While during lovesick girls era i still felt their chemistry and them just having fun, born pink era felt like they were truly 4 soloists doing a collab. Especially their choreos with tons of backup dancers, making them rarely interact, if even have all of them on stage at the same time. It's really upsetting seeing that their verses are not just them being the center, but literally being the only one dancing with some backup dancers. I think YG could've handled this way better, at least like HYLT or Lovesick girls, where the dancers only came in during the dancebreak.

@@vixxexo6855 Yeah, but they have more members and the "solo" segments are brief and exciting. They fit in the song and they actually need those moments to stand out. Blackpink only has 4 members, so even when they're all dancing together they all stand out. There's no need to make only one member dance during their part to focus on them, because they would still stand out just as much with all of them dancing.

wdym creative control. Rose and Lisa wrote their solos, Rose even said it took her years to get it just right... and Jennie and Jisoo have worked on other songs too (like they said in the video). And they seem to have a lot of control in their individual career. To me, it just sounds like fans complaining that they aren't getting what they want so they're throwing a childish temper tantrum. It's their career, not yours.

@@randomkid4783 you realize that even adding one line to a song you’ll immediately get credits. if writing a solo tool YEARS then that just shows that 1. they’re not being taken seriously 2. they aren’t THAT invested in the writing process bc if they were a song like gone should not have took more than 2+ years to write 💀 and overall their lyrics are the bare minimum if i’m being honest. yes they have that women empowerment feel but they don’t get deeper into it.

@@cherrybxmb18 ok you literally have no idea about the writing process do you then? I’m literally starting to write for my own songs (not posting them anywhere because still new to it) but anyone can write lyrics. But quality lyrics takes time. 1) learning lyricism is a skill which is why it takes time for people to learn it… which is why idols like Idle’s Soyeon are so incredibly talented to be doing it so early in their career. 2) for Rose’s writing style, it’s so much more in depth. Rewrites after rewrites to get the proper emotion, feeling, and message across. That takes lots of time, and once you have all the lyrics together. You have to write keys and everything. Saying that them taking too long means they aren’t interested is literally demeaning them as artists. Are you saying that most western artists are bored with music because they don’t pop out music every 2 years… no! So sit down and shut up

It is not really that simple as "shows that they’re satisfied with the bare minimum". 2NE1 was mistreated as hell and even worse than Blackpink is, and even then, 3/4 renewed their contract when it was over (one of them being CL, who was also mistreaded regards her solo career). YG can make a lot of promises (they love doing that) and it is not Blackpink fault if they believe it will change.

  • @Nameless_mixes

I don’t know how hot of a take this is sooo… We’ll call it “luke-warm”. I don’t think that Blackpink is sick of being artists. I think they’re sick of being idols. What do I mean? What’s the difference?
Being an idol is so structured and precise. You aren’t given much room for artistic freedom. When you see a lot of their performances when they seem happiest, they’re not in the middle of a choreographed routine. They’re messing around, dancing how they want, walking around the stage, etc. i think they want to keep performing (and possibly being a group). But they want more creative freedom to express themselves how they want.
In a similar vein to Twice renewing their contracts out of love for being a group, I think BP will follow a similar path. But I think they’re going to negotiate things with YGE to let them do what they want on their own terms (just like how Twice hasn’t had a million comebacks between 2022-2023 compared to 2016-2021. I think they told JYPE “We know that you want us to stay with the company. And we’ll do so under the condition that you stop overworking us.” I think BP could do something similar in maybe having more comebacks. But yeah, for as much grief as I have with YGE, I don’t think they’re disbanding yet.
My main concern is that these renewals are usually only for 3-4 years. So, I don’t know how much longer it’ll be until we’re having this conversation again. I’m just hoping for the best at this point.

I think they're going to resign because of how YG has handled them. Surprisingly not in a bad way. While solo stans are annoying, they have set up solo careers. Lisa could become a mentor in YG, Jennie too although she could do anything from modeling to being a soloist, Rose is most likely going to become a soloist and Jisoo an actress with comebacks here and there like how SNSD does.

