I attended a hair locking conference in NYC many years ago. I was advised to twist two locks together over my entire head. They grew stronger , longer & thicker and I never lost any a single lock. Also we were advised not to use any product with petroleum jelly in it. No shea butter or jell either, just oils. I kept my locks for 12 years! They got so long & heavy that I used to cut off 3 inches at a time! They also were heavy & gave me headaches. They were also hot in the summer. I still have them and am considering reattachment or maybe starting new ones. My hair is very normal 4C , not extremely thick or thin. Hope this info is helpful.
I’ve seen where a RUclipsr tied it in little knots very close together and then palm rolled it and you could barely tell the difference just saying that could be an option lol love your locs thanks for sharing
I’ve always loved your locks, but I have to Agee with a comment saying bleach may be the cause to the thinning. I have to Agee, here as I have had locks for over 20 yrs, and most of them years no dyeing, bleaching etc. My locks have always been strong over them years until bleach came in. My locks now, thin out in parts, never before this happened. Bleaching has always had a negative view, but by experience, I now have to agree. I would advice not to use bleach, if you want to lighten your locks go for a more gentle natural lighter, otherwise this will be a long life battle, and cause your locks to break and grow slow. You are beautiful all the same ❤️
Yup, I made this video to show the whole process in this blonde journey and be transparent to anyone who is also thinking of coloring their hair. I've been coloring my hair for over 6 years now, so thinning is expected. However, I'm in it for the long haul, so you'll still find me in my lil corner mixing my bleach + developer 🤣 Just wanted to show to those who wanted a "summer color" that the damage will last beyond #hotgirlsummaaa
Braidlocs definitely like to thank you for sharing, as I’m not that brave. I have to agree also that even knowing that this can damage you locks, it’s nice to have them lightened. I have started to use a less damaging lightener called herbatint. My locks are less dry and damaged now, roots that is, as I’m like you, I love the blonde look, but I wanted to cause less damage while doing so. Thank you again for all your great videos, always a enjoy❤️😀
I always have locs that are thinning. In the past I blamed it on dye, but since I stopped dying my hair I now mostly blame it on tying my hair up/styling it all the time. What can one do? Some of us like some change whether we dye it or style it........ and then it is exhausting to try and re-attach pieces of your locs all the time, so I am in a phase of letting go.
I know! I feel the same way. I think I have started acknowledging that locs naturally get thin no matter what. I mean, can we realistically expect them to just stay perfectly cylindrical forever without any shedding? Do we react as intensely (with loose natural hair) when we finish detangling and there's literally a whole handful of hair in the brush? Why do we freak out when one loc gets weak and doesn't wanna stay for the ride anymore? I'm with you on letting go. If one or a couple start thinning, I snip and move on!
Your response makes sooo much sense! It's literally the same if we'd had the loose natural hair & we freak out then at times so I'm convinced as well that locs are just sometimes gonna thin. Cut it, reattach or cut it & move on!
@@Braidlocs I appreciate your transparency. I want to color my locs but I know how drying dye can be on your hair. BUT....I'm ready for a change so as soon as I get the ok, I'm gonna do it! I want a pretty copper color. 😊
This is a good video; i must admit, I cringed when you cut those locs; I have several that i had to snip and thank goodness I saved them. I think this can work for me, thanks!
I know I am a couple of years late to this video but in reading many of the comments I think I am going to try the knot and palm roll and then I can if it’s the not is being seen I will use some of my broken pieces to try to just weaving into that area so the knot won’t been seen. To me my head looks a mess because there are so many broken locks over the years I just have kept them something wouldn’t let me throw them away but I am like I sister who said she is ready to let go but I’m not ready to let go. I have been growing my locks for over 25 years and they are down to my behind now but my hair no longer looks full because of the lost looks. I like this idea as well as the small knot idea so I am armed with more options. Thanks you.
so recently, I actually went back in and used a scissors to cut the knot out and then just sew the two pieces together with a thread color that matches my hair. it actually looks a lot smoother. so now, anytime I see a weak spot, I just cut it with scissors and use a needle and thread to sew the two pieces together. I think it creates a stronger fusion than the knot, especially in locs that are smaller in thickness. good luck on your journey!!
I love to lighten my hair but lately my Locs like five that fell off try my best to get self-help and see what other people are doing I will not be lightning in my hair anymore
If anyone ONLY came for the reattachment, she starts at 6:30.
😂 thank you so much
Fast forwarded it asap
Maaannn.. I had to fast forward.. 😂😂😂 like dang.. she talked entirely too long🤦🏽♀️😂
Thank you so much!!
You’re the G.O.A.T. 💯

