Hello! Get your free written pattern on my website Studio Knit www.studioknitsf.com/how-to-knit-a-harry-potter-gryffindor-scarf-free-knitting-pattern/
I'm starting out knitting over winter break and making a Hufflepuff scarf, this was very helpful.
Wonderful! Happy knitting to you, Isabel!
I am knitting a Hufflepuff scarf too!
Isabel Jones My name's Isabel too! :D
Isabel Jones same!😄
Isabel Jones same!
that motivates me to knitt a slytherin scarf! gonna buy green and whiteish XD thanks
Happy knitting...but I feel compelled as a Ravenclaw to point out that I think you meant to say silver, not whitish (no e).
Cora Mullis sadly I did mean to say whiteish. In the only shop around here I can't find silver yarn so I'm stuck with using whiteish greyish or cream yarn ^^;.I know what the colors of my house are XD I'm a slytherin for years now ^^
Oh, that's unfortunate. Are you able to order some silver yarn at all? It might be worth it to wait until you get something you know you'll love. Especially if you are new to knitting, it'll be a big time investment and it'd be terrible if you aren't completely happy with the final product after all that work. If not though, the whitish grey is probably going to be closest.
+CutieLilyNekoPie Yay!!! Have fun & would love to see it!!
Cora Mullis I don't know any shops and my mum alone isn't really fond of getting me yarn. she always says I won't finish it anyway so I'm gonna stick with the closest yarns I can get ^^ I'll be happy enough because I'd be done by myself. thanks for concern anyway
Can I just say how frickin smart that is to knit two together when joining? I wish I'd know that trick like 10 years ago.
This was a beautiful and easy to follow tutorial. Brilliant knitting the scarf in the round 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Seven yarn strands for the fringe representing each of the harry potter books
+Molly Bannon Ha, spoken like a true HP fan!!!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Studio Knit Omg Studio Knit commented on my comment!
And harry potter was the 7th horcrux by mistake
I have now made four scarves using this pattern. Three were gifts. 2-Gryffindor, 1-Hufflepuff and 1-Ravenclaw. Thank you so much for sharing this. You're a gem!
Thank you SO MUCH for this amazing tutorial!!! I just finished my Gryffindor scarf; my first knitting project EVER! The links in the description were so helpful. I am so thrilled to learn more and start my next project!!!! Thank you!!!!
This video was SUPER helpful and I appreciate you taking the time do make it! Can't wait to try out this scarf! Thank you!
the fringe technique is So simple and clever, I love it. I have never knitted in a round needle, but I kinda want to try bc this pattern looks so good.
I started knitting about 3 months ago, and learned so much from you. Thank you for your guidance! When you posted this video, right before Halloween, I knew I needed to make this scarf for my friend. I enjoyed it so much, that I decided to make a Hufflepuff one for myself. They are pretty amazing and will keep our necks warm, in this cold and dark place we call home...Wisconsin!
Easy peasy! Thanks a lot! I'm so excited! I'm a beginner and this is my first circular needle project for my hubby in his favorite colors. If it turns out good (looking like it will), I'm gonna make one for each our kids too.
Wonderful! You may wish to cast on fewer stitches for the little ones, as they don't need it quite so wide... and it'll knit up faster for you! Good luck and have fun! Love your RUclips name!
This is very helpful! I think I'll try to make the base with two regular needles, but adding the tassels was very helpful!! Thank you!
Thanks to this video I just finished my Ravenclaw scarf!! I love studio knit
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! This is exactly what I needed to know for adding fringe because I've been wanting to make a Harry Potter scarf for myself for the longest time! Just need to afford the yarn 😧 But thank you so much for doing this really!
Happy to know my knitting tutorial is helpful to you. Fringe is so fun and easy!
Love this pattern .i made two for Christmas presents.
I would love more Halloween knits

I first bought the wool then figured I'd wing it. Subscribed to you via email and couldn't believe my luck when this pattern came up for free. Thank you so much.
Wonderful, Mel! Enjoy!
I just ordered the same yarn and colors you are using...love Wool Ease!
Awesome! I am already a knitter but have yet to find a good tutorial for a HP scarf that is simple. Thanks so much!!!