  • @sumysim3245
    @sumysim3245 Год назад +321

Honestly, I'm in the middle. I love all of the members, some more than others, but I do really enjoy them, but individually. They've never been promoted as a group, their vocals, personalities, and personal styles are all different and that's what YG has been pushing these few years. Unique girls who came together as the ultimate group. I don't think any of them have any passion for music anymore, Lisa is a dancer with tons of influence in K-pop today, Jennie is a top model with many brand deals and pretty much never scandal-free, Rose is a vocalist who loves interacting with fans and is more "free" than the other members, and Jisoo is an actress with much potential in her years ahead. They seem like really good friends, but they don't seem to be a "group" anymore, Blackpink has become a brand, not a K-pop group. With the big competition right now with many new rookies, Blackpink won't stand a chance without their popularity. Their music isn't good, they usually have the same concept and formula, and they don't stand out anymore. If BP renews their contract (which is most likely, but I doubt they'll do anything new), I hope they use their old teen crush concept, since it was fun and actually had good music in that era. I wish BP nothing but the best, but they seem...old. With new groups that are twisting the classic "better than you" concept, I think Blackpink won't stand out without their Blinks streaming and listening to their music.

To say BlackPink isn’t gonna be able to compete with new generation of idols is simply incorrect. Those groups aren’t even able to compete with BP 3 years ago, let alone now. Let’s not forget BP is the most subscribed artists on youtube, have the most streamed music video by a kpop group, they’ve got arguably the biggest female artists of this decade on their discographies (dua, selena, gaga and cardi b), literally the most streamed girl group on any platform, best selling album by a female kpop group, the profit they make from a single instagram post makes them more money than most idols do performing, they have sold out tours, a netflix doc, headlining the most elite music festival in history, ambassadors for the biggest fashion houses in the world, jennie’s show will be on a the most elite hollywood network starring the most popular male artist in this generation and much more. if you seriously think bp is gonna wither away so easily with their global success then idk what to tell you because no kpop girl group is going to be able to replace them considering they’re literally now the most prominent girl group in the world and being compared to 5H, Little Mix, Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child. It’s simply not possible.

Unlike many say I actually think bp had a lot notable stand points to them when they began. Cause having been in the kpop space where back in the day as a female, you were either a pretty idol who is an eye candy performer with sweet cute choreo or artistically and musically inclined idol that didn't have to fit into a lot of the kpop visual, behavioural and dress code norms. A good example is 2ne1. Bp was a decent mix of both except for the artistically inclined bit. And that's where the mistake on yg's behalf arised.
I cant begin to imagine how frustrating it would be to have lyrics that constantly exude the 'I am this' 'I am that' narrative without being able to represent your story and then being asked what your process and your journey is. The number of times I have come across interviews where deep music or artist related question are answered by the members, with respect to the dress or makeup, is straight sad! If YG ever gave them that space to think, what is the essence of bp having those 'dollar bills that keep dropping', or 'bring money to your table, not your dinner' or 'All of these girls on some uppercase shit
That mean they all cap' etc. Cause these are big statements that would essentially come from an experience that makes you react a certain way or make such statements. We don't even know how much each member of bp even associates personally to the statements in their own songs. Cause their is a huge identity crisis around bp and the girls really need to find the best space to express their own voice. Whether the be a group or not.

I can also see the music parts on their solo career.
All of them have started their career with 2 songs. Which is not a good start it does not tell who they are as artist, it says nothing.
It feels like they were there for 2 weeks and then dissapeared again in the dungeon.
And also if they want a serious Solo career, Blackpink has to die.
Like imagine waiting 7 years for two songs. And having a fanbase that loves you when you are together, but 3/4 hate you when you do solo stuff.
I mean their career will always bee minimun, because they need to look out for the others that everything is fair. And then it takes ages for one songs.... if I would be them I be out. That has to be so frustrating just to drive circles in your career.

