess is that it has something to do with the way the game handles rerolling items, because even close to frame perfect inputs done with eddieinput still eat. I've been told item selection is handled the lazy way with it just rerolling up to 200 times until it hits a valid item, and something in that reroll implementation might make it default to eating. That means that, for example with trumpet, there's a ~15% chance of getting an unwanted eat while a trumpet is on the screen, and the probability would go up the more one-at-a-time items are on the screen. We haven't made much more progress than that but i do recommend submitting a bug report for it if it's happened to you. the more awareness we get for it the more likely it is arcsys will patch it soon.

      Midare fixed 95% of the biggest problem Anji has had ever since launch. Which is that if the enemy has 50 meter, your spin is worse than useless. Because PRC turns it into a high risk - negative reward move. Now opponents either eat the punish or PRC and it's still Anji's turn. It also will let anji PRC his own spin which he couldn't do before, because you can "kara" PRC with the invincible startup frames.
      The rest of the changes feel like a nerf, but even though I don't know what his real position on the tier list is now, he feels more fun to play because you don't get punished for making a correct read.

    I didn't realize how many people considered the swap on Break the Law to be a new move. I didn't include it because ASW said 6 chars got new moves, so I put them here.

    It’s confirmed that 15 base roster characters are getting brand new moves that they’ve never had and it’s something that’s has me kinda scared given what some of the base characters are already doing in season 3
    I think if I were to make a list of who scares me the most and what kind of move they could get it would be
    Sol: something that does damage cuz they seem to like him doing that
    Ky: I think he needs something that utilizes shock state on hit/block, rn he doesn’t use shock state for anything outside foudre arc or the occasional SE guard break
    Nago: new move that uses blood or one that he can use in blood rage. Very scary thought if it gives him Better conversions of beyblade or DP2
    Chipp: his conversions, mixup and pressure is top tier but compared to old chipp he doesn’t have as many unique tools as he did before so I personally would like something kinda gimmicky that chipp has to utilize in a creative way.

      i just hope chipp gets a teleport, doesn’t need to be the exact same, and if anything i would just want it for oki and mix ups for people to deal with on wakeup, but i honestly don’t think chipp really NEEDS something like a new move as someone that plays him, he just feels strong as is.

      @@jico5147 A lot of people want teleport but they gave him diagonal alpha blade which is basically S/H teleport it so I don’t think it’s gonna happen. He needs something to emphasize him being a ninja cuz he lost a lot of flavor in this game
      All those characters I mentioned are “strong enough” rn so that’s why the thought of them getting a new move scares me

Sorta like how alpha plus in +r, invis, old gamma blade or even xrd kunai super. Lots of creativity and options with these moves that he used to have and now he’s kinda just a rekka monster now

      In the patch notes they don’t consider the teleport to be a new move, just an extension of a preexisting move

    I liked the video and your takes, but I think Gio needs to be a bit higher. I agree it only optimizes what's already there, but how it does so really amped up her damage and pressure. For example, her 2S is a great move for blowing up fuzzies, but previously it only gave a really weak punish (even on CH). Now with chave DP she can confirm it into a full combo and in the corner do like 50% health on the entire cast. Similarly whiff punishing with f.S is stronger now for the same reason. CH 5H (which is common in stagger pressure) now leads to massive damage even without meter. Add in guard crush oki, and a flipkick she can now combo off and in the right hands she's as dangerous as Sol, although she does require a lot more execution. She's finally true strike throw that rewards the strike if you got the stuff to pull it off.

      Again, I just think it's win more. She doesn't have hard kd off everything anymore, so even when 2s or fS wasn't immediate return in terms of numbers, the implied return was quite good. GC spiral arrow on kd is great, but is it really as good as getting a hard kd? When the opponent doesn't have an option against it, I can guess so (unsure if you can avoid things like, say, gold burst), but against a reversal chara I would take the hard kd, every time.
      Totally fine to be reward pilled though lol. I thought she was complete already, and already had insane conversions, so her getting red wild + a special move that does what she is already good at stands out to me from a character perspective. That being said, when looking at the moves individually, I can't help but personally value moves that actually fix problems and open up the character over a move that does what the character was already doing.