Save them and have them reattached they are beautiful

Jeanette blessed yes, I have used this method, works very well if you want to save your loc👍🏽
I've done the same on a few of mine. I don't cute them. I just loop my loc and tie the knot over the week spot.
The instructions start at 6:05. Thank you, and you're welcome! 😊
Very helpful. I also cut my weak locks but keep them and have been looking for a technique to reattach. Thanks 😊

Do you think the color has weakened your locs?
Its Sonya yes
It's defo d bleach
Yup, it has and I knew this when I was choosing to go lighter. Just wanted to show y'all the whole process in this blonde journey!

@@ItsSonya94 🤦🏾♀️
Thanks Queen!!! You just saved my son's loc!!!❤❤
😮your locs look overprocessed, could it be from the bleaching?
Nice!🤩 Where do you learn all these methods of reattachment?
I search the interweblings for y'all and demo it on my head 🤣
This is so helpful, thank you so much for sharing. I truly appreciate it. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I’ve had some I had to let go. But you could always reattach. Love your hair color!
comes with the coloring territory 🤷🏾♀️

Reattach 6:40
Thank you, I was about to turn this off...
@@kingofdragons5932 Haha! I hate when they do all that talking. Just GET TO THE POINT!
Did it stay after you washed it?

Thank you anything to make it easier…now all I need to do is find gray thread to match my gray hair.
it's surprisingly easy to find! try target. I got my thread from their sewing aisle. or like a craft store.
that bump will later causing weight then breakage as well right
😭 I needed this my locks are doing the same thing. Thank you so much
I love to lighten my hair but lately my Locs like five that fell off try my best to get self-help and see what other people are doing I will not be lightning in my hair anymore
Mine got very thin and one just fell off when I tied a du rag on it was only one lock tho it was my front lock but imma be getting it re attached
Sistren! Can we talk about how gorgeous you are? Gorgeous locs too.
I’m attaching from the root but I feel I have enough hair to do this method. I’ll come back with update on how it went.
Gonna have to try that. My hair detaching at the front of mt scalp though. Thinking of cutting them off. 😒😪
Crown her😭🙌🏿👑needed dis so bad
Very helpful
Did the reattached locs stay put? Update?
one of the braided loc came loose when I washed my hair. I think sewing them together is better for the long run!
This is genius!
Thank you so much
Think mine is too thick I don’t know if it will work trying to attach it back it’s like it’s gone lol I can try to use thread
yes, if it's thick, you should try a thread. Or you can also try a crochet needle. I have a video on how to use a crochet needle to reattach!
@@Braidlocs I need to see that video
Awesome girl. I tried it. It works
My problem is when I reattach, they always seem to fall out when I wash my hair 😢
I like sewing mine.
Went to reattach my locks the day at a salon with the needle.. The night went for a swim and lost four locks😩
time to get that money back!
Hello....
I was wondering where did you get your Locs from?
Her scalp lol
Beautiful locs! Reattach them! ❤❤❤
I needed this so bad in 2016 🤦🏽♂️😭
I have a few like this!!! omg it’s crazy.
I hate losing some length but they gotta go.
Thank you this helped me a lot
Your locs are beautiful
Instead of cutting them just put knots in the thin spots
The bleach is killing your locs
