    What is it that makes us human? Is it that we love, that we fight ? That we laugh ? Cry ? Our curiosity ? The quest for discovery ?
    Driven by these questions, filmmaker and artist Yann Arthus-Bertrand spent three years collecting real-life stories from 2,000 women and men in 60 countries. Working with a dedicated team of translators, journalists and cameramen, Yann captures deeply personal and emotional accounts of topics that unite us all; struggles with poverty, war, homophobia, and the future of our planet mixed with moments of love and happiness.
    The VOL.2 deals with the themes of love, women, work and poverty.

    Let all people of the Earth see these films, let them be shown in all schools all over the world and then, hopefully, we can all meet in love and peace and work together to clean up our planet and share the food there is for all of us. Thank you for this wonderful film. I hope it will do wonders!

      +Helga Danielsen You know Helga we all have the choice not to go to war. Do you know why these people choose war as a job? Money. Nothing has changed people still make money off war it';s just that now these people are a minority and when they want to live a normal life in society they can't adapt because they chose a bad way to make money. That's not a video that inspires me peace. The film is called human, well you can ask citizens who live in those countries about what they think of the people in this film and they'll tell you that these are not humans they're monsters. Trust me.

    It's 3 in the morning and I should be sleeping so I can work tomorrow. I think of my self as poor most of the time but some of these people make me feel SOOOO wealthy by comparison. I am grateful for my work, my life. Sometimes it's lonely and sometimes it's just fulfilling to contribute something. But I have to watch this 2nd volume of Human. What a bizarre species we are. Not quite animal, not quite divine but somewhere in between with shades of both showing all the time. Beautiful.

    I was so shocked when the first women spoke because I actually understood her without reading the subtitles because she spoke khmer, the language of Cambodia, and the language of my parents, and I've heard variations of her story my whole life but I never expected to listen to hers here. She spoke of the Cambodian Genocide, one of the worst atrocities in history, yet, this is the first time I have ever encountered someone's recollection of this event somewhere other than a family gathering with a couple shots of rice wine for courage. To include her story is to encompass the entire Cambodian experience as a whole and the struggles of the Cambodian people, and I find that to be an amazing thing, finally there's some recognition and some sort of closure. This documentary, "HUMAN", is truly an amazing thing, truly amazing, and I'd like to say thank you to everyone behind this film for thinking of the tiny stretch of jungle that is Cambodia, and for allowing one of us to talk about our experience in the event that still today, defines our entire existence.

      +obed wiredu I do not think the movies are about just one thing. What I think is that these movies are about all we have in life, good or bad. Not what the governments or militia do to us, but how we as humans get through those things, and the effects that they have on our lives. Whether you've been through being abused, raped or poverty. it is about how we've become stronger through these things and I believe that it touches on most subjects that need to be discussed and in such a beautiful way. (I'm just sharing my opinion and i'm probably not going to respond to anyone disagreeing with me I just hope you at least read this before thinking it's just wrong)

      ***** your perspective is limited by what you believe. Your perspective is coming from the belief that white people are the superior race. At this moment in the untold millions of years of human history, this may appear to be true based on the results. But if you were suppressed for millions of years and finally figured out how to get into a position of power, wouldn't you then suppress the history of the great races and civilizations in order to put yourself in the position of god on earth?
      Not saying I would do that but people with your perspective would. If you open your mind to the possibility that there are millions of years of human history that has been lost, then any rational mind would find that the "superior" race has changed countless times in millions of years.
      I am not defending any race, I believe all humans are human. Pyramids have been found on every continent. This means every race at one point had superior knowledge, and possibly it was simultaneous, which I tend to believe. European/west asian "white" people are not superior biologically, mentally or spiritually. It just so happens that they are the ones currently appearing to run the show.
      Im not trying to bash your beliefs about superiority, I believe you are entitled to your beliefs. If you spent 3 hours of your life watching a movie about the diversity in the human experience then a part of you must understand what I am saying.

      Complete Human Coaching I am really sorry to tell you, that i do not feel inferior towards nobody and plus, I've never felt.
      Going back to your thought, there are not doubts that the "white man" has ruled the scenario over the years, but what keeps me laughing is your belief in thinking there are people not caring of this ethnic rather racial status.
      I simply do not care and you should as well.

