these things happen, that's why we prepare and get spares 😄 I wonder why I was advised for a B83 over the B84. As you seen on mine it was a little tight getting it on however there was little adjustment needed on that belt 😄 Great demonstration buddy 👍
I also blew a couple belts on my OS 27. The next time you order a drive belt try the Gates 6986. The guys at my local parts store said it is made for applications where you have a backside idler. So far so good. The belt is obviously wearing in but it hasn't come apart. For what it's worth there's my 2 cents. Wait, with inflation the way it is maybe my thought is worth 4 cents. Ah, now that makes me feel like I'm delivering real value :))
So, to tension the belt you tighten the bold on the lower left? Why did you lose those other bolts? I do not understand what you did to tension the belt.
Hi Jerry It is been a busy summer for me. So I am a bit rusty on following along with you! Regardless now your changing you belt I would like to share with you on a modification I am considering doing and thought to share. I have a lumber mate 2000 and it has the same set up for belting as your frontier. Also the woodland mills have it and several other mills. I was thinking and will get to mine when I get time eliminating the idler pulley and running 2 smaller belts I feel the elimination of the larger belt would give less friction and less bending. Here is the idea if a person gets a double pulley and mounts it up on a 45 degree angle and uses a small belt to go from your wheel where the blade runs on a angle to mock the larger belt then run a additional belt from your motor to the double pulley. I think this set up would let belts last longer as it eliminates the back bending of the larger belt. I hope you can visualize how it would run and would like to know what your thoughts might be on the subject! It would be easier to draw you a picture Maybe I could do a video and post it that way you could have a better idea on how it would run!
I understand what you are saying and that's a great idea. Replace the idler pulley with a double pulley. Little belt to the clutch and a smaller drive belt to the drive wheel. I wonder why they don't do it? I'm guessing that would add cost to the original build they want to keep their costs down
Just had my original belt fail on my OS 27 and of course the first youtube in response to my search is yours ;) Thanks Jerry!
@@peterellis4262 peter, thanks for watching and I'm glad it helped. Have a great one My friend

I only bought B84 because it was on a forum somewhere. I lucked out. I have a replacement on the way.

I definitely will. Thanks for the tip
I just screen shot your suggestion so I'll remember it lol

@@coreyalix you're correct. I loosened those other bolts to move the entire tensioner over. I'm using a B84 instead of a b83.

What’s the name brand you buy b84
I usually buy gates. But have used Napa
Great video... anyone know the idel belt length???
I use a B84 for the drive belt.
How about the smaller belt?
B56. I've never had to replace that one yet. I do have both hanging in the mill shed.
@@BigelowWoodcraftthank you I asked the question before I seen this 💪
@danielmoore7039 no problem. Have a great weekend