@@lucycarlay8547 agreed. Solos for me was the most dissapointing. Because that was the area were people started their substance-less tracks as being a prime example of female empowerment. Especially with Lisa's track. Like if it was part of an album that really dives deep into her feelings her journey, even her genuinely good dance skills then ok. But otherwise I was like is that it lisa? That's all to you? I would love to believe not. Especially considering how versatile she can be in her dance films (trully some of the best of her works). Not that the jennie and Rose's solos were ok with just a typical love and breakup song but it was atleast believable. Then what was so frustratingly dissapointing was jisoo's solo. Here solo debut named 'me' gave me so much hope. And yet it ended with an ok song (that had potential to be better if it was extended to a bridge and outro with more space for lyricism). Jisoo might not be the most charismatic. But she has a kind of elegance only she posses in bp. Her acting career, her life as the oldest, her role in bp, what working in the industry is like etc. There is so much each of them can use to put into their music. That's why I find it so cringe. Cause they wanna come across as these ultimate power girls. But a persona with no substance is not a powerful mature women. There is so much to a woman than being bossy, love life and getting branded clothes.

Personally I think they are going to renew their contract. However their schedule will probably be the same or worse since baby monster is coming soon and YG is not able to promote and handle more groups at one time and baby monster needs to make a name for themselves in their rookie years to put them out there so there will be more focus on them for the first year or two so we might not see any music from blackpink in those years. Business wise letting the girls go will be a bad idea because at the moment they are YGs money makers and if baby monster doesn’t do well it can be a big backlash if YG lets them go. Overall I think that if they do renew their contract will may be a bad decision if YG doesn’t get better at promoting groups at the same time but if they do renew I wish they start anew with a new concept or different sounding music because I would say that renewing a contract is like starting anew and their image at the moment is their downfall personally because there isn’t much room to grow from that image

Here are my thoughts: If the Blackpink girls were really serious about continuing in music (who knows if they are), they would not resign with YG because it's clear that YG doesn't really give a fuck unless it's important to them. The girls would go to a company who would let the Blackpink girls do whatever they want. They have the worldwide recognition, so it would surprise me if other companies DON'T want any of the members under their roaster. If they do resign with YG, I think that proves my suspicion that they don't care what they do unless it makes them money, and because of their insane fanbase and the unusual business practices of YG, they can make millions of won by barely doing anything at all. (And those are the kinds of artists that really piss me off because there are artists out there who actually care more than they do when it comes to the music they make, but they don't get jackshit out of it.)

They do love music but YG seemingly has stifled any creative expression or any artistic growth from them. Then again, they're rich as hell and it's thanks to their talents (ofc) but also the way YG marketed them. The fact that they are still pumping out albums and songs doesn't really mean that they are passionate about music. They are contractually obligated to do that since it's their job. Many singers can sometimes lose passion for music overtime due to certain factors like being overworked, not getting creative freedom, or just realizing they like doing other things. If they truly aren't passionate about music anymore then I'm sure they wouldn't outright say that since they wouldn't want to disappoint their fans (and I don't even think they would be allowed to by YG lol). From my perspective it does seem like they don't really care about the music aspect tbh cuz it's just so mediocre and repetitive. And it's not like they're out here writing full songs or even half of their own songs. Probably a couple lines at most. To me, they genuinely seem happier doing other things, which is good for them. I don't think people have enough information to assume something. First of all people saying they won't renew as a fact or a done deal and list as reason they don't want to be artists anymore, they have lost interest and they just want to be influencer are ridiculous. We have no idea how good or how bad the girls really are if we have to be honest. We don't know if they hide themselves behind "it's yg's fault" or if yg is really making all their decisions. It seems to be more towards the latter cause some times the girls really seem clueless about comebacks. Like for born pink many things were shot so freaking early and you bet you ass that Jennie dyed her hair for a comeback and not just a photo in the album, yet born pink came much later. We can use many exaples like Rosè having her solo ready for years, but we can't ignore that in their own solo things like their youtube channels, weverse or tiktok they don't do much even if should be fully under their control (aside from jisoo). Bottom line we don't know what's in their current contract and what will be in their next one. The reason bp do so many brand things is because they have decisional power and monetary gain that they can decide on their own, but they always put the group first (even if the activities are rare ahahah). The only reason I can list as a sign of renewing ignoring all the assumptions would be their bond. They are influential for sure and almost all of it started with yg there is no doubt, but I think the only reason they will go to that meeting with the possibility of renewing is the fact that those girls live each other a lot. People question their bond constantly if one of them posts late for a birthday or a solo, when in reality they never shut up about each other. I think that is the only leverage yg has, if they put their freaking pride to the side and offer a decent contract, meaning promotion that is promotion, possibility of variety shows, one full album a year or two mini it would be perfect. They have time to have solo activities each year (being music, mentor shows or dramas) visit families and tour once every two year.

