As a daily reader, I approve of this video. I started out small, and now read around 100 pages a day. In the past, reading was boring to me, now I can’t wait until it’s that time of the day to read!
try to read when you have 20 times more testosterone than the average guy. girls can sit easily... cause no hormones ask them to go hunt for a female. tell me how much you read on your ovulation day, boys don't have that.. they have it every day. it's in our DNA
Summary: 1. Don’t over achieve. Start low: 1 page/day minimum. 2. Read before internet dopamine fix. 3. Habit bunching, read with your morning coffee. 4. Try audiobooks. (Even while working out... habit bunching). 5. Change your attitude, self identify as a reader.
Thank you very much! a little and useful summary for anyone 1.Don't overachieve -> one page a day and then another one, and another one..... 2. Read before going to the internet 3. @AncientAstronautTheorist I'm six months late but I'll answer anyway. After eating skittles, you'll hate the taste of wine, thus preventing you from drinking it and getting drunk.
I used to hate reading but I found that if you start with smaller books (100 page ish books) and slowly work bigger it kinda gets easier. Also, if you are like me and can't sit still for 2 minutes to read a page or accidentally fall asleep when reading anything, that's okay. Just keep trying again and again and again and again. You'll slowly build your focus and even if you don't at least you'll get the much needed sleep you need :)
In college I'd read while walking on the treadmill slowly (getting PE credit lol), or on the stationary bike :) somehow it helped me feel I was multitasking and focusing all the while

One thing that helped(s) me with wanting to read, a tip from a non-reader I know 😂, is to read books that movies were based off of. I had watched The Hitchhiker Guide To the Galaxy, with Martin Freeman in it, and, sometime around I decided to listen to an audiobook of it from a great youtube channel called Now Read This. His voice definitely fits the writing style perfectly and the characters come to life from his narration. I really enjoyed that book!

Holy shit that intro is so me. I find all these books that I want to read, but when I come to sit down- I can barely keep focus and follow through. It's taken me around 2 weeks to read 100 pages due to the lack of consistency. Then i end up feeling bad thinking that I'm just not cut out. I see people that can get lost in books and read lots and I'm just so envious of that, I really want to get to that stage.
It's not all sunshine. Most people who read a lot get glasses rather sooner than later. Those who don't, have better eyesight for a longer time. Eyes are not made for reading lots of information. Also, most people who "read a lot" read low level literature, keep that in mind.
Love tip number 3, actually I also discuss it in my latest video. Also, I actually stopped reading and only listen to audio books. It's great way to compensate for a busy traveler's schedule and I can do it "on the go" even while driving. Thanks for the tips and keep up the good quality!
i made it a habit more than 4 years ago of at least reading a couple of pages each in English, French , German , Maltese and the bible. it is really enjoyable if you do it in a relaxed way as a workout without stress, without haste, without over emphasizing on vocabulary searching . it helps me calm down. last year i finished reading 3 novels in French, 1 in Italian, 1 in German and a couple of books in english and maltese , just by being consistent in reading a few pages from each language a day. do not waste too much time on vocabulary searching , you will meet words you do not understand the more you read.
I finally see it. I see why people love reading. More you read more you get into that zone. When you're into that zone it's like the current world doesn't exist and you're in a setting of that book. That's the stage daily book readers reach.
I read like a maniac for more than a dozen years than I stopped. Now I can’t put my mind into reading a whole page. These tips look interesting and easily applicable. Thank you.
I found that reading a very simple, easy to read book helps because you don't need to focus that hard. It helps you learn to enjoy reading because you find it easier to follow and pay attention. Then move on to more complex books.
I’m a high school student who hates reading, we have to read a bunch of novels in English and I literally just go on websites to find the summary. at some point I can’t keep doing this so now I’m here 💀
Read first and foremost for fun is my best tip. I read a lot of personal development books too but if I’m in a reading slump picking up a fantasy, sci fi or smutty romance novel usually kicks my brain back into gear and makes me fall back in love with the process of reading. If I’m just reading books on how to be a more productive human all the time it gets really dull

