Welcome to the rabbit hole that is VoicePlay! They are so, so good. I think you might really like Seven Nation Army. And there are two songs with both Geoff Castellucci (VP's bass) and Tim Foust in there. "Just Sing" -- filmed in separate locations during quarantine -- but watch with closed captions on because there is a _LOT_ of info in there and a ton of guest vocalists. Then there's "Hillbillies vs. Zombies" which is about 10 years old, from the year Home Free and VoicePlay were both on the Sing-Off. That one's really fun.

Voiceplay are amazingly talented. Independent so they do everything themselves from concept to RUclips and beyond.
They are known as both The Theater Kids of Acapella and The Kings of Halloween because of their love of dressing up and performing.
They all used to perform at either Disney World and/or Universal Studios Orlando. They do various concerts at Disney World from time to time.
Last month they were in a 2 day concert with the group Chicago. They got to sing several songs with them. It was amazing.
    Left to right outside.....
Layne Stein - beatboxer, baritone, arrangements.
Cesar De La Rosa- baritone, tenor (replaced J None)..
J None- former member, guest, baritone.
Eli (like jelly) Jacobson - tenor, rock tenor, lighting, arrangements.
Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - bass, arrangements.
J None left in 2021 to sing with the US Navy choir. He comes back as often as he can to sing with Voiceplay.
Voiceplay has been through alot of changes through the years but constant has been Geoff, Layne and Eli. There are only 4 at this time so they collaborate with various artists for the 5th. So depending on the song and time is who is in the video.
Geoff has his own channel where he sings solo with instruments. He clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. Each with their own name and personality.... Jeff, Jeoph, Goff and Daryl. He usually has 3 in the videos with him except when he is doing solo as in "Sound of Silence" and "Jack's Lament".
    A suggestion....
Play the their videos all the way to the end with the credits. These are a rolling list thanking most of their Patreons.
Especially with Geoff's. As of February this year besides the rolling thank yous he does a little thank you speech to everyone else, a shout out to his highest tier Patreons and a little behind the scenes of the video.
A few of recommendations for Voiceplay....
Drunken Sailors. Butter. Dragonborn Comes. Christmas Don't Be Late. Hide And Seek (Ding Dong).
Geoff (bsides the 2 i already suggested)....
Aint No Sunshine. Ghost Riders In The Sky. Rains of Castemere. Way Down.
Both have a whole bunch of other videos to choose from. Voiceplay going waaaay back many many years.
Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole 🐰

The backdrops, creative design, video, editing were all the work of the tenor, Eli Jacobson (Eli pronounced like jelly). The arrangement was done by Layne Stein, the beatbox.

I always love seeing someone discover VoicePlay! They are truly incredible. Every cover is amazing. But if you like sea shanties, Hoist the Colours is one of my favorites. Some more favorites that you might enjoy: Nothing Else Matters, In The Air Tonight, Seven Nation Army, Dream On. But if you want to browse their catalog and just pick something you won’t be disappointed. Geoff Castelucci is the bass and he has his own bass cover channel where he clones himself and does the harmonies. Definitely worth checking out if you love bass voices! Probably my favorite of his is House of The Rising Sun or I see Fire. ❤

Well, you have reacted to "Creep" arranged by Eli and now "Valhalla Calling" arranged by Layne now you may want to check out one arranged by Geoff maybe "The Dragonborn Comes Skyrim" or "Drunken Sailor" (for their fun side) both theatrical or the heartbreaking "I Can't Make You Love Me" or uplifting "The Bones" they have plenty to choose from in almost any genre.

Geoff and Tim have sung together when both groups were on the Sing Off tour together. And Tim appeared in VoicePlay’s video Just Sing that was done for charity during the pandemic. If you react to that one, be sure to have the captions on. They introduce many people that they had worked with (and one they’ve worked with since then.)