Some people say they should go to another company but if they do they won't have the same success. The reason BP is what they are today is because (mainly) of YG, the company had all the conections in the music, media and fashion industry (in and outside of Korea) to give them deals and projects. The girls haven't produce or write a song all by themselves in their almost 7 years of career, their music, asthetic and success was made by their company. If they go to another company they won't chart, have the same amount of views or their characteristic sound because the members itself haven't shape none of that, it was all shaped by their company.
Don't think I'm hating on them but it's the truth and let me give a comparison... If groups like BTS, GIDLE, Stray Kids and SVT change company you won't see that much difference when it comes to their music, success or group as a whole since all of those groups are self produce, they've been working on their music since the begining so they know how to do it since they have a lot of experience. But if a group like BP that is used to all the benefits of being in a company like YG, changes, (they won't do it) it would be like a 25 year old walking for the 1st time after being used to be carried around their whole life, it doesn't mean they can't learn how to but it'll be hard for them.

It Is always a 50/50 thing, artist/producer/company….it is like that since day 1, 1950s til now, good company / managers who knows what to do then you are the lucky artist/group. Blackpink is lucky in that sense. No none of the boy bands and girl groups including those you mentioned are capable to survive on their own and that’s just the nature of boy bands and girl groups, their forte is not the songwriting department, they don’t know how creating music from scratch cos they don’t actually play instruments. Well looking good and dance good , that’s the most important, well artist’s longevity is questionable in that sense, but who’s caring about that now, no one cos that’s not the important factors NOW. Blackpink is able to be the most popular girl group now is not because of just the music, it can’t be, there’s better music out there for sure. YG knows exactly the girls are unique, each have their own distinctive characters, and this is definitely a selling point (look at Beatlemania, John Paul George and Ringo as example) and fans buy that , and fans are not stupid, especially these days , we want the real you, not the manufactured you. That is why Blackpink is successful. And RUclips, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, these platforms helps to expose that a great great deal. YG may be the mastermind , but if they have a group with no personalities, then is not going to work for them as well, so there is no mastermind here, it’s just god playing chess making things works, we are just lucky to have them.
And the scale of phenomenal success that Blackpink achieved, it have reached to a point of no longer the scenario you are trying to portray. YG is just a vehicle for them, Blackpink is the driving force. Let’s not forget that if a group is not as likable as Blackpink, no matter how hard YG try to push, is going to be a moot point.

While the strategy works now, but it won’t work forever. Tbh, I personally feel like it’ll start failing them very soon given the amount of successful new groups. When BP rose to fame the situation was different. 2NE1 was no longer active. BP filled the hole 2NE1 had left behind. Kpop was growing in popularity in the West, while girl groups in the West were at a decline. Fifth Harmony went on an indefinite hiatus in 2018. The desire for another new big girl group to replace them was big.
Today, Kpop is an established genre in the West. A lot of rookie gen 4 groups appeal to western audiences. YG is debuting another girl group with presumably the exact same concept as BP.
I genuinely have very little hope for the group if they don’t change anything with the renewal of their contract. They can’t keep relying on the strategy.

