Unfortunately, a lot of investors were taken for a ride by Henrik Fisker who by the Forbes Magazine estimate is worth $1.6B! Please help me out, how do you get that rich by building companies and taking them to bankruptcy? Regardless, I do believe that Fisker Ocean is a great EV in its price range, but designing cars and running the business are two different skills.
Old scheme. Pay yourself well, dump all your expenditures into the company and walk away, letting your vendors and investors take the loss. Trump has been doing this for decades.
FISKER is an OUTDATED ICE platform built by MAGNA.
It's easy to get that rich if you're a good salesman. Convince people to invest in your company, bleed off the money and then have the corp go bankrupt. You got your money.
But Sam, citing pre-orders means nothing in terms of real world orders. 75% of the preordered F-150 Lightings were cancelled. The EV market is nearing saturation, as is the ICE market because folks just can’t afford things anymore in the US.
Simply saying the EV market is going to grow by using pre-orders as data point just doesn’t work in 2024. The dozens of F-150 lightings on my local Ford Stores lot proves that fact.
The real difference is that Fisker and others loose money on every EV sold so preorders don't have the same affect as with companies who make money on their sales.
Even BYD sales in China are falling.Intact all car sales are falling in China,,yet Electric Viking highlights VW,etc.Economic crisis is hitting China.
Nooooooo Sam Marques does a fine job reviewing cars, especially bc he doesn’t position himself as an expert and is just giving his opinion - he even shoots the Autofocus car review channel on iPhone I believe to emphasize the point that anyone can start a RUclips channel and perhaps that he’s not a car expert but more of a car enthusiast .. as long as he is being upfront and honest about his reviews being his opinion, I think he’s doing just fine!

Agree it's all about product quality, especially in the EV space where much of the technology is still largely in an experimental phase. Thus focus on quality becomes even more critical.

All the ICE producers will be at risk if there are more homes with renewable energy installation with battery storages or the fossil fuel prices keep on going up relative to the energy supplied from utility at a much more predictable cost. I've owned a Jaguar I-Pace for over 3 years and have not had a single problem with it. It's an awesome car with a luxurious interior that is head and shoulders above the stark interior of a Tesla. I get more compliments on the car than my Rivian R1S. Handles great, super acceleration, comfy and quiet. Nav system isn't as good as the Rivian but it's definitely not a POS
except it has VERY POOR Efficiency & RANGE .
cost MORE than Tesla model 3 RWD to Charge.
NEW Tesla model 3 2024 is the BENCHMARK to beat.
Its a shame really. fisker´s cars have a cool design. And Marquee specifically said he loved the car and most of his gripes were software issues.

Fisker is a brilliant designed car - and that metal blue one is rock and roll. In Denmark i have only seen the ocean ones that are sold at +80.000 Eur (and same price for used models) and surely Fisker should have entered the market with the 30-40.000 Eur version's, so perhaps that's where Fisker is repeating the mistakes that Lucid is having. Also the ones that are for immediate delivery 4-15 days uptill 90.000 EUR...... Pricepoint is the key here. They should have shipped a tzunami of the Pear's instead.....for a more affordable price....

Fisker & MAGNA did NOT even Benchmark the 2024 NEW Tesla model 3.
and MAGNA is using same OLD ICE platform Developed for the iPACE, which JAG is KILLING in 2024.
Magna Steyr are responsible for building the car, however they are not responsible for the buggy software, that is on FIsker. All the problems with the cars are related to software and not on the actual hardware or build quality, so you calling out Magna is quite harsh, when they are not clearly responsible for the horrible software and fiskers complex sale strategy.
I do not think the front hood flying open, when customers are not even supposed to be opening it at all, only repair people, while driving is something not the fault of Magna at all.
Magna Styer has been building G Class for the last 50 years.
So you work it out
fisker is more at fault, but so is magna a bit too. they make quite a lot of unreliable cars for manufacturers. magna isnt a great company either.
That was a dumb design choice. should of hand a hood spring to show it wasn't bolted down. Or better a damn hood latch!

I work for Fisker. There is some gossip going around between employees that Magna is coming on board. They are saying Magna pumping in 190 million and going to concentrate on Alaska and Ocean. Fisker has been asked to clear old stock and cancel current customer orders.
Knowing this, Would you buy the stock? It’s at 0.02 rn. if it were to rise back to its starting price of ~$10 a $1000 dollar investment would be worth ~$500,000

It’s actually a great car. Test drove one, has some quirks but all start ups do. It’s unfortunate they need business people but it’s probably too late

This was actually so obvious and I made the comments that Fisker would fail on this channel when the Ocean launched.
Anyone who looked at the numbers with any serious detail would understand this was a typical snake oil salesman situation.
The plan was surely to get some major brand to buy in before bankrupcy but it never happened.
there is no IP to buy from FISKER , the OCEAN is Entirely Engineered & built by MAGNA on very OLD ICE car Platform. and JAG is KILLING the iPACE in 2024 , also built by MAGNA.

