Its not that bad, and not that far from being a competent repeatable swing. His second shot was very good contact; hitting ball first, and the ball hitting square on the clubface and went straight where he was aiming. His upper body on his takeaway was nearly textbook. He should narrow his stance, concentrate on using his trail leg to brace his rotation so as to cut down on his sway. Slow down the speed of his takeaway and transition. He should also loosen up - he is standing over the ball for seconds trying to tamp down feelings of uncertainty and fear, and trying like hell to stop the feeling of despair slowing enveloping his body. He should step back take a couple of easy practice swings, then step up, exhale, and swing away. If only it was that easy.... lol.
Everything you said, but no one has mentioned in other comments.. he never shifts his weight to his front foot. His weight is all on his back foot. He's leaning backwards away from his target on finish.
As a professional caddie the thing I hate the most is how long it takes him to hit the shitty shots!!!! I have no problem with bad golfers love them they usually are the funnest people to carry for, it's guys who take thirty seconds to hit a bad shot that drives me nuts!!
Yeah, Charles Barkley was on another level. I mean, when you've got Hank Kuehne at your disposal and you still can't improve drastically, it's time to hang it up. He better thank his lucky stars that basketball came naturally for him.
I worked as part of a grounds crew on a golf course in the early 70s, and there was a golfer whom I think had the worst swing of all time. He'd set up in a normal stance, and then move his feet around until his back nearly faced the target. Then he chopped down on the ball like he was pounding in a stake with a sledgehammer. He usually sent the ball skittering along the ground. Rarely was it airborne any higher that a few feet, even with a wedge. The guy was a retired lawyer from New York City, and he had a tremendous sense of humor regarding his highly unorthodox swing. He once told me that his swing was the result of "taking too many golf lessons". He actually looked a bit like Bobby Locke, the great South African golfer. In spite of how poorly the guy swung the club and played, I golfed with him a few times and really enjoyed his company. I just made it a point not to watch him too carefully.
I learned the game by going to the range, taking lessons, putting greens and developing some sort of ability to be able to play on a real golf course before I did. There is an etiquette of keeping up with the pace of play, which a lot of these people can't do. These are the same people who talk throughout swings and stomp on your line.
@@nouarkansas9386 nothing with having fun with your buddies, but you also realize you’re ruining the day for the 5-7 or more groups behind you? And if your answer is that you don’t care, then golf isn’t for you.
Good balance, good posture, head over the ball. But contact was poor, and distance was lacking. On the other hand, there are a lot of positives to work with.
i think all the slow motion golf videos and evolution of technique today have improved any interested amateur. in my day this guy was doing pretty well !
You're the kind of player that would like to prevent anyone from learning the game. Expect everyone to just be a stud pro like you (sarcasm) and hit perfect shots every time without concentrating or spending any time practicing the shot. Not all golfers are douches, folks. Don't let shakester discourage you from playing.
News Flash. If you presently suck or are even marginal at golf and stand over the ball for 15 seconds like this guy, stop. If you're good and stand, whatever. Standing over the ball is a bad habit that hurts many peoples game and annoys the people you're playing with. This guy stood over the first shot for 15 seconds just so he could stand up at impact. Nice routine.
Look down? No. Annoyed by them? Absolutely. I've been behind some of the worst golfers, but they kept a normal pace of play. I have no problems with that at all. To watch someone stand over their ball for 3 minutes taking 20 practice swings, then getting up thee just to flub a ball 20 yards and do it all over again 5 time during one hole can get a bit annoying.
I've seen far worse ... I once played with a fella who at one stage of the ordeal, made eleven (11) air-swings before he hit the ball. To make matters worse, each air-swing took a huge divot out of the turf. 😢
I don't think most golfers really break 100, with all the ball fluffing, foot wedges, OB, and gimmies, add the occasional breakfast ball and don't forget 3 beers in just the front 9. So what you score today, 89 not bad.
I hate it when I see these guys on the course clogging and hacking everything up. They need to just stay at the range until they can effectively hit a ball.
I'm hardly stuck up and not even pushing myself as a good golfer, but the first thing people should learn when playing golf is etiquette. Not talking during a swing, don't step on someone's putting line, replace and repair divots and KEEP UP WITH PACE OF PLAY.
Dude, you're ignoring the rule of "keeping up with pace of play". Even on the PGA if a guy is playing slow, the slow player is told to speed up. If you can't grasp that concept, then maybe YOU don't belong on or near a golf course. Or maybe you like playing 6-7 hour rounds of golf.
Normally if someone is a slow player and can see that they are holding people up behind them, they will wave them through. What has, 'not pushing yourself as a good golfer' got to do with being stuck up? You obviously look down your nose at people who aren't on your level or better
I was expecting way worse ngl

Me, too, but that’s very common: an all arms & hands swing.
Same 😂
I love how he stands there and admires that last shank.
"Geez that was a good one! It got off the ground!!"
Best shank I’ve hit all day.
That was a pull.
Lol
He admired an awful PULL shot.
"What did you shoot today?"
"Eighty."
"Hey, that's pretty good."
"On one hole."
😂
He strategically kept it out of the water. Good course management.
I love how he's hitting 3 wood with a cart like 120 yards ahead
It’s probably a playing partner who k owes he sucks and can’t hit him lol
He can't reach them lol 😆 😂 🤣
His 3 prolly goes 100 on a good hit, meaning he planned it to perfection

I couldn't agree more; especially as an athlete who had access to arguably then greatest golfer of all time before they fell out.
I thought of Charles too. Wow that was painful to watch. Much better now
You're referring to his old swing which yes was terrible. Glad to see Charles was able to turn his swing into something.
Excellent pre-shot routine and positive attitude. This player has potential.