Personally, I don't necessarily think they need to disband. In all honesty, all of the members are talented and shine in their own ways. They have their own unique color that makes them distinct from one another yet blend as a group. They have great chemistry as a group and they have a lot of fun on stage together. I think everything started to change when everyone started doing more solo activities than group activities. It made it harder for them to blend as a group, I'd like to think it's because they may have realized that they want to focus on other paths instead of being an idol. I'd say maybe from 2020 onwards, it seems some of the members seem distracted and no longer as passionate. Rosé and Lisa seem to put in the most effort at the moment (based on my concert experience). If they regain their passion and love for being an idol as a group then their current status as the best girl group wouldn't be questioned. Sincerely 2016-2018 were the peak years, you could see they were truly enjoying the stage and giving it their all. Also, another factor would be the company, its obvious restrictions are being imposed on them. Based on their solos, they have the aptitude for producing and writing music, yet they are rarely credited and they aren't really given the chance to produce music as a group only in solos. As much as I love Blackpink, I do miss the old them and their earlier types of music.

i also think the point you made in the video about yg doing all they can to keep blackpink is a factor many people forget to consider in this discussion. obviously they're gonna fight to keep their biggest cash cow together, that's just smart business.

Also for better or worse, BP remains one of the most important connections for kpop to the western market, especially now that BTS is in the army. We may not see it directly, but many western audiences are introduced to the kpop medium via BP, even if they eventually move away from them and find what they actually like amongst the many kpop groups. We dont really have an alternative that can serve BP and BTS's role yet, and perhaps for a long time. So until we actually have the next global star, we are kinda stuck with having BP serve as the global kpop ambassadors to spread kpop beyond the asian markets

For me saying they lost passion is just too funny. We know Rosé likes music af, jennie too but its understandable that she doesn't show it anymore because she got fed up by the hate she's been getting through the years. We know jisoo write lyrics but i just think her and lisa are the 2 members that are less inclined towards music than chaennie. And its understandable that they are getting "bored" those girls have been getting comebacks 1 every 1 or 2 year. Yg has restreined their music and even their image so much. They created this mysterious aura, and exclusive, around bp that they cant do a lot of things. No collab stage, dance, very rare song cover, rare dance cover. If i was those girls i would've been fed up too. I hope they dont renew, i need them out. But i think theh will renew, if they renew they better get really good lawyers to negociate their contract.

I’m torn. I want them to not renew their contracts because it seems to me like they want different and newer things for themselves. I think Rosé should become a soloist, but not an idol soloist, just a global artist in general. I think she would be incredibly successful if she branched out from the idol industry and made her own way the world. Jisoo, I think may be on the path to stick to acting and modeling. I could see Lisa becoming a solo idol, and same with Jennie + modeling & acting. Blackpink was one of my first ult groups too but I want them to be successful in the ways they individually want to be successful and I don’t want them to be trapped in the YG dungeon anymore.
If they stay together, I hope you’re right and the pressure on them lessens after BabyMonster debuts and they’re given a variety of genres to work with. Lovesick Girls was the last full group track by them that I fell fully in love with. All of their other recent stuff, except Hard to Love (which imo should’ve been on Rosé’s solo album) is so stale (imo.) I’m sick of the Badass Brag genre for them. We get it, Teddy! And Flower by Jisoo would’ve been a much better song had it actually been mixed competently. I physically cannot listen to it because the instrumental pierces my ears and drowns out Jisoo’s voice, and the empty, synth-filled chorus is too reminiscent of Solo and does Jisoo such a disservice. I love her voice and she deserves a song that shows it off. I was so hoping that Jisoo’s solo debut would be phenomenal and help push Blackpink as a whole forward into a new era, but I’m not hopeful. Especially not if Teddy is still their main producer. He can’t get out of the 2016 era and it’s incredibly frustrating.
I want what’s best for Blackpink in the long run and while I don’t want their last comeback to be a flop, I don’t have any confidence that future comebacks will be successful or even good. They’re not creating trends anymore; they’re falling behind. I don’t know if YG can help them catch up.