I had some learning problems too in high-school People had to repeat themselves cause I couldn't understand what they were saying. But hey its never too late to learn anything. It's hard but you have to push yourself. I thought I would never finish high-school and even many thought as well but I pushed through it, analysed every single word even searched the meaning up in the Internet. By the end of 2019 I graduated and passed all my subjects with b's and A's. Don't worry kiddo you'll get there, just take ur time reading. Even have people next to you to help its no biggie and it's worth it. don't worry about what the other kids ethier say cause there not gonna help. I use to got teased alot for having a assistant teacher around with me even when I was in the final year of school, but I still kept my head down and worked hard. I even made friends with those teachers that helped and gave me alot life tips and advises. Now I'm reading my 30th book julius ceasers commentary on the gallic wars. Pretty wierd how I got here but I'm proud of what I did to reach this. Its all about ur mindset, just got to be positive all the time, if you doubt alot don't because doubt kills.

I initially thought that this video might teach techniques about how to read & analyse a book for maximum enjoyment. It doesn't. Instead, it provides excellent advice for anyone who decides to take on a regular self-improvement task which they haven't been doing before (such as reading a book, dieting, exercising etc.). So many of us start such activities with an abundance of enthusiasm and good intentions, only to give up for one reason or another. This video explains that a fundamental thing you need to do is build a new habit, and it shows you how. You build the new habit, and eventually, the habit drives you.
Something else to include: The most important tip I ever got to becoming a better reader.... was literally to just sit down and FORCE yourself to read. And to do this for HOURS upon DAYS. To do this without speeding through it and just trying your best to comprehend it, even if you're SUPER SUPER SUPER ADHD and cannot concentrate or focus at all. Eventually you will get to this weird point, in my experience, where you understand it, and then suddenly you enjoy reading? It's strange.
I would love to read a book a week... growing up, I always thought I was too dumb to read; listening to my mother always correct me... I learned to be quiet in fear of saying the wrong thing. Now that I'm in my 40's, I realize that my insecurities from my past has followed me into my life today, which has hindered my growth... I will believe in myself more❣
I will try to follow your advice❤️ As of now, I have this kind of habit which I found myself sleepy after every 2 pages of reading a book. Exam will be in next two days but still I'm stuck at the same page😭 Sometimes I used reading when my insomnia attacks because I always feel dizzy once I read😅
What a coincidence... I just started reading “The Obstacle is the Way”. So I RUclips to be a better reader because I get distracted easily and it’s hard for me to just sit. Then, I see this dude with the obstacle is the way! Wow. Love the advice thanks !
I have to read a book for school, and when we were half way through the book and we had a test on it, I realized I wasnt focused the whole time and I didn’t know anything about the book. I got a 20 percent on the test and now I have a C in English, I have always hated reading and I can never focus. I hope this helps 🤞🏼🥺
I am a total bookworm. I always read aloud in my English class as a teenager. I highly recommend using audio for all readers. It sets the tone, setting, and theme.
Last tip: "Oh I don't hate reading! I'ma just give it a try!" *Picks up book, reads into it before putting it down 5 minutes later* "I love reading!" -_-
Liked this vid a lot! I'm not a huge fan of reading, but I've been kind of forcing myself into it for a while now and despite this my liking for books haven't changed as much as I would like. So these tips might help me! Thanks bro
I was reading a Light Novel, and I used to read like 50 to 100 pages a day. Suddenly, I lacked motivation and started to read 1 to 10 pages a day only. *I hope this video will help me*
First tip is GOLD. 3-5 pages a day is great tip as it's very achievable. I would not recommend doing audio books as one can get easily distracted and then not listen to what it's been said, at least for me. While when u read you're actually concentrating on one thing only, reading. Also your brain absorbs info better by reading then by listening to audio as you're processing when reading, like a computer vs passively listening. Associating reading with some positive reinforcement like being in bed or drinking coffee is also fantastic idea. Thank you.
An actually helpful video about the topic. So much non sense out there. But this - great. Plus it’s super enjoyable listening to you. Your work is so authentic that it seems like a friend of mine explaining/recommending sth to me. Again: just great.
Thanks man this video helps me a lot, i was having so much stress about not reading my coursebooks, as much as I need to, but this video taught me to takes things slow.
I love the idea of reading and own a lot of books. I think you're right about the internet being a massive distraction. My gf says I'm always looking at a screen. Not good.
Mind blowing idea! Add reading to drinking coffee in the morning.. I never thought of that. Considering I get up at 5:30-6:00 and sit on the computer for an hour and a half... I could change that I guess.
Reading is hard at first and it's easier to just come home from work and plop down on the couch and zone out to a movie or tv show. But it's like anything, the more you do it, the better you get at it and the more stamina you have for it. It feels good to work your imagination and it actually helps my mental health. Definitely recommend!