    One thing I heard about Faust item eat from Faust players is that while the item is stored, it is taken out of throw rotation until you use it, so besides its other uses, you can use it to make sure you don't get an item like trumpet and stick to your otherwise more helpful items. Krakatoa mentioned it so I'm taking his word that it's real.

      I distinctly remember someone complaining about getting three trumpets in a row in a match, so I don't think that's true. I think trumpet only goes out of rotation once the trumpet is physically out.

      This was the theory before the patch came out, but after it dropped it was revealed that it didn't affect the rng at all. You can still throw a trumpet with one stored as well as duplicating other items which would be impossible otherwise (mini faust, meteor)

      Axl, you should fear, Pot, eh. Axl might get some egregious things because zoners have no real restriction on what they can get, but Pot shouldn't be too bad. It's not like they are gonna give Pot a meterless reversal or a teleport

      @@lizabeth529 I might have been crazy enough to accept that at the end of Season 2 because Pot had no way to fight Jack O pressure, but now I'm kinda at a loss what Pot could really need that isn't just bizarro nonsense like low profile moves.
      They aren't gonna do air buster because it marginalizes heat knuckle even further. They aren't gonna do trishula anymore since lower body pressure isn't big of a problem and 6k neither needs conversion or pressure options anymore. They aren't gonna do ICPM since slidehead into tk ICPM is no longer relevant with hammerfall hitting OTG, and ICPM's animation doesn't really work with the new dust stage transition combo system.

    I hope that testament, Potemkin, and Axl get new neutral tools. And I hope Asuka gets a high damage command grab that’s specific to test case 2 because I’m tired of Asuka mains ignoring test case 2; it also just fits with the theme of having one card specific to a test case: examples being DP in test case 1 and teleport in test case 3.

    You are actually saying chave wrong, but I'll teach you! The sound you're making is represented by tch- in portuguese, ch- sounds like sh- in english, such as should or shallow. It would be correct if it was spanish, but then the move would be called llave. I should have commented this in earlier videos, hopefully you'll still get another chance to talk about it 🙏

    Chave doesnt fix any of Gios issues, but it does highlight one of them. All of her specials are beaten by 6p, and adding to the startup of them only reinforces that. The only time that the new special has any value is consequently only aftwr Giovanna has already won neutral.
    Thats not very good at all. Thats where Gio already excelled. It certainly stabilized her dmg(she could still 2/3 touch character b4 with a bit of effort) but that really wasnt neccisary for her and WA is contributing a lot to that stabilization.
    What Gio lost in exchange was her 623s. Even on CH in the corner, it hardly gives any reward now if at all. And thats a real shame because it was her strongest tool for frame trapping and was her most reliable dmg opener.
    The buffs/nerfs overall primarily just nerfed her neutral conversion ability and made her marginally more predictable by scewing the risk:reward for using normals or specials more towards making the normals more desirable. Thats a huge nerf when you consider that the closest thing she had to a win con. was in how she can safely fish for CHs and convert off of nearly anything from neutral.
    What Gio needed was a proper win con. Some way to better control space to better capitalize on her conversion ability would have went miles for her. What she got was nearly the exact opposite.

    I always thought that Gio is a temporary (or not) stand-in for Jam, and Ram is the same for Dizzy. Now each gets a version of their archetype's specials from previous game: 'Chave' is similar to 'Breath of Asanagi', and 'Ondo' feels like 'I Use This to Fish'. Whether this means Dizzy and Jam are likely inclusions or not... I'm not sure!

    note about midare:
    the universal counterplay to getting midared is to PRC->backdash whiff punish or PRC->dp. However, anji mito can kara cancel midare into super on reaction, so basically if anji catches something with spin with 50 meter the opponent just has to hold the L

    For Gio’s move, it’s pronounced sh-ah-v. In portuguese, the vowels at the ends of words are diminished, meaning they either become a lower tone, or almost entirely silent. In this case, you could write it as vuh-, but that’s not entirely accurate to the pronunciation. Just do the v sound you usually would with any other word, and don’t follow it up with any vowel sound.

