Terry Fitzgerald timeless style master. Nothing like that today with points/maneuvers based contests. No slash and burn, just perfect harmony with the wave.
I agree, it's like using the wave for a magic carpet ride instead of using lines to tear the wave apart. Watch Torren Martyn, he's a modern surfer with an amazing throwback soul style who blends everything very well.
I sorta envy these guys and many surfers who were able to make it their lifestyle & especially if they were to make a living close to the ocean... I've done a lot of things... We didn't live far from the ocean... Went to beach often... No undertows, rarely any serious riptides... I was great swimmer above & below water... I was just terrified of sitting on a board waiting for a set concern that shark would mistake me for one of the many seals in the area... No One was ever attacked in areas I went to... Just fear of phobia... Wanted to scuba dive, but same fears...
Sorry to say I didn't appreciate the genius of T. Fitz in '72. He was far too advanced for my limited understanding. Looking again, he is among my favorite surfers of that period. So committed, on edge, creative, and stylish. Best style. Not a learned affectation of standing tall and doing nothing at all, but moving with the wave. Only meant him once. In 1973 at his shop. He had a grinder in his hand and I told him his boards were beautiful, which I only half believed at the time. He smiled and said, "We have fun."
Go get another copy brother It never gets old m8 it's Timeless I'd much rather go back in time than another day forward its a clown planet Love and Light to all of you ❤
This is not a surfing movie, this is poetry
Thanks Fernando

Long before Mick Fanning, this was the Australian "Sultan of Speed"
Single fin, no leash! Loved how he rode the front of his board!
Yes indeed! 🤙
“Those were the days my friend,
We thought they’d never end!”

One of the romantic sub texts of
MOTE was the promise of eternal youth - on that note it was a masterpiece & a delusion.

All the innocent beautiful North
Coast points and Bali we knew have become toilets for the Western World. Pity that !

No leashes. Those came in the later half of the 70's.