I live close to the magna steyr production plant in Graz that makes the ocean. You know what's funny the only place I ever saw the ocean was at the local V4 supercharger surrounded by teslas (mine included) and there were only two of them which of course were test models. It was like a dolphin surrounded by sharks. Other than that nobody here bought them even though there were adds everywhere especially youtube was advertising them a lot.
If Fisker files for bankruptcy, does that mean my new Ocean is no longer covered by a warranty? Will I have to pay out of pocket for repairs? Will spare parts be unavailable? I’m very worried now.

Probably all of it, except the spare parts. As long as magna exists, you might have some (uncleared) access to spare parts. But somebody would need to be found and make a business case out of it (selling parts, maintenance manuals etc.).
More likely there will not be any more sw updates after a bancruptcy. So anybody waiting for version4 is a lost case.
Sadly yes - the warranty is with the manufacturer. You do have a contract with whoever sold you the car though so there is some possible redress there

When Fisker announced his - wonderfully designed - car would be built at Magna, I wondered how Magna got their experience in building a state-of-the-art EV in the meantime. Certainly not with a stone-age platform. And hence my - not necessarily correct - conclusion was, if they just used a modified platform of the one they used for the Jag, which could explain why it has not many EV centric advantages (like a frunk). It is basically a beautifully designed shell with some interesting features (to me at last), like the windows and the solar sunroof (which opens, try to find these today - most panoramics are fixed) - but there you are. It is intended to make the car interesting without enough substance.
JAG isKILLING the iPace in 2024, that should tell you.
All OEM carry major debts, Nissan is one of the lowest in the industry.. Also, Cetroen, Lamborghini, ashton martin and many other have file multiple bankruptcy before, and they are all still operating.
Oh ok. So Fisker is actually a sound investment then.

Fisker was screwed when Tesla dropped their price in Jan 2023 so one could get a Y for 15,000 less than the Ocean One or their top model. When I heard about software being incomplete I did not follow through with my purchase. I forfeited my $5000. If Fisker would of dropped the Ocean One to $60,000 I would of purchased it. I have no quarrels with forfeiting my $5000 deposit because I still save money buying a Y long range. Fisker should of taken another $10000 to $15000 loss on each vehicle to sell every vehicle they were making instead of sticking to their price of $70000 for the top version. Now they are going bankrupt.
I believe car makers turn to magna because they are absolutely sure they get the quality they pay for...
I think it is actually a really nice car. Whether it's a car company or not is a bit irrelevant (unless you're an investor I guess) -as someone else mentioned, Apple don't manufacture iPhones but they're still a phone company or are both Apple and Fisker just Tech companies? Doesn't matter. I think they were probably too ambitious with their sales forecasts and their new car developments. It's a shame if it does go under, we need other cool cars apart from Tesla's.
Only EVs with hub motors are truly innovative at the moment.
Those kinds of people you describe in the beginning are the kind of people I detest. That's why I don't like car salesman. Any body starts talking to me in that slick manner my defenses go up and I try to leave as fast as possible.
Munro live stripped down a Fisker and found the motors and electrical system far advanced and better built than Tesler but did question the cost when compared to the car.
Major investor is the Saudi Arabia government , I don't think they will it go bust.
But, remember, John Delorian, dupped the British government to fund his car, rest is history.

Munro never stripped down any Fisker, as far as I am aware Could you be mixing things up with Lucid Motors? It is Lucid, which has a Saudi fund among its main investors...
Perhaps you are thinking of Lucid who are majority owned by the Saudis, but I do not remember Munro stripping apart a Lucid either, but they for sure have not done a Fisker Ocean.

He's not a conman. He was the first to launch a production EV and it was just too ambitious. This one seems to have sunk due to multiple reasons but he didn't try to con anyone.

Sorry Sam, but your opinion on the i-pace is just nonsense. The battery issues were LG's fault, and you most likely have never driven one. I have for many thousands of miles and while it's not particularly efficient or a quick charger, it's immensely fun to drive and has better driveability than 95% of EVs on the market.
You're not doing yourself any favours spewing these kind of biases.

Well Magna Steyr makes many cars - G wagon, BMW/Toyota Z4/Supra, Jaguar, etc. At one point I had both a Saab and BMW that were built at their Austria plant! But the cobbled together Fisker…. Nope
America closes themselves from world good EV companies to boost compition and healthy eco system in the US. Thus Apple and Fisker are not only 2 companies in the US stopping making EVs.

The huge clue was the whole Magna business model where somehow there would be profits to be split after a Magna gets paid for actually building the car. What would be left for Fisker on any case?

For what ever reason, when they could have made huge numbers and sell them they did not. I had money on one for years before finally giving up on them.

The car isn't complete garbage like you are painting the picture to be. While it does have issues there are plenty of positives about it. Sadly starting a car company is expensive and most will fail. My gut feeling says they released this car too early and at the wrong time so it hastened the demise of the company. They never offered a lease like they had promised, They didn't offer great financing until too late, They didn't get that the software release ready, Etc etc etc. I drove the car and really liked it. It had lots of potential, but the software is horrible. Would love to see someone buy the assests and figure out how to salvage it.

