When Marshall dropped the DriveMaster in 1992, a new precedent was set for overdrive and distortion pedals, evoking the stadium-shaking sonics of their JCM-800 packed into a pint-sized powerhouse. After many years, the highly coveted pedal makes its triumphant return, commemorating the 60th anniversary of Marshall’s seminal sounds. Its design carefully and faithfully mimics the original, resulting in historically accurate, arena-sized tones that Nick Bowcott takes to task, detailing the story of this iconic pedal before cranking things up with some high-octane licks. Take a listen!

Even when I am not interested in a product, I love watching sweetwater videos because of Nick, Mitch, and Don. Amazing guitar players and presenters, knowledgeable, and fun.
I just bought mine, it's a super sweet Marshall pedal ! ♥️😽
Great video Nick! I really love these 4 pedal videos! I think I am most impressed by The Gov'ner pedal. They all sound amazing! You Rock, Nick!🤘🏻🎸🎉☕️
Whoaa momma! Lay. It. Down! 🤘🤩 🎸
I thought the same thing when he played the riff! 🤘🏼🎸
Uncle Fester can SHHRREEEEDDDDDDDDD
Hey nick duh!.great demo again 😊
A little "symptoms of the universe", that sold me the pedal right there...
The price is ridiculous
To hide the fact that im not plying it well. That comment got me 🤣🤣🤣Sounds Great, to the point where you made me buy one just now
Excellent demo Cheers 🔥🔥🔥🤘
Dope af!
What song is the intro riff?
So they are selling two versions of the Guv'nor in a different box?
Yeah the Guv’nor was released in ‘89 and this was originally 92 I think? Same circuit. I think the Drivemaster may have a little more gain.
The circuit in the DriveMaster has more gain and the EQ is different
@@PartedMyShants is it
I have the guvnor and drive master and they are exactly the same
I think the reason they didn’t fare as well in the U.S. at the time was plain bad timing. We were all trying to get rack gear in the 80s, and then the 5150 happened in the early 90s.
Anthrax ❤
Mantap bang
Same circuit as guvnor?
Definitely
Yes but adjusted with more gain and a slightly different EQ
I hear them as being the same
Same circuit as Guv’nor?
I can't get those tones no what pedal I use, there got to be more to it?
We hear all guitar through a microphone. You’re never hearing an amp and pedals, you’d need to be standing with him.
He misspoke; "by 98 they were gone".
Es un preamp ???
Price on these are ABSURD. This was my first pedal circa 93.. got it used for $40. Marshall can get bent.
Can’t say I’m happy about the price but all guitar gear seems to be getting more expensive these days. Multiple recent Epiphones are listed for $1300 now. I guess considering what the original Marshall pedals sell for now on the used market $250 isn’t too bad a price.
@@rocktorrocks you're not wrong.. although ehx or jhs could make you equally happy for half the price.
@@BlingFreeJ For sure. I haven’t tried them myself but heard there are some good clones of these Marshall pedals and similar amp in a box pedals which are likely cheaper due to not having to pay for the Marshall branding.
They did away with the Jackhammer from their product line. Boooo. But this sounds pretty good.
All these series pedals sound pretty much the same😂👌
I have all 3 and I can attest that they do not whatsoever.
So if you have a JCM 800, the master drive is pointless? I'm new to pedals and want to get a few for the 800
Not pointless per say u can use it as a second channel or something
Lots of hype around these pedals. Perhaps the Moore and Mayer association?? Both those players used them in front of tube amps and a lot of their tone came from the tube amp’s power section being pushed. These reissues are overhyped IMO and just riding the wave of “boutique” effects pedals, the same way Marshall cashed in on the lifestyle products you see at Target and Walmart etc.
No good, different knobs
Way over priced $249 for one of these pedals. With a tube screamer and a rat you can sound like any of these pedals. Most OD just have different EQ setting’s build in and that’s why they all sound a little different. Marshall is just taking advantage of the “hype”
Total money grab, I will never buy another Marshall product.
