I suffer from depression so doing locs was my BEST option. So far I’m loving my journey.

I don’t understand why you say locs don’t need to be washed as often; I find the opposite, locs are so low maintenance that I can wash them everyday if I want to, whereas with loose natural that’s not possible. Plus stuff cling to loc which motivates frequent washing. Additionally locs can be dry especially high porosity locs so frequent washing keeps them moisturized unless you use stripping products. With regard to buildup, I don’t use haircare products, I use vinegar, essential oils or plant waters/teas, so daily washing is easy. Not washing new locs is a myth because wetting hair makes it loc faster. People who retwist their locs like to keep that look for as long as possible and so don’t want to wash often and why people don’t want to wash new locs.

Why would you say locs don't need to be washed as often? That's falling right into the stereotype of locs being dirty. I wash my locs once a week or more if needed depending on my workouts depending on the environment, Etc. I take care of my hair and do my own retwists and I'm not somebody who has to have my hair twisted for that neat look. I've noticed the longer my hair has gotten the less I go between retwists. But pushing that locks don't need to be washed as often as your natural hair is the wrong direction in my opinion