I've seen at least 3 in the area north of Dallas TX. One owner did a video and was so excited that software 2.0 would hold on a hill after pressing the brake. Tesla cars have always had hold with one pedal driving and you don't even have to press the brake.

Software has to evolve and Tesla is the best example of making a car better over time - a possibility that might have been taken away from Fisker on their own by simply starting a tad too shitty.

Unless you a good market penetration in the Chinese market, whichever country you go, the ICE manufacturers will try to take you down. There is very little chance of making a foothold unless you are big enough like Tesla or BYD.
It is the un-responsible smart key word "Possible" every new reporter get used to use for avoid liability. Fisker did not publicly said the current seeking partner is Nisan. What happen Apple's Iphone is produced from Hon Hai? that is how Apple can get high profit margin without owning a manufactory. It is not fair just just one's past, let wait to see what happen 4-6 months from now if FSR may go under/total failure.
I had a Karma reservation until the first deliveries started and the reviews came out. I dropped my reservation immediately. Fisker is a great designer, but an awful business man. Henrik gets the simple business principles wrong. 3F to him is Function Follows Form, not Form Follows Function, something that will always fail. Look at the Z8, fantastic looking car, one the most beautiful BMWs ever made, but an awful car to drive, cramped and expensive. The Ocean is a great design, but engineering wise there’s just too much going on. California Mode, Taco Trays, turning screens. All stuff that costs millions to build, support and are utterly useless. The Magna manufacturing outsource model makes sense. As they can build high quality cars, like the Gclass and the Jag. But only at a price. You get from them what you can afford. Hence the Ocean isn’t the best built. And the moment you start falling back on contractual payments, there is nowhere else to go when they stop producing. Also, warranty issues aren’t Magna’s problem, but Fisker’s. The same that killed the Karma and VanMoof. Warranty claims.
FSR 10K tomorrow. Conclusion Sam’s TSLA shares in a bear market, and down today, Sam decides to abuse another competing car maker.

I admit I'm down around 50% on Fisker and ignored the advice, however my stock holding is small and so inconsequential. I might hold and see what happens. At this point it's a roll of the dice.
I actually like the look of the Fisker Ocean.

I think the Fisker Ocean is a pretty decent car and most of the complaints about it are software related, i.e. they could be fixed. But Fisker the person, really does seem to have issues delivering vehicles in an acceptable state and with turning a profit. I wouldn't be surprised if Oceans were being sold below cost due to 3rd party manufacturing and the company goes bankrupt, just like various Fisker iterations before it. Like I said, I think the car is pretty cool. But that's no good if the software is terrible.

Not sure Magnas is culprit for the Jaaaasgg fiasco. Magnas makes great vehicle like the g class and the supra. Who makes the battery pack for the jaaaaagg. In any event, seems than many of the ocean’s problems are software related and that is written by Fiskar.
This is why I cannot buy a bespoke EV from any startup. I really like the Rivian R2 and R3, but with their stock down 90%, who can even be sure they will be here to deliver, much less service them.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. When people start to hear about a company having some difficulties, when Marcus Brownlee kills the car in a review in an unfair manner and when the media echos the negative story, even potential buyers step back and await.
Is the car great? And was the review really unfair?
A bad car makes a bad review, not the reviewer.
Marques might have an amplification factor, but it is not his fault.
@@pan6593Marcus contacted Fisker in order to get a car he could review, but Fisker refused to provide a car until sw release 2.0 had be rolled out, which was a major update and was imminent.
But Marcus pride was insulted, so he contacted a used car dealer from where he got a random car with the old sw. When reviewing it, it was clear that Marcus's ego was hurt and he was on a mission to kill the car. He didn't even made the effort to wash the car, which tells you everything.
I lost all for that guy after that negatively biased review.
The I-Pace is a great car, a bit inefficient, but a lovely car. Unfortunately, they, the manufacturers, decided to buy LG Chem batteries, as did many other EV manufacturers who are all suffering thanks to what appears to be long-term dodgy cell manufacture. You must know this, or you should, and yet you don't seem able to point the blame for the fires straight at the cause. Apologies if you have said the truth before, but coming at this video alone, you're not. Dissapointed TBH.

The stock is quite literally headed to $0.00 there is just no future. Nissan isn't going to invest simply due to the IP or the brand, and Fisker doesn't actually make anything. It's a joke and the boiling water has finally caught up to their executives. It's over.

You even think its funny. We all know that Fisker is a great car. Much better than Tesla in the beginning. This car has a soul. Look at BMW Z8 designed by MR Fisker. That car is a golden nugget today. So promote Fisker instead of just promote Tesla. This is our future. My son drives a new Tesla Model Y and alot of stuff is just crap with that car, still. I like Tesla anyway so you know. So promote the EV future. ❤❤
