I definetely admire his surfing. He pumps to match the speed to make sections, that some other surfers would be left behind.

Terry is not given the credit here for his superb shaping. and surfboard design development. I worked with JR when he was glassing most Brewers and Hawks, and Terry was on the bleeding edge of design. Brewer told me, if memory serves, the modern surfboard rail came from the time Dick, Reno and Terry spent on Kauai. The thin turned down wings on ppintails that Reno and Terry were riding at Sunset were probably the fastest of the whole single fin era. Who was riding these has much to do with the speed, as the two were the speed masters of their generation. My personal copies of the design unleashed speed I'd not felt before. Terry's backside at Rocky Point with his 'screwdriver' boards was decades more advanced than most. Like big square tails, with big shark bites out of each corner. The winger concept taken to it's extreme? Terry;s love of artwork on the boards disguised the shaping for most, IMO. Both shapes and artwork were industry leading.

Since you asked the question, Fitzgerald was no big stand out for mine. It's a subjective thing sure he was a good surfer, there were/are plenty of them. His style is a bit ugly. Heaps of guys from that era were more inspiring to watch but Fitzgerald and Derek Hynd by the way were not on that list.
