The loading of the boats and then offloading the right cargo at the right time. Making caches on the beach and area around it. Developing the beachhead. One boat offloading some troops is just a very small part of an army movement ashore, especially if you are landing something big like a division. They should keep that in mind. But i guess, they are. The book im reading is of 1966.. I hope the info in that book made it to the new ones. The newer Field manuals got thicker and thicker. Almost so thick you cant even work your way through it. It takes way longer before you make it through. That kind of worried me a bit. Good to hear they have been training for some years now. Its not meant to be a defended beach landing. In history, most amphibious landings were not opposed. Unless you have millions of men mobilised the coastline is too large for it all to be defended, which means you probably wont have enemy hiding in the sand dunes because the amphibious force can choose when and where to land. Plus, typically you would use special forces to secure the beach before the landing - if you watch teh whoel video, you'll see a platoon was landed a km north by zodiak, which them moved south to secure the LZ. You've just watched saving private ryan too many times.
This beautiful beach is meant for relaxing dancing drinking margaritas and listening to deep house music. This is not a place for fucking war zone military exercises