Talks about reading before being on the internet. As im watching this before reading 🤦♂️

DACHAGS GO thanks a lot! Appreciate your comment
One of the obstacles for me to focus on the video is the beauty of the presenter
Last tip: "Oh I don't hate reading! I'ma just give it a try!"
*Picks up book, reads into it before putting it down 5 minutes later*
"I love reading!" -_-

I think this video is made for me
Liked this vid a lot!
Thank you.
The audible part made me laugh so hard :D
You’re videos are awesome, you really have help me in the last month ever since I saw one of your videos, thank you!!
What if I took too long to read a book?
i like how well made this video is, concise and without waffle. thanks
“Looking and understanding paper” watch out there bud. Words.
Duuudee what you described in the beginning is 100% how I feel. I never thought I could relate to anyone else😂
Don't forget this comment when you have 1m suscribers just keep going like this
This is one of the best and most realistic videos I’ve seen on improving my reading skills. Thank you. ❤
2:00 I see He read atomic habits
i was thinking the same
It really feels good to find people who want to read but can't seem to stay focused on it because it can be boring.
Watching this video while violating tip #2😂😂😂😂
An actually helpful video about the topic. So much non sense out there. But this - great. Plus it’s super enjoyable listening to you. Your work is so authentic that it seems like a friend of mine explaining/recommending sth to me. Again: just great.
I enjoy reading comments more than I do books. Sad.
Love the Candid Moment at 2:40 Loved this beautiful piece of content. Great Value. Looking forward for more.
Why don't you get more likers..
Because you didn’t share this video with all your friends and family yet! ;)
Nice
I've always wanted to read more but I always saw it as an inconvenience. However, this video definitely helped! Thank you!
Honestly i dont even know why im here. All i ever do is read.

Thanks man this video helps me a lot, i was having so much stress about not reading my coursebooks, as much as I need to, but this video taught me to takes things slow.
So I can’t read after this
Anires ok Karen
Anires I thought that you have to take this seriously
Anires The video is made from some random dude that you probably don’t even know. Also if you want to be serious then why are you on youtube

This is great man. I was trying to figure out a way for our son to read and this is going to change his life. Awesome video!
I need to read every day. I can’t do it.
Edit: yea well ummm I haven’t read anything;-;
I suggest that you give your phone to someone then you can focus better
I love the idea of reading and own a lot of books. I think you're right about the internet being a massive distraction. My gf says I'm always looking at a screen. Not good.
YOU HAD HAIR?!
Mind blowing idea! Add reading to drinking coffee in the morning.. I never thought of that. Considering I get up at 5:30-6:00 and sit on the computer for an hour and a half... I could change that I guess.
1:00 60 seconds? it takes me one hour to read one damn page...
Reading is hard at first and it's easier to just come home from work and plop down on the couch and zone out to a movie or tv show. But it's like anything, the more you do it, the better you get at it and the more stamina you have for it. It feels good to work your imagination and it actually helps my mental health. Definitely recommend!
1:56 can I do that tip with a game called roblox?
Harley Quinn absolutely! Start your Roblox sessions off with a few pages of literature before you play.
Same here! I was not really fond of reading books, but now I’m slowly getting into the habit of doing so.
I used to love reading until school made it feel like a chore
Shut up waman

Read before the internet is the best advice ever ! First thing in the morning do not go on emails, read.
