@@pse2020 This is kind of a cop out answer because you can say this about every idea ever, since every idea is born of experience, teachings and things explained to you.
When Elon started the company his goal was crystal clear, to design a user interface that is imbedded in the brain to which will eventually help with competing against/with AI and in the near future help those with physical disabilities. Whether you want to claim this to be “His” idea is irrelevant, because he did have the idea all the same and went after it.
What you just said is like not giving the Wright Brothers credit for first flight because it wasn’t their idea to begin with. Man has dreamt of flight since many thousands of years prior.

This man is so inspiring, he is so willing to work hard every day and is clearly mind blown by the technology and freedom he was given. They found the perfect candidate as he is so grateful for every aspect of this experience - I hope Nolan is given the air time to keep talking about his life as years go on, and he goes down in the history books as an important first figure in this new era of neuro-implanted humans. In a way, he is like the first real cyborg.

Very interesting take Matt! This is neuralink 1, what will it be like by version 15, 115?? The performance enhancing drug discussions already speak to some of the issues that will drive people to feel compelled in this direction. Bioethics is going to get really complicated. Enhanced people vs 'normal' people. Even handicapped people can more than overcome the handicap with sufficient enhancement: think Oscar Pistorius. The ante for competition to get into the best schools could be going way up!

Nothing new, if you have been following the industry for the last 40 years (my first inspiration came from the 1983 movie Brainstorm). There is potential with being nearer to signal sources. But there are also elevated risks involved, especially the possibility of sensors moving and scarring the brain tissue (of which Neuralink has acknowledged themselves). Apparently the competitors (Musk tried to buy one) got in brain implant licenses earlier, but so far the BCI devices have been more successful than this as a wearable device. The competition also has medical device licenses for the other in brain implant applications, already.