+Tara Straubinger Wonderful, so happy this is helpful to you! Enjoy!!!

Thank you so much fo making this
My friend is a huge fan of Harry Potter and I’m trying to get her a teddy bear with the Hufflepuff scarf (for secret Santa) but I figured I can make the scarf and sew it onto the teddy bear. So thank you very much
Thank you for this pattern! While in FL at the Wizarding World of HP I got dozens of compliments on my Gryffindor scarf. I was there in January so I was happy to have a scarf, it was a little chilly.
So cool!!!
Oh my God I love this!!!!
This is an awesome tutorial, thank you! :D
+Chii S Happy you like it!!!
OMG! I just finished a hufflepuff scarf for a friend. I made it considerably longer (almost to the floor long) and made the stripes larger but followed the techniques from your video. Took me 3 weeks and now i can finally give it to him. :D I really uped my knitting game all thanks to your wonderfull videos. Thank you for posting. Can't wait for my next project ♡
Wow, that sounds so cool! Congrats on finishing it!
Great job! I made my daughter in law a Harry Potter scarf last Christmas. I was to lazy to knit it in the round and did 1X1 ribbing to mimick stockinette on both sides. Your version is more authentic I think. Looks good!
Hi, Jeannine! Great to see you again. Thanks so much! Lots of variations on the Harry Potter scarf, and they're always recognizable and put a smile on people's faces!
yess!!! Thank You sooo much for making this videoo!!!
You're so welcome! Love your name!!
This is makes me want to learn how to knit!
I'm looking forward to trying this one. I'm getting married in July and my maid of honour is a huge HP fan (as am I!) This will be a thankyou gift for her (in Slytherin colours of course)
Awesome idea!!! 💖
I love gryffindor she seems really nice I subscribed ☺
Ha, thanks so much for subscribing. You seem very nice, as well!
Thank you so much!!
i want to like this a million times!
Awww... you're so sweet, Heather. I'm guessing you're a bit Harry Potter fan?!?!
My youngest daughter middle name is Hermione :) I absolutely love any and everything Harry Potter
Wow, that is AWESOME! Okay, you're a bonafide fan for sure! So cute!
Thanks for this great tutorial
Glad it was helpful!
I just knit three Gryffindor scarves of your pattern for my grandchildren! I used Wool- ease Cranberry and Gold, too. Thank you! xox 🪄✨
Wonderful, Kathleen! You are so welcome!
ADOREIIIII
I would do this but I already have a Gryffindor scarf my aunt got me for Christmas. She knows that my fave house is Gryffindor and also it is my house. I've taken a lot of quizzes including the Pottermore one. This was fun to watch even if I'm not making it. I also have the Hogwarts badge on mine, just a bit different.
That's awesome. Thanks! :)
Hi, Tanasity. You're welcome! Love your name!
thank you so much! Amazing scarf and video!
+Horny the Clown Thank you!! Happy you liked it!!
You are so welcome!!! Happy knitting to you!
thank you very much!! I like it!!😄😄😄😀 ( and I like your sccissers)
Thanks, Softia! A Potterhead likes this scarf... hooray!
I think I'll make this! I have similar colors, I am a gryffindor. I have a yellow and some thing close to that cranberry color.
I've been selling these for a little while on etsy (different needles sizes and pattern) but I've been going crazy trying to figure out how to hide the color change jog! thank you for this technique!
+Schelly Muphy Awesome, happy I could help!! Best to you on your Etsy sales!!
I’ve been following this tutorial but I’ve been doing the later years scarf but a thing that I’ve been doing without having all those strands to weave in is to not cut off the extra working yarn until the last time you need it. And depending on how big your yarn ball is you can just stick the other ball off yarn inside the scarf to move it out of the way. Just a tip to anyone :)
Definitely going to try this but I might have to wait a few weeks because my round needles are too long.
Nice Scarf💛❤💛❤💛❤💛❤
I'm glad you showed the fringe method with the tapestry needle I lost my krochet hook
Great! Glad it will help you out. 💖
Im make this one for my son christmas present thank you 💞 obrigada ❤
Thank you very much!!! * - *
Ty
I’m gonna start knitting soon! (Just need to ask for a round needle for Christmas lol)
I made a hufflepuff scarf using this and it came out really well
+Shadow Dragon Wonderful!!