I like that they have J staring out across the water at the beginning. He’s been away (in the US Navy) and now he’s come back (at least for this). The rap was added and some hints to his being in the military (ops, etc). I just love that while he’s rapping in the background you can hear the guys singing “This is WAR”. It always gives me chills. Other commenters with Scandinavian roots have pointed out that the rap is not much of a reach as flyting became a part of Nordic cultures by the 19th century. It’s a extremely spirited contest of verbal assaults.
Previously they did a cover of My Mother Told Me (also associated with the video game Assassin’s Creed). J was still a permanent member of the group. The makeup and a lot of the costuming is from MMTM. Among their tattoos are runes spelling out VoicePlay. Cesar was not yet a member of the group. Jose Rosario Jr was the guest artist. Cesar is wearing the same robe that Jose wore in My Mother Told Me.
Layne (beatboxer ) did the arrangement and Eli (bald rock god) the amazing backgrounds using Unreal Engine which is used in filmmaking and video games to provide digital backgrounds. The only real pieces in that set are the tables and benches. Even the door that J walks through was pure CGI. He was standing in front of a screen and the background opened for him. Layne was responsible for the creaking door sound.. It was filmed, not green screen, but at a studio with immense (Full wall!) LED screens.

Just for info - I think the version you more probably have heard before was by Miracle of Sound (who wrote the song). There are several versions by him. Some with Peyton Parish and at least one with Eric Holloway (deep base). By quantity of versions and time around, one of those versions is more likely to have turned up before. BTW - Miracle of Sound liked VoicePlay's version so well as to post a comment giving them 10 out of 10 'Raised Alehorns' for it.
Also - a reminder - you HAVE seen VoicePlay before. You reacted to their cover of "Creep". It is VERY different from this one so I can understand not recognizing them, but I wanted to remind you so you can see just how varied they can be!

Miracle of Sound has three versions of this song out that I've seen: one solo, one with Peyton Parrish, and one with Peyton Parrish and Eric Hollaway. (Wait 'til you hear Mr. Hollaway's bass! He could put Geoff and Tim to shame.) Peyton Parrish also has a solo video of this song.

VoicePlay #TheatreKidsOfACapella and Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci are #1 on my list. Home Free and Tim Foust are #2. Go Pirates next with their cover of Hoist The Colours. Then there are game theme songs from HALO, or The Dragonborn Comes / Skyrim.

Great reaction! The sister song to Valhalla Calling Me is "Hoist the Colours" from Pirates of the Caribbean. It is just as good. Also, Geoff Castellucci (the bass) does his own stuff and it's all great as well. Check out his versions of House of the Rising Sun, Take Me Home Country Roads and Man of Constant Sorrow. All fantastic!

Well VoicePlay and Home Free have done Survivor: Zombies vs Hillbillies, and Tim Foust had a highlight from VoicePlay's Covid song - Just Sing where most of the previous VP members, guest singers, friends showed up via Zoom so they could make music despite not going out. This group is amazing. Geoff is the bass, Layne is the beat boxer, Cesar is the guy with the golden tattoo on his face and is a baritone/tenor, Eli (rhymes with jelly) is the bald fellow and is high tenor also known as the Rock God. J None used to be a member but he got recruited for the US Navy chorus a couple of years ago. When he gets a chance he comes down from DC to Orlando to participate in VoicePlay's newest. He does a great rap.

"What happens if Him, Avi and Tim Foust get together?" There is a consensus that they should not ALL get together because the low frequency vibrations might crash the entire US electrical grid. 🤣 Welcome to VoicePlay! Of the major 3 a cappella groups, VoicePlay is the most "theatrical." All three are superb! There is no BEST (my opinion) but most have their favorite based on personal preference. I was FIRST introduced to modern a cappella with Pentatonix back about 10 years ago. I always loved barbershop (a dying genre), but these three take a cappella to a completely new (higher) level. You can still hear barbershop harmony 'roots' in much of the work these three groups do, but barbershop NEVER sounded like THIS!! Great reaction!

Dude, you should totally check out. The dragon born comes by voice play. The vocal gymnastics is incredible. Also, in the fantasy genre, you should check out hoisted the colors. Again, it's absolutely incredible. This particular video has a prequel, which my mother told me.
And if you like base, then their base singer, geoff castellucci, has his own solo channel that you should totally check out. Over the misty mountains cold, isee fire, and the reigns of castamere Pop out at me as far as recommendations. He shows off his vocal range, and it is unbelievable.
