It is critical to conduct a local area business analysis. I recently was at a crafter's festival. The festival had over 100 vendors, but 5 of them were selling freeze dried candy .
It's important to remember that you will need a special plug/electrical adaptation if you get a L or XL Harvest Right. That's an extra cost, and not available if you're renting.
Yes it is. I'm a landlord a d if any of my tenants asked for a plug I would send my electrician by and they would pay him. Nothing out of my pocket and I know it's done right. It stays when you leave.
Just got ours set up yesterday! Running the burn test now. Watching your videos has helped ease my nerves about starting! Love that you're also in Idaho as well!
Hey big guy! You inspired me to do the final push. I left the energy sector and just started on my path of entrepreneurship with my own freeze-dried candy business! Harvest Right is the booommmmbbbb! Lol. Now that I switched my account, I am looking to get into more online and social media. I.E. Facebook, Instagram, tiktok, for starters. Hats off and keep up the great work!
Thanks David! I have a special needs daughter who finally is in school but its not enough time away for me to work a full time job. I have been looking for ways to make a bit of extra money to help with what the wife brings in. She had the more lucrative and stable career which means my college debt is still being worked on lol. The main thing for me is I already bought a freeze dryer and aside for myself I know other people who want one but cannot afford it. I was looking at ways to perhaps make this a financial helper and this might be it. Keep up the great work!
Hello sir, I am from India(small town - kolhapur). Thank you sir for sharing info about freeze dried business. I am doing market survey about freeze dried to start my own business . I want to make freeze dried some healthy juices or soups. Thank you ,your videos help me so much .
My wife and myself are just getting into the freeze dried business. We’re working out our prices and we’re just curious how you typically ship your product? what have you found as the cheapest shipping option? Thank you for all your informative videos they’ve been a big help.
Awesome! I use Shopify and then PirateShip for my shipping methods. If you want some additional consulting, feel free to email me (email and website is located in the channel links).
I have people asking me to run their herbs/veggies (already cut up) and then package it for them. I have no clue how much to charge them. And ideas that could help me.
Cover your electricity and multiple by 2 (Ex. $5 per cycle x 2 = $10) and then have a fee to freeze dry it in general, let's say $30. Then it's purely a rental of the machine and handling their food. I would then have them package it themselves as I wouldn't want the liability of packaging something that they want for long term use and it not turn out that way.
Very insightful! Thanks! Do you include an oxygen absorber/silica packet in every small sized pack, or just in the large ones ? I’m a bit concerned about putting one and they get eaten by mistake by kids
I love your videos, watch you all the time when needing info on freeze drying, but today I'm needing info on selling freeze dried candy at a vendor activity which they tell me i need a license or permit of some sort, they are very vague on what and where to access either! I've been looking on line, but I'm confused on which to choose, "food handler or resale, or what, I'm just trying to start out and have nothing big right now,. I'm in California, do you by chance have any advice or recommendations?
I like both machines but you were starting a business I’d get the XL from Harvest Right because it’s the only affordable freeze dryer that that do close to 40 pounds on the market. The large size is sufficient as well for both HR and SF. Links to both are in video description!
I use a local insurance company myself that provides coverage on my equipment and other assets. I'm not sure about covering the freeze-dried products but that's a great question.
oh sorry, forgot to ask, noise. is this too loud to have in my apt? will neighbors complain? does it have an exhaust?...can I just cover it up in a big box to contain noise?
The noise is for the machine is like a refrigeration hum but the pump creates the most noise. The premium pump that comes with it is not that loud: affiliates.harvestright.com/1974.html. If you are on the bottom floor of your apartment I don't see an issue with the noise. You could make a big box with some noise canceling foam if you wanted.

Great point! That is definitely something to research and then decide how you will compete or make something different to stand out
Is 5 vendors a lot? I’m in contact with my cottage food health rep and I’m starting to conduct market research.
Can you do a video on pricing candy and the size of bags?

Not sure if this is a stupid question or not but where do you get your nutritional facts from? Just the back of the food packages it comes in?
Not a stupid question! Yep! Straight from the back of the package!
Very interesting video.
Glad you think so!
Do you have a supplier for disposable plastic cups to use for packaging?

Hey, are there any issues related to lack of venting? I heard there can be toxic, corrosive, and dangerous affexts if not properly vented.
Not that I’m aware of
Does anyone know of an insurance agency that provides insurance for individuals selling freeze dried products online?
I use a local insurance company myself that provides coverage on my equipment and other assets. I'm not sure about covering the freeze-dried products but that's a great question.
About how long does your candy last once you put it in the kraft bags?
3-6 months
Thats great! I would have expected about a week or two. Thanks!
How long does the fruit last/which packaging do you use? ps love all the content!

Do you know of any co packing companies for freeze dried candy?😊
Not that I know of, I've heard Trendy Treats does. They have have a large following on TikTok and RUclips.
Would you be able to share your Google docs spreadsheet?
At some point yes, I'm working on how I will release it
I got a medium shoot
That's okay, next one get something larger once you start out-growing the medium. Good luck!
👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Can’t stop looking at his eyes
When you say 20lbs is that a day a week. Could you be more clear like you are talking to a person who knows absolutely nothibf
20lbs is what some machines say you could do in the large freezer at one time, that could take 2-3 days to freeze dry