    Just want to point out that item eat does not make any of faust's normals better on block besides 2s and 6h (you should be cancelling 2s into 5h anyway). 2h eat is 1 frame worse than letting 2h rock, and is in counterhit recovery.

    really wish gio's move was closer to fujin in terms of input, where hitting the right button after 214H would give you the other special moves instead of needing to fully do the motions for the other moves.
    I hope testament gets somthing else to use succubus with, either something like net or tree from before, but it's placed where their succubus is

    Genuinely curious, what do you think Gio needs, if not consistent damage?

      She already had consistent damage. 3 touching the majority of the cast(2 touch if you can pressure risc effectively) was relatively easy. With some really basic j.c combos. Granted, that's not always visible because some of the most common characters (Nago, Sol, Pot, leo) have pretty high hp compared to the rest of the cast.
      What Gio actually excelled at and did better than the majority of the cast just comes in the form of her conversion ability and (previously) simple execution. Simply put, she could combo off of nearly every stray hit and her execution was simply enough where it was easy to route into her most optimal combo. (In my experience, j.c sentinel type combos were incredibly stable, easy and dmging. Often easily achieving 3 touch kos without even being optimal.) The only other thing her kit does exceptionally well at, is denying other characters their Win condition. Her unique dash just ends zoning no dif. It's legit fast enough to just on reaction hunt Eddie with 2k anytime Zato spawns him.(it's not always safe to due so, but it's a good example)
      If you wanted to give Gio a win con. Then naturally you'd look to capitalize on those strengths. That means she either needs a move that can force a reaction, so she can reliably create and challenge a situation that is in her favor.(she currently loses on her own offense pretty easily) or you need a move that helps her control space.
      My personal favorite idea, is to have a move that turns Rei into a charged projectile type attack. And when I say charged attack, I mean something like what Makoto does in street fighter 3rd strike. So have Rei waiting to attack on the ground for a non-distinct amount of time, while allowing Gio to move separate from him. I can see how that would be incredibly strong in her kit overall though, so naturally I would see the absence of Rei debuffing Gios otherwise fantastic specials as a trade off.

      @LordKnightfgc certainly clever, but I can't help but feel like Arcsys is confused about what they actually want to do with the character. She flip flops every patch without significantly getting stronger or weaker each time. Never solving anything, just slowly becoming a different character from her 1.0 version.

      I personally agree, I preferred the simple to execute combos in exchange for a character that just focuses on neutral for a change, I guess I'm certainly in that Roofelmonger camp.
      It's also very irritating that they change Gio every patch for very little gain. She does the same things but I get arthritis a year earlier. Yay. In that regard, I did prefer her season 0/2 versions of her better. Personally, for her archetype, I'm surprised she doesn't have an air special; especially an air extension tool, air to ground tool (like shuriken), or command grab.
      I'm not sure I agree with your assessment of a required new move; and I'm not sure I agree that she loses on her own offense either. But I know that those are LK's trigger words and I'm not positive I'll use it right also haha.

      @@xat7824 It's an invincible move that the heavyweight characters in this game got in the latest season.
      It doesnt cost much to perform and because it's a huge, fast, lunging invincible attack that leaves them advantegeous if blocked, they tend to spam it whenever.
      Fighting characters who have that can be pretty stressful (especially at the top level), hence the grey hair.

      @LordKnightfgc I mean technically it's not one of the "advertised" new moves, but it is quite literally a new move/follow-up that zato didn't have before. Just like how anji has a follow up to spin, zato now has a follow up to break the law

      @@Gonzakoable may also got nerfed every patch except for the second last one and sol is still very strong plus he just had his general ability reduced, this patch may lost everything, her blockstrings, gone. her combos, gone. she is now functionally a character with big buttons and no specials, every special she has is just a bad version of another move someone else has

    Ok but can someone explain to me where the rock came from? I know a lot of characters in Strive seemingly pull way too much stuff out (Baiken comes to mind), but at least it's coming from their body/storage directly or with Zato and Asuka from a magic which still releases out from their direction. This rock just... appears away from Ram once she has tapped the ground enough to make gravel bounce and it points towards her, so strange
