I really appreciate all of the content you've put out so far! We Have our 1st event coming up in a couple weeks , I definitely have enjoyed all of the free information you've given us, thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge! After watching almost all your videos, the only questions I'm left with are: 1) do you accept cash only or also a card for payment?; 2) if you accept POS, at what point did you start accepting it? Right off the bat, or further down the line?; and 3) can you share any knowledge or insight as to which POS works better overall? Thanks again for your content!! It's so very helpful!!
As someone with a freeze dry business- in the very beginning I only took cash. It was a side hustle so I wasn’t concerned and I didn’t do a great job reporting thing to the IRS. But I decided I wanted my business to grow so I did start to take credit cards. The square works well for me. Seems like it’s been able to grow with my business. There are some fees associated w credit cards. If you are still small then maybe try Zelle or Venmo first. You can post your QR code. My local small business office has been amazing free help. They helped me design a website and literally walked me through getting my LLC so I didn’t pay the extra money to Tailor Brands. Anyway, all of that to say maybe your small business office has some suggestions for some starter POS
Just wanted to also mention that once I started taking cards there was a lot less stress at shows for me. We do samples and taking cash was kind of a headache. You don’t want to touch money then food. At the last show the woman next to me had her cash box stollen. So now I’m debating about taking cash at all.
@@pamelachan7004 ah good point! thanks for the info. In the beginning, cash may be the only way for me to go - at least until I get the hang of how everything works. I appreciate your insight!
Great videos with amazing information. One questions, please. Do you print the Kraft Food Bags or your did labels, and where? thank you very much for your time
I am looking for video regarding settings for Peach Rings. Would you have the settings to start with when freeze drying. I have tried gummy sour worms but not sure what setting I am not running long enough? They look puffed up till I open vacuum line. They sink in and get chewy. Thank you in advance if yoou can help
How does using a church or other kitchen help in licensing if you’re having to use your freeze dryer at home? Would it not have to be in the kitchen also?
The church might hav a kitchen that is licensed commercially with your state or health department so you could rent that out and then you meet the requirements for being able to sell wholesale versus you can’t sell wholesale under cottage food laws which is would be through you home. Some states allow for a commercial kitchen to be on your property as long as it’s separate from your main home so like a shop or shed
We are struggling to nail down this freeze dry Candy gig... peach rings, blue Raspberry Rings, watermelon rings, and gummy items... we can't seem to find the right setting especially with the new software for candy mode on harvest right.
Here are several freeze-dryers I would recommend considering them for your existing freeze-dried business or just starting out. Websites vary in price but I'd take a look at Wix for a free version or Shopify if you want to sell online. Shopify starts at $29/month I believe. - Harvest Right Freeze Dryers - affiliates.harvestright.com/1974.html - StayFresh Freeze Dry - stayfreshfreezedry.com/?sca_ref=3292008.4uBi4MIG3W&sca_source=RUclips
I was nervous investing so we started with a small freeze dryer. That was a mistake- get the biggest one you can afford financially and space wise. Our small one is always going and we just can’t keep up. The bag, labels, and silica for us is about 60 cents a bag. We stock up on sales like prime day. And use clearance Christmas candy for Valentine’s Day and st Patrick’s day. And if you do go into business keep a calendar w everything related- show info and trips to the store etc. makes tax time so much easier.
Harvest Right Large is what I would recommend starting out for a new business. Use my referral link to take look at their freeze dryers: affiliates.harvestright.com/1974.html
I use the Large Harvest Right Freeze Dryers although there are other manufacturers now like StayFresh and The Cube by Prep4Life. I've been satisfied with Harvest Right, there are technical issues at times but it's the same as any major appliance like a refrigerator or washing machine. Things break and you have to fix it and sometimes it's within warranty and other times not. Just know that the majority of the time it works and it will pay you back quickly if you are running it as a business. If you do end up buying, purchase online through my referral link so they know I referred you: affiliates.harvestright.com/1974.html. Thank you!

Thank you so very much. should I start first by getting a business license first? or start with cottage food laws class a application?
Cottage food law is your fastest ticket to start and test your business in your local market
Check to see if your county has a small business office. They can be a great local resource.

Peach Rings are inconsistent but I usually do 140 degrees for 6 hours. Top and bottom trays of the Large Harvest Right won't do as well
@@freezedriedbusiness Thank you very much I absolutely appreciate your content. Thank you for your reply
Would the church or school allow you to keep the freeze drier onsite, not be tampered with?
That's something to ask when you approach these facilities, it's usually not a problem.

The gummy rings you listed will always be inconsistent, I avoid them.
Way to really help out. ???
erikasyverson1454, I guess find more videos
Hey have a question do I warm trays for gummies or no and should I refrigerate them before freeze drying
Gummies should do fine without warming the trays, just put them in the FD and let it run for 2-3 hours.
Can't thumbs up! But thumbs up to you 👍
Much appreciated!
How much is the freeze dryer and how much is the website and packaging

Do you register your freeze dried food with the FDA
Not at my size
@@freezedriedbusiness What size would you need to be before you would look into registering?
would a stainless steel Table 60L x 24W x36H. work for the Large freeze dryer
I’d check with someone at Harvest Right about that
What is a good freeze dryer to use as a start up?