I feel like there might be a member or two that might stick around, but considering how many artists how left YGE, especially recently, I will not be surprised if BP chooses to leave. I don't think they've lost their passion for music, but I do think they might not be enjoying the path they've taken. They get one comeback every two years, and sometimes a random song drop. They're not really being marketed as artists, but rather as influencers. They didn't deal with years of training to become influencers. I also agree with your point that YGE will most likely go to great lengths to try and get BP to renew since they're the breadmakers for them. (Not that the other artists YGE have/had don't make money, but the profits from BP are definitely significant.) I hope that Baby Monster doesn't crumble under the inevitable pressure they will face when they debut. (Not wishing ill on them, but knowing how netizens are, it's practically a given that they'll watch those girls like vultures.)
Whatever happens, I hope BP will do what they want. If they want to remain a group, go solo, or try something new, they should. They've spent a really long time doing what others want and that can't be easy.

I can see your point with Babymonster taking the pressure of Blackpink, but I'm not sure I 100% agree. I was a diehard ARMY when TXT debuted, so even though some things are different, I've been in that position of a fan of a popular group that's holding up their company getting a hoobae group. I honestly didn't feel such a big shift of attention - a lot of people did check out TXT because they came from (at the time) Big Hit, but BTS still remained the flagship group with lots of eyes on them, and TXT still grew in an organic way slowly finding it's own fan base, in my opinion.
People may be curious about Babymonster right now, but the main interest is still on Blackpink. If anything, I think the conversation will get even more heated because people will expect BP to have better contracts with more creative control if they resign, and will be watching to see what kinds of activities the girls prioritize.

Blackpink is what got me in the industry and genre as well. Honestly that changes my opinion a lot. It's not like im a blink blink anymore, I don't LOVE their music at this point compared to so many other artists I've liked and loved along the way, but honestly i still adore their music, mostly the earliest pieces, and they are nostalgic to me. But i seriously don't know if it's better for them to renew or not. They do seem burned out from my pov, and don't even feel like a GROUP when performing together, just some idol friends under tha same entertainment that performed together in a unit. And don't get me wrong but they DID feel like a consistent group back then. They just seem nit to enjoy themselves anymore. On the other hand I don't see the whole industry without them, they were my first favourites and have been the "first" for so many kpop fans out there. So idk if it's better for them to go solo, to enjoy their work, to renew (keep being money pumpers for YG) or keep being a group under another entertainment. Either way I'll support them tho. I just believe that if they do renew their contracts under YGE they will not only get the same treatment, but even worse since we all know that at least for 2-3 years YG will fully focus on the debuting group babymonster (which btw is more or less their only hope in case bp decides to leave too). If they do renew i think it'd be better to demand more constant comebacks, if they don't the whole kpop industry will feel pretty much different for all of us...
Anyway sorry for the huge rant, those were just some of my personal thoughts

I love this video and I believe every comment you made was totally valid. Nevertheless I still think it would benefit the members of Blackpink if they disband. I think YG keeps these girls in a box, completely limiting their potential in exchange for whatever makes them more money. I think each of them as creatives will be able to explore more avenues of opportunities if they disband, like freedom to do more acting projects, music outside the limitations of the kpop genre, freely date and share their opinions, things that are generally frowned upon if they are idols. Disbandment is never going to remove the fact that they were and will always be Blackpink. And just because they Disbanded does not mean they won't be able to make music together in the future, it just means YG's contract will no longer limit their opportunities.

Honestly, I’m so torn on this topic. I worry that if they renew they will be dragged down the same way 2ne1 was, given the bare minimum of comebacks and music (more so than usual) once the new girl group debuts. I see a lot of talk about them joining the Black Label but that doesn’t mean their treatment will get any better and they’ll still be under the musical direction of Teddy, who at this point has really done nothing to experiment with or expand their sound. Part of me thinks they should just do their own thing. If they don’t renew and decide to go solo, I do think they’ll find success because they’re all immensely talented. But it’ll also be so sad and disappointing because I don’t want to see them disband. Maybe they won’t; iKON didn’t disband for example. Maybe they wouldn’t in this situation either, but (with their recognition, popularity, and royalties they get from their name alone) I just can’t picture them being allowed to take their name, music, or group concept with them when they leave. That being said, I think they have the talent and fan support to start over and still prove to be a massive success. Whatever happens, I wish these four girls the best.