"To remind them that I exist-that I am omnipresent; in the leaves and in the wind." To show us how to be strong through love. How in the end it is what really matters and what shall set all humanity free from it's pain and sorrow. What words of power.

      That is a very nice sentiment indeed.
      But isn't it cruel to let somebody believe that his life is a construction made by God, that he was put in this terrible situation just to provide some kind of symbolism? It could just as easily have been a punishment for some terrible sin he committed earlier in life.
      It would be better for him to accept that random chance combined with life choices put him in this situation. That way others could learn from him and perhaps prevent this from happening again. Believing his life was shaped and should not be changed is holding him back. It's a trap.

    • @claraaralc
      @claraaralc 7 лет назад +4

      @98Zai If he was born mentally handicapped, how can you say that it's a punishment? His father is right in telling him that the Lord created him, just like the leaves and flowers, to make up the happiness in the world. Rather that than tell him it's a punishment; not holding him back but pushing him forward.

    • @shannongillespie1689
      @shannongillespie1689 7 лет назад +6

      98Zai His tears were of gratitude. His son's physical limitatons are only physical. The father has faith brought about from the deepest part of him knowing beyond any doubt that his son is perfect. He has a direct experience with the divine as a result of his son being a crystal clear mirror of his own loving nature. His son is proof of an existance that completely transcends this temporary third dimensional gravity weary experience that we all find ourselves in momentarily. It may seem like a misfortune to be a parent to a disabled child, but all is not what it seems. Old souls love a challenge and this life is our smorghasborg. Yumyum

    These films are among the most moving and beautiful works that I have ever seen. They are breathtaking & the words of people from all over our planet need to be heard by everyone; whether you agree with some or not, just listen to them & learn from their experiences. Even those of the children are filled with tremendous wisdom. Seeing or recognizing parts of yourself in all of these people is one of the only ways humanity can hope to go forward. We cannot continue on the path we are on.

    Hey folks! At 52:39 to 53:54 it is Lençóis Maranhenses, located in Brazil (state of Maranhão). It is a natural desert with white and clean sand and lots of sweet water lakes all around. Very touristic and magical place. By far as I know it is the one desert in the world with so many water lakes like that. It is very touristic. But as summer in Brazil is in december to february, the cheaper time to come is august to november. (Brazil is sunny practically all year).

    For those of you who keep saying that the man at 22:00 is a psychopath - tell me, is any of you a psychologist or a psychiatrist? If so, did you have any sessions with this man so you may so freely diagnose him? If not, please refrain from posting such things. Peter had the courage to speak openly about his problem, and imagine if he comes here - because yes, he might come here to RUclips to see this, after all he's a person like you and me, and this documentary pretty much emphasizes that - and reads these things. It might be very destructive. Please think about that.

      Yann Arthus-Bertrand is one type of men... Plus when you listen to them, you see that they have a modesty and a certain understanding of how human their stories are... They shared it because its at the heart of human experience to share to be stronger together. Accepting to share your fears and experiences may bring you peace because suddenly you're not the only one and people can relate :)

    This documentary series is amazing. Haven't gone on to part three yet but I must say the Religious/God section is disappointing :/ Only weak spot I've seen so far. It could've have been epic and really intriguing to hear various peoples relationship with their God/Religion or lack thereof.
    Seeing the beautiful cinematography of Hajj and Maria of the Sea to only have a brief section where one guy even mentions possibly believing in God was a total bummer....
    But anyways, thank you for putting this on RUclips and for all the hard work you put into this project. All of us viewers really appreciate it!!

    This is so deeply moving. I wish all schools around the world will see this documentary. It is so easy to remember we are all human, we just need a small reminder, one honest sharing from the heart and all other hearts melt in harmony. We are all made of the stuff called love, but politicians and religious leaders poison us creating hate towards each other. I am very grateful to the creators of this project. If you were asked what you leave behind when you are gone - you should be proud! You leave this documentary filled with humans who were listened to and opened their heart.