Would love a pic!
Like alot. Will link to you my own creation of a Hogwarts scarf, in my house colours of Ravenclaw; using the circular needles technique as my debut. started early in the summer & finished a few weeks back, didn't bothered sew the loose ends from the insides, but had plan of wash scarf by hand. It's now long & cosy and look forward to wear in a chilly London day out. 🤗⚡
It's so pretty, Samantha! Thanks so much for sharing with me!!!
great video! i already have my hufflepuff scarf, buut i want to make a ravenclaw one for my best friend, so thank you for this!
Love this video! This is the time I've ever tried knitting in the round and this was very helpful. Is it possible to carry up the different colors rather than having to weave them in? I know that you have a video on how to carry up too. Thanks :)
please do a video on how to knit a cable knit blanket
Yesssss
Thanks for this. I'm making a Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff scarves.
Hi :) I was wondering if you have made a scarf tutorial on straight needles :)
Would be helpful to know how many skeins or yards of each color needed for scarf
I love this, I’d love to make a Ravenclaw one but I am WAY too impatient for this :(
Another quick question, any tips on how to keep it from curling up at the edges?
OMG THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!
Hi, Grell. You're so welcome. Happy that this Harry Potter scarf pattern excites you. Happy knitting to you!
Studio Knit | you too😊
Fantástico...
Can you explain a little further about changing the colours, and what to do with the yellow yarn once you've moved back to the red yarn and so on?
How long does it take you to make a scarf that long?
Thanjs for this pattern. How much yarn is needed please?
I forgot you can do a scarf in the round 😀Thank you
+Mcshanda 2019 You're so welcome!!! Yes, takes a little longer to finish, but so yummy and cozy!!
Can you give a suggestion for how much yarn is needed?
I was wondering if this would still work with a thicker yarn? I couldn't find any worsted weight yarn from where I live. I'm making a slytherin scarf!
How many cast ons do you recommend for a toddler? Also, can you do an embroidery video? :) thank you!
Are you actually a Gryffindor? I love how your scarf looks! I want to make one, I'm a Ravenclaw
Ha, of course! Awesome, thanks, Freddy!
I'm ravenclaw too
Freddy Chen I'm Ravenclaw as well
I knitted myself a Ravenclaw scarf, in the true house-colours of Dark-Blue & Bronze (well i use a bronzey-Brown), since the summer & finished it a few weeks ago. Am pleased with it. 🤗 Give it a go, fellow Wise & Witty Ravenclaws! 😊
Ravenclaw UNITE!!!!!!!!!
Hi Kristen! I was wondering how many skeins of yarn you used? Just trying to estimate if I have enough to make one for my friend, she's pretty tall
awsome
Hi, Raquel - Thanks!!! Happy knitting to you!
Do you count the cast on row in the 13 rows before changing colors or do you cast on and then do 13 rows?
Hi! I'm planning on making a scarf for my friend who is obsessed with Harry Potter. Would you recommend me to work in the round or use the double stockinette stitch? P.S You are amazing!
question, when you changed colors, did you leave the first color attached or did you cut it?
What's the difference between using a circle needle and just regular ones? (can it be done with regular needles)
Using the same brand of yarn, what would y'all suggest for the other houses?
Nice work. What kind of kniting is it? I know there are many ways to knit and Im notgood enough to see what way youre doing it.
Hello, I really loved this Harry Potter's scarf, but I have a question, is possible that you tell me which are the references of the colors that you used to kint this beautiful scarf? I mean which type of yellow and red, thank you so much :)
Will this still work ok if the needles I have aren’t connected like that? I just have the standard metal needles
hi Studio Knit! i'd like to ask what kind of yarn you used here. thanks! :)
What would happen if you knitted with just the two sticks(lol I call them sticks ) for knitting ? And not in the round. Wousl it all apply the same ?
I'm having trouble with knitting in the round bc my circular needles are too long. Can I work this flat then sew the long sides together?
Is there a way to do this without the tassels?