Blackpink just feels like a group that’s stuck. And in a lot of ways it’s because YG itself feels stuck in 2018. I never see Blackpink and think creativity, innovation, K-Pop leaders. Maybe once, but still? Most of K-Pop has moved so far beyond them in terms of sound and concept, nobody’s looking to imitate Blackpink in any way other than their success. They’ll do covers when Blackpink comes back and then forget about them for the next two years. They just seem so… trapped. And I don’t think baby monster will help. I think they’ll get trapped even worse because now there’s not even a reason for YG to give them a comeback every two years so they can pay the bills. Their solos all presented a brilliant opportunity for them to expand creatively beyond Blackpink yet somehow they all released tracks that wouldn’t sound a touch out of place on a Blackpink album. They’ve had seven years to creatively expand and that didn’t happen. I don’t think a new contract and a new GG will change that. Blackpink needs to disband. The members deserve better. They deserve an actual fresh start and actual creative growth, not YG giving them the same thing over and over again but more expensive this time.

I agree on a lot of the points you've mentioned here. Each member as soloists are great, I sometimes think that the current setup of BP boxes them in too much and limits them a lot. Just not sure if all of them will renew, because if they don't it kinda defeats the purpose of renewing.
What I kinda resent is how YGE keeps toying around the renewal "news", because IMO they don't have a lot of relevant stuff to keep people interested in the company. Until GD releases his new album or BaeMon debuts, they will keep things all up in the air to maintain investor interest. Regardless, I expect even lesser comebacks from BP if they renew because of BaeMon debut(less pressure, YGE focus more on the new group) and more solo activities(modeling and maybe even performing). I don't actually know how it would look like and am curious to find out, as it would be a first time for the company to have 2 GGs if ever. But if they ever renew, I hope they are given more opportunities to express creative liberties in the music they put out.

This has been a weird subject for me to think about , because blackpink is the first kpop group I stanned,I love the members, the songs are- okay, but for me , even though I’m not into them that much anymore , they hold a special place in my heart yk?
I say they SHOULD renew. They all do seem like they are still interested in being a part of the group, but what people don’t see is that they all aren’t interested in the SAME thing. Lisa is interested more into dance, jennie is focused I guess on her performing/rap(?) rosé is interested into her vocals/song writing, jisoo- maybe also vocals? Im not a expert on vocals but I THINK jisoo improved a little on her vocals then before?
People think that every member of a group has to be extraordinary at everything, now that many clips of jennie being lazy have went viral, they think that they just don’t care. Like you said, they are honestly a pillar of kpop in the west. If they disband, for a while I think kpop will not be that influential in the west, since bts is on hiatus for enlistments, maybe twice and (possibly newjeans) will be the groups for the west. But the concept of blackpink made it so marketable in the west, once twice does one song that’s cuter, it won’t be so marketable in the west, same for newjeans, except only the MEMBERS are are marketable in the west, not really their songs tbh. But I think, even if blackpink renews, comebacks will be very unfrequent. YG is pushing everything on to baemon rn, with baemon in the spotlight of YG, blackpink won’t be “neglected” but definitely not as promoted anymore .
So, in conclusion, I say blackpink SHOULD renew ❤
(My opinion , not hate to anyone else❤ )

I unstanned Bp last year shortly after the release of born pink. But I do like the girls as people since bp were my gg ults for the longest time. It's just that they don't seem or feel like a kpop group anymore. They seem to lack this spark in their interactions. For example, if you see bp house / tour diaries and then compare it to bpm, it just feels dry, colourless if you know what I mean. Maybe it's just me, maybe I've just grown up but that's how I feel. Even their performances are not the same anymore, like I said before, that spark is missing. Even their Tokyo/Kyocera dome performances are more enjoyable than any born pink concert. That coupled with the bad music in this recent album made me come to the decision of unstanning. And it sucks cuz I wanna like them so bad.
I want them to renew and have frequent comebacks with good music and excellent performances. But if nothing is going to change after the renewal then i don't see a point in them continuing as blackpink. As of now, to me at least, bp is lost.
